Any ideas whether this can be pulled off?

I spent two nights recently in a NYC upscale, business oriented hotel. Both evenings when I returned from dinner at about 8:30pm I observed a pretty lady whom I was 90% sure was a provider (one arriving by taxi as I was entering the hotel; the other waiting for the elevator, apparently leaving, as I was exiting on my floor). I would have loved to spend time with either of them that evening. But I could not, and still cannot, think of what I could have said or done to let the lady know, without risking that the lady was not a provider or otherwise sticking my foot in my mouth. On neither occasion was anyone else within ear shot.

As a provider, have you ever been approached by a hobbist in similar circumstances? Or, if not, what are your thoughts on whether this could be worked out.

As a hobbiest, have you ever succeeded in arranging something under the circumstances?

And perhaps the worst part, I had no way of finding out who they were so I could try and track them later on TER.

Help!

reviews.

Read Sara Prescott reply to the question on the Legal Corner about casino walkers if you want to hear about it from an insider.

Can you somehow tell by looking at a lady what her rate is, if she'll really deliver, etc.

And what happens when you approach a lady who doesn't appreciate such advances? Be prepared to get slapped down.

Even if she were a provider, she would tell you to get lost.  Best case you get frowned at, worst case you get slapped.

After a visit with one gentleman, I was leaving a hotel one evening (very late around 12minight). It was a Friday night andI was dressing like going out I was going out to a nightclub (maybe a little more conservatively), and I had on a coat - so not sure if I "looked the part." While waiting for a taxi, a gentleman approached me saying "Are you leaving? Going out? Why not stay in with me?" I laughed and said something coy. He leaned in close and said "Don't worry, I'll take care of you.", and with the look on his face, I knew what he meant. And the smell of cigars and liquor convinced me he wasn't a cop. We chatted for a minute as I asked him questions about himself, (kind of on site screening).

By the end of the night, he was happy and I had extra $$$ in my pocket.

Another similar experience happened when a gentleman at a bar asked the bartender about local strip clubs. I offered some advice, ended up going with him to a club - and gave him a private show back at this hotel.

If I have an early ending appt in the city, I might venture down to the hotel bar or one nearby. Occasionally, I meet a second client for the evening, but it's no big deal if I don't.

So if you are in a downtown DC/NYC (or pretty much any city I am in) hotel, and see a girl in business/evening attire at the bar alone it might be me. :-)

The secret is a provider who will see you will respond differently than a normal lady. The way I look at a guy I think gives him the message. Can't explain it exactly.

Vanica

I am pretty sure Sara's post is really only about Las Vegas.

I have picked up gentlemen at hotel bars in other cities - never Vegas. I know all about bar girls in Vegas. In other cities, especially DC/NYC where travelers come from all over the world all the time - things are a little different.

Say there is a IT convention downtown. I dress kinda business casual, grab a copy of a techie magazine or the tech section of a newspaper and hang out at bars - never longer than about an hour anywhere, (unless there is a game on I can watch). If I am bored, I visit bars where I know the bartenders - I can chat them up and not look out of place. I never approach a guy directly. I might jump into a conversation if I can contribute, but it's neither here nor there if I connect with anyone. As well, if I get a call from my ad or just from friends (I know a lot of social people) while out, I am already ready to hop to...Works well.

I used a different name at bars - Using Vanica might tip off vice around if there is any.

It's a bit of a skill I've honed over the years. And done just right, there isn't much risk. I can spot a cop in a second. They always ask stupid questions. Like - "Are you from DC?" If I was why would I be at a hotel bar? LOL As well, I can spot a guy just cruising for a freebie - they are usually very aggressive and touchy-feely.

Vanica

One of the lessons I learned back then was that the hottest woman on the corner did not always offer the best service and the one who seems the most eager might be a cop!.  For these reasons I would not even consider approaching a woman I spotted in a public place no matter how good she looked. Circumventing the entire safety process is of no interest to me.

Honestly, if she is a true pro she isn't going to acknowledge your advances anyway. She screens and chooses her appointments carefully. She protects herself! A few years ago I dropped my ATF escort off at an out call appointment she had at a downtown hotel. The hotel was very upscale and she commented as we were driving away after her appointment at how tempting it would have been to sit in the hotel bar for a few minutes and try to get a little more business. Well, of course she didn't because, in spite of the temptation, she knows it's dangerous.

So what am I babbling about here?  The way for all of us to stay safe in the hobby is to think about what we are doing every step of the way and avoid foolish and risky impulses.

IT convention!!!  You are ruthless, Vanica. :)

You should maintain a blog about your conquests.  Or at least a private diary...

Dear Vanica:
I was wondering about the non verbal dynamics and interplay that are critical during the seminal stages of a chance encounter that you have described above. With that said what are certain things that you pick up from a prospective suitor that tells you that he is interested in you and what is giving off in a non-verbal manner to let you know that you where positively and accurately identified as an Adult Companionship Professional? With respect to your gestalt and your demeanor how do you keep the medium between being subtle but yet being cognizant so that one can put you in the correct category? Please explain and elaborate on the nuances of your game.

It's different for every situation. In matter of minutes I decide how to deal with each person on a personal level. Personalized service is my claim to fame. :-)

If it was a routine it would easily be spotted. :-)
