This is a old 70's song, and for some reason it reminds me of the women who I have met in this hobby.

That was one of those songs that had a sweet hook but aside from that was really boring.  But I have a feeling you're not looking for commentary on the music, but on the poignancy of the lyrics.

harder before I shared such thoughts, since I can imagine some lady's could take the message as being judgmental, or at a minimum a commentary on their personal choices. I'm certain you're not meaning it as such. Of course there are some ladies here that have experience both sides, and have it all.

To me, a woman who makes the choices she makes is her own doing, and she is free to do whatever she wants.   If from those choices, she gets what she wants, then everything is fine.    If OTOH the choices she made are not acceptable to her, then she only has herself to blame.

But everytime I hear this song, and the second verse, "undressed by kings, and seen things a woman ain't supposed to see", I think of escorts.

That is why I posted this thread.

The idea that there are things that a woman ain't supposed to see is antiquated and sexist.  The premise of this statement is that there are some things women just can't handle seeing or that women are just too delicate to see them.  Since this song was written, we have proven that women are equal to men, and in many ways stronger than men.  I'm not sure what you think it is that women are not supposed to see, but I'm pretty sure your wife would say that you are not supposed to see escorts.

And further, I pray everyday that every woman has the experience of being undressed by a king.  A king undresses a woman appreciating every inch of her body and showering her with adoration.  A king makes a woman feel like she is the most precious and beautiful woman on the face of this earth.  Imagine if every woman experienced this, as opposed to the humiliating, condescending, abusive, and denegrating experience that many women have with the men they have as partners.

Your statement that a woman only has herself to blame if she is unhappy with the choices she has made oversimplifies the many situations and circumstances that may cause a woman to make choices she might not necessarily be happy with.  Your statement is just plain ignorant.  Blame is really the last thing we should be thinking about when interacting with or reflecting upon a woman who is acting against her own integrity.  In my experience, this happens most frequently when a woman is solely responsible for her children and she does whatever she has to do to ensure that her children are taken care of properly.  

I hope that in the future you are able to meet one of the many providers who are self actualized and very happy to be of service to you.  There are a lot of providers who choose this profession because of the opportunity it gives us to contribute to other people.  Being married and having babies is only one way a woman can possibly find fulfillment in her life.  I think we have proven that women have much more to contribute to society than being a good wife and mother.

I remember the song but not all the lyrics so I looked them up (see link).  I am offended that you think of us like that.  As if we're all misguided, disillusioned sad women. Give me a break!!!!!!!   Most of us are strong, independent women with a strong sense of ourselves.  But hey...what do I know, I've 'never been to me'.   Please......I wish gents would stop thinking providers are the stereotypical lost souls.

I took it entirely different.  Suppose it is about a women trying to make it in the business world, which back in the 70's was much more a man's domain.  The whoring she is talking about is the prices she has to pay to make it in the world. Maybe she did have to slee with men to get to the top, but she realized she made that decision and now must live with it.  Just another perspective.
