I'd like to have just one number too but I don't want a provider infatuated with me finding out where I live from my other number and then come knocking at my door at 2am wanting some more from me. Lmfao.. As you know, I have that effect on women.
Not only that, more importantly, my area has a reputation of being infested with donut-men activity...
Some jurisdictions even treat the hobby as a felony rather then misdeameaner.
They must be guarded better than regular ones. Misplaced mine yesterday when I found it there was a new message that had already been read. OOPS.
You just smile and say 'Sucks to be you!' ![]()

And besides, WTF is wrong with seeing a lady where you live? I flew two here this time last year. One one weekend, one the next. Or was it the weekend after that?.... ![]()
So when someone accidentally finds it and turns on the hobbyphone, it asks for a "PIN"... lol
Also, since it is linked to Google Voice, I'm still able to check messages, voicemails, missed calls, and receive them through Gmail when I'm at work / home anyway. It even lets you send TXT and place calls directly from Gmail within the browser too, all for free.
Also, on my TracFone, I turned off the additional lock that passcode protects contacts/msgs/logs. Reason is, it became annoying as hell having to enter the damn pin every time I want to check something.
These phones are friggin ancient.
No need to bother fumbling with an ancient phone when there's no need to. I only use that shit as a remote "proxy" to my main google number when I'm at the hotel. Works like a charm.
There was a thread posted not too long ago where the OP said keeping his burn phone secure was too difficult. Now, I have fucked up plenty myself so I'm not judging, but not to have a burn phone is nuts. Yes, we'll all fuck up now and again. But that's no reason not to have one. The consequences are worse not having one, then having one and misplacing it, etc.
I hate trac fones reloding the minutes and the txting- they end up being expensive in the long run.
I prefer to get a pay as you go phone through tmobile, boost or cricket.
I usually give them a fake name and fake address, - they usually do not care since there is NO credit check.
I pay in cash every month. $50-$60 month its so much cheaper in the long run for a provider.
You can pay in cash at the store or a lot of circle k's have bill pay centers- its a kiosk generally located next to the atm in the gas station.
Another point re pay as you go. With Virgin Mobile, at least, if you don't use the phone for a while you lose your remaining minutes and can even lose your #. This almost happened to me. They do send you warnings but I didn't get them because I hadn't turned the damn thing on for weeks. Beware.
I have never tried to hide my hobby phone. Why should I? Hell, almost everyone I give a damn about now knows I hobby. Plus, everything is password protected and out side my secretary, my wife, myself and maybe one escort who borrowed it for a day as someone stole hers. no one knows the password.
The only reason I have hobby phone/email/PC is to reduce my risk of bacon finding out I hobby. Bacon has really upped their game lately. In the last 6 months they have flipped 3 well reviewed provides that used to screen and at least one well seasoned hobbyist I know of. Can't be to careful with bacon broadcasting stings on the local TV news. They are now going after everyone here not just the low hanging fruit.
it was only after i became familiar with the hobby lifestyle that i realized the importance of disposable phones/credit cards to those involved. the interesting thing is that i used to wonder why a few people i knew had a 2nd phone (disposable). they would always sidestep the question but now i think i know what they were up to. i'm really surprised that the law hasn't stepped in to regulate these things a little more due to illegal immigration useage, drug dealers, etc. let's cross our fingers that they don't!
No SO to worry about. No one uses my phone but me. So, I have only my phone. Thus far, I have not had a 'lovesick' provider abuse my number by calling me repeatedly. Therefore, I see no need for me to take on the expense of a second phone.
I realize that many of my hobby colleagues out there are not in my situation and must protect themselves. I would too. Were I in a relationship, esp marriage, I would probably not be hobbying. However, if I was married and my wife decided she no longer was interested in sexual activities, I would probably hobby. Even tho I'm over 60, I still love sex with women. It's much preferable to Rosie Palm and her 5 daughters.

If it is ever discovered a second phone is guaranteed to raise suspicion with your spouse even if she doesn't see a message on it...
Even when I was married I just never felt the need for it. To each his own I guess.
I just see it differently. Hiding a hobby phone just isn't that hard, even from an SO. And if you are married, it is much harder to keep your regular cell phone secure. Yes, you can shut it off and/or lock it, but then you're missing calls you might want. To each his own, I guess.
