The hackers have a way of finding names in your address book, etc, and then tailor a message to look respectable trying to phish info from you.

No legitimate organization would ever request information in this way, for obvious reasons.

If you have a fax number do a reverse telephone lookup to see who owns it.  It could be LE, which means it will come back as a blocked number.

Ladies - check the number via a reverse number lookup.  Then post the info to all.  If it is a blocked number or non-published it may be LE.  But there are still ways to check the number further to see what activities it may be associated with (but that will cost you a few bucks).  But...be safe and use common sense, always!!!  A grateful hobbyist.

I not only got a couple of these messages, I got the letter from "Igor" listing all of the e-mail addresses it went to.  I never open any of the attachments to this sort of letter because I assume that it has a virus or worm hidden in the attachment.  Several letters with the same subject line from different e-mail addresses are automatically assumed as fraudulent.  But thanks for the "heads up".
