As long as the envelope contains what it's supposed to, I don't see any one of these ladies giving a shit WTF we do for a living!

Fuck, dude! WTF!!! They don't fucking care!

You think it makes a goddam bit of difference what you do for a living when some of these ladies are feeding their kids? Or putting themselves thru school?

Yeah, you can lay there with them and schmooze cuz you're such a great guy. Blah, blah, blah.

I'll give you that. But seriously, you think you're that cool?

Me, on the other hand.... ;)

Hello my people,

A question directed mostly for the providers, but also I'd be interested in your insights into providers' thought processes regarding this topic, even if you are not a provider:

I've had every provider I've seen (or attempt to see) ask me about my occupation.  What sorts of information is she trying to gain from this information?  Income bracket?  Social status?  Why should she care if I pass the screening process (not a cop, criminal, psycho, family member, or friend) and she knows I can pay the donation requested?

Are there bragging rights involved?  As in, "Most of my clients are wealthy." Or, "I am fucking a powerful Senator."

Or are there other associations she has made/making?
Like, "Lawyers always tip nice."  Or, "Bankers usually ask to use the shower."

What goes through a provider's mind when she finds out a hobbyist is one of the following:

1. Doctor
2. Lawyer
3. Software Engineer
4. Municipal Bus Driver
5. Congressman / Senator
6. Investment Banker
7. Restaurateur

Thank You,
RedCloak

P.S.  In civie dating, this question always came up, but the rationale was more understandable.

she's just trying to make some conversation.

Don't overthink this.

I don't typically make it a point to ask, but if the subject comes up it's usually just part of casual conversation.  Many gents I see are traveling to my area for business, so it only seems natural to inquire what brings them around - and so it starts.  Conversely, I've been asked many times if I have an occupation outside of providing.  What's to gain from that knowledge?  It's just small talk and human curiosity.  No need to get worked up over it.

Cheers,
Stella

on some level.  Believe it or not, your occupation is part of that.  I word it differently, but in all actuality, I could care less, how much money you make.

And want to know if you are marriage material so they can retire in luxury.
(Put those weapons away ladies, it's just a joke):)

It is probably just small talk. I have been asked many times, and never took offense to it.

honestly...i dont mind if he wants to share the information, beyond what I need to know for screening purposes.

i dont ask for it though.

See, I see it as this. The less we know about each other's personal life the better. Ignorance is bliss. I can talk about everything and anything (sigh, i think my reviews, in a subtle way, accuse me of talking too much about an array of topics. In fact, I think I left Spongebob on the TV once and launched into a 7 minute monologue as to why I love Spongebob..)

SEE????? I am doing it again!! Rambling!!

He and I (and whoever else is at the party..lol) are there to have a good time. If the conversation veers to personal waters...I will quickly change it. That way, knock on wood, if anyone ever asks me about so and so (other than a provider asking for a reference) I can honestly say...I have no fracking clue.

jus sayin....

there is a way to shut me up though. LMAO. and no, its not the way you think. lol

When civvie is asking you what you do, she indeed wants to know how much money you make.

If provider is asking you what you do .. chances are she is trying to figure out what to chit chat with you about while you are recovering from BBBJ number one :)

On serious note though, when I am booked for dinner/overnight date i DO want to know as much about YOU before we meet as possible.

It kind of helps to create the right atmosphere from moment I walk in.  There were times when i spent time reading up on subjects I have no idea about just so I could maintain conversation with client regarding something that is important for him.

"I've had every provider I've seen (or attempt to see) ask me about my occupation." - That seems so odd to me.

In 20+ years of playing with escorts, I don't recall any lady ever asking that question.  Of course, it often comes out over dinner or while talking socially, but it's usually me offerring the information and I just don't recall ever having it be an outright question from an escort.

Perhaps it's because I live in the SF Bay Area where (it seems like) just about every client works for a large technology firm and we're usually engineers, IT managers, etc.  Maybe the ladies here get the same answer over and over and have just given up on asking.

OTOH, when I see ladies on the East Coast, I still don't get that question.   Hmmmmm....

I have issues during the screening process.....

Matter's not to me!  If the gentleman would care to tell me...I'd love to hear about it!  It may make for interesting conversation.  I am the last one to nose into anyone's business.   I keep it light, hot and fun!

I do enjoy intellectually stimulating conversation though.....

:)

Considering where we are... don't ask and don't tell...

You probably won't get a straight answer anymore than I would expect one if I ask how many clients you see each day or how many real/fake O's you have ;-)

Us DC metro area guys like to be UTR as much, if not more than, you ladies.

gotta stay on the hush hush...

actually I do ask but many clients I already know from refs I checked.
If I ask its just to be social I don't really care whatou do why or how much money you make.

to give me insight into your personality, interest, and/or social skills.

To help me with conversation starters et cetera...

Part of my screening process

But my first and foremost reason for asking is an association with which to help me remember you with.

John the lawyer
Bill the plumber
Adam the Banker

and so forth.

engaging in an activity that may have ramifications involving incarceration, possible physical harm, etc.... ought to be savy and gather whatever information they can regarding folks they interact with.

The best intel is always built from a tapestry of sources.

I perform a background check on every lady I will see.

Lexis Nexis and such.

Goose & Gander.....

I doubt it has ANYTHING to do with bragging rights. The smart ladies whom I enjoy being fucked silly by are sharp wimmins.

From my hobbyist perspective, I think most providers who ask this are just trying to get some conversation going.  And our job will usually get us talking, one way or the other!

Safety and to determine how long you can fund your hobby.

is a proxy for behavior tendencies. Executives, investmemnt bankers, well known scientists, and so forth are unlikely to pose a danger to a lady because they have too much to loose by doing so.

1. Doctor: Usually stressed out and looking for a good massage as well as be indulged.

2. Lawyer: Probably chatty. Loves CG and RCG.

3. Software engineer: Probably quiet. Likes to watch

4. Bus Driver: Average. Interests are a-little-bit-of-everything

5.  Congressman/ Senator: Very concerned about discretion. Probably a super freak with a broad range of kinks.

6. Investment Banker: Looking to go a little crazy. Most likely to request same day bookings.

7. Restauranteur: Definatly wants more bang for his buck, and knows his way around a bottle of wine. Probably will enjoy discussing the buisness side of 'providing' as post-coital chat.

Because I have so damned many occupations and areas of interest. Many of them seemingly contradictory. People tend to stereotype based on occupations, so if I give one it tends to restrict rather than enhance.

It is likely easier for the girl to tell me something about herself (e.g. specific interests or areas of study) and allow me to do the adapting.
