The system will allow you to post under both your handle and an alias on the same thread.  It's just not permitted and is grounds for being moderated.  I speak with some authority here, as the mods on this board can confirm.

Hah, made you look.  There are rare occasions when I see it happen that I can tell it was a mistake and can modify the post before anyone can see the change.  I suppose that's an advantage of being moderated.
