This relates to the post regarding how long after you married did you start hobbing on the GD board and the "I think I'm busted" post on the erotic highway. I am happily married, no symptoms, hobby about twice a month for a year now. I cannot explain using protection with my wife(her tubes were tied years ago). How many are able to use a condom with their wife? How many have gone long periods without an STD? Short periods? I would love input from providers also

I test quarterly, more often if I have any concerns.  I've been sexually active for 22 years and have never had an STD.  (Knocking on wood.)  Of course, I also use the same safety protocol in my personal life as I do with my clients... so perhaps that has helped?  I have had a couple of bacterial and/or yeast infections, which may have been caused by play (those dirty fingers!).  Fortunately, those are obvious enough to catch quickly, and also quick and easy to treat.

How often do you test messing around with all us hussies ? I know men that see an escort a day.. three times a week - 5 times a month ...

Why worry over us - we are the hofessionals here :)

And also - do you use us as tax write offs ?
Do you pay your taxes ?

Just wondering :)

for their choices, the consequences of their choices, and for taking responsibility for regular testing.

Hello

This hobby is not for the squeamish or faint of heart. I will tell you honestly that I test every three months and have not had an STD in many years. However, risks are real and present and there are differences of opinion on the part of TER members regarding specific levels of risk....

Ultimately you have to decide which information to put credence in, and make a decision about your perceived levels of risk versus reward...

certainly be mindful of the safety of your SO or spouse

I've attached a risk chart for your perusal. Read not only the chart but the notes at the bottom....

Good luck

Gregory

For me, there would be no good explanation for using condoms. My excuse for trimming my pubes barely flew with my wife. There seems to be 3 predominant states of mind with SO's, regarding their partner's faithfulness. 1. They are always suspicious and looking for evidence supporting it; 2. They are always suspicious, but really care not to look for, or find any evidence; 3. And, the most astonishing, the SO's that have ton's of evidence in front of their faces but do not see it. If you are a betting man, what's your bet concerning your wife?

I'm in the Healthcare profession, and i'm tested all the time. I've had the very expensive Hep. Vaccine and KNOCK WOOD, i've never had a STD

Also how long have you been active with no STD?

I get tested every 3months..and I've never had any STD's what so ever!

I’ve been at this for about 20 years off and on, more on than off.  While active I get tested about every two months.  I’ve never contracted any STD, not even herpes.  Then I have always been strictly FBSM or BJ (and that always BBBJ) with no intercourse and definitely no anal.  I am just the type of guy who doesn’t try and pretend that it is about anything but me.  I know the one reason ($$$) the woman is there.  I’m not interested in even the most award winning performance from an escort during intercourse or DATY.  My anecdotal experience (re STDs) bears out my opinion about the risk to the male from getting a BBBJ from a provider, that is virtually non-existent.

When active, I test every 4 to 6 weeks.  I am temporarily monogamous right now.  (I go through periods like this when I am with a new civvie friend.)  I have led a really slutty life for about 50 years and have had periods of activity in the hobby at least since 2003.  I have never thank G had an std.  There are times when I pre or post treat myself with azythromycin for chlamydia and a cyclosporin for GC.  Sometimes, when I need to feel extra safe, I pre and post treat with an anti viral for herpes. None of this is recommended nor has it been shown to be effective. I must disagree with the otherwise excellent chart that Greggory has posted in only one regard (he is very reliable so I hate to disagree at all, but what are friends for): In my opinion, you can get GC and chlamydia from DATY. I have seen one or two cases over the years and it makes bacteriologic sense.

just because it's written down somewhere does not make it absolutely authoritative. It comes back to the individual informing themselves as best they can, and making their own decisions.

Is there a chart you prefer? If not I will make a note to mention the possibility of acquiring Chl and GC via daty when I post the chart in the future.

I learned during my navy days to treat prophylactically with antibiotics before and during sporting with the indigenous fauna.... I do not know if it helped or not but it was highly recommended by the Navy doctors I knew.... and I have been fortunate / lucky / blessed with respect to STDs.

But I doubt you will get any admissions here from providers or even from hobbyists who have contracted an STD through the hobby...

I was married for the first 20 years that I hobbied and I could not wear a condom for the same reason you mentioned so I made damn sure I wore a condom with every other woman that I had sex with. Twenty one years of screwing everything from streetwalkers to $300 an hour GFE's with not one STD contracted.  I don't get tested very often anymore since I am sort of "provider monogamous" for the last couple of years with two low volume UTR ladies.  Back when I was seeing two or three new ladies a month I was getting tested two or three times a year.

Quite simply, the hobby is not without risks. I've never had uncovered sex but I've had plenty of BBBJ and DATY over the years both of which are not without risk.  We all have to decide as individuals how much risk we are willing to take. A hundred people can post here that they have never had any problems with STD's but we all know that they exist and that people contract them every day.

My feeling has been and continues to be that providers are much more diligent about practicing safe sex than your average bar pick-up is. I've mentioned this before but it bears repeating. In my twenty odd years of hobbying I have remained disease free. My closest friend who has been single his entire life and never paid for sex has been treated for STD's at least six or seven times that I can remember him telling me about.

1. In general I do believe you are safer with a responsible professional.

2. Here you are getting a skewed sample: Those who have not had an STD will step forward while those who have had one or more will not.

And, to be clear about what I said, I take meds pre and post to prevent not treat STDs.  This is not recommended, but I do it.  I am not recommending you do it.

I contracted crabs twice in the 90's, for that reason only, I only see providers who are clean shaven.

Another hobby expense is that I use a private lab because my primary physican knows me too well. After my second episode, he gave me a full lecture on STD's.  I felt like a kid in high school health class

Interesting point, how many providers can afford to be tested on a regular?

I pinch myself.  If I don't feel it, there's probably something wrong.  If I do feel it, there's probably something wrong.  That way no surprises.

It works if you pinch anywhere on your body.

My doctor is fully aware of my activities, and tests me accordingly along with other screening that she does on a regular basis. I'm not even sure exactly what all the tests are, but she tells me I'm good to go...So I go!!!

Never had an STD

Just an afterthought...
I have only been in the business for 2 and half years and have never had an std, but I am adamant about protection, as is any respectable lady in this business.

In reality, a promiscuous woman is usually more careless, while a "prostitute" or "provider" or whatever you want to call us, is very aware that he or she(she in most cases), runs a much higher risk and therefore has to be much more careful.

I, like most hobbiests, have a personal life with a significant other and 2 beautiful children.

Having said that, as careful as I may think I am, I still get tested every 6-8 weeks and, so far, have come back clean.

One more thing, any working girl that can't "afford" to get tested for STDs but can afford that Gucci bag on her shoulder or those Jimmy Choo shoes on her feet, is just plain crazy!!

xoxo,
Mia

I test every 2 months. My Obgyn knows what I do for a living, so its no biggie to show up for testing.
