Any other providers slightly amused by johns who think they're business experts in this field?  a few examples.   the eros weather report/aka the how a provider should determine where to tour post.  someone telling me i'm foolish and cheap to not pay TER to get business from this website. the constant variations on the 'you need to lower your rates to get more business posts' everywhere on every msg board.  

really what do you think your qualifications are? how did you learn so much about the biz?

ie, the need to overanalyze & document trivia.  Manifests substantially differently in females.

a good 20%-50% of provider ads on these boards are accompanied by 'this is how you should do your business honey' replies.  often a suggestion of lower rates. the why,  is a topic worthy of discussion.

I think most agree that when a hobbiest whines about a provider's rates it's an excercise in futility. If a provider is getting the activity she seeks at a given rate she would be dumb to lower it. as far as the other suggestions go, I think the posters were just trying to be helpful and the suggestions are yours to consider or discard.

If said data was interpreted as trying to tell you how to do your business, well, then I sense one of us has a slight inferiority complex.

You asked what my qualifications are. Well, since you asked, 20+ years in Sales and Marketing and why yes I do have an MBA in business and marketing. But I don't consider the MBA worth beans. It's just a hall pass to let you work at the best assignments and the best companies. In the end it’s the market that hands you your report card.

So why did I publish the information? Well mainly to share. I find statistics interesting and others apparently did too. There weren’t any real negative responses to that post until this one.

When I did this for my provider friend it was solely because she was struggling with what cities to include when she tours and asked for my opinion since I travel a lot. Not having a good answer for her I just applied some simple market demographic analysis. Took me about 10 minutes. But hell, I do this for living.

But you ask what qualifies me to talk about your biz? Answer, absolutely nothing. However, these statistics were meant solely as one data point in what is otherwise a fuzzy decision. In the end, my friend will have to make her own decision. My hope was to let her at least see the problem from a numerical perspective.

Now if such an idea of offering up statistics offends you, well then, there are deeper issues that I for one, won’t comment on.

To the other folks on the board,

I was on the fence as to whether to include this info again. Since I didn’t get a strong yes or no message I’m somewhat disinclined to do this again. But I’d love to hear other lucid thoughts on this topic.

but, 12 different kinds of spam fly off the shelf there. get it? demand for different things is different in different places.  demand can exist independent of market competition.  also eros is not the end all be all of advertising. it's about 10% of my website traffic. on the west coast it's even less important.   checking actual traffic on eros on any given eros city at the moment is a more realistic way to determine when/where to travel.

edit: also different things have different values in different places a tiny little apartment may be worth 40,000 in texas and 400,000+ in new york.

The information was never offered as an exhaustive analysis. Mereley a curiosity. As I stated previously "it's just one data point".

Well, first and foremost that post is not very accurate and does not reflect all info needed to give such an opinion.  However, I give the guy credit for trying.  I think a woman who is in the field / trade that makes a post giving advice would most likely be listened to first, as she is in the trade and knows all the variables.  To those "johns" that tell ladies to lower their rates they show a lack of respect and or little understanding of the physical toll it takes on a lady being in the biz.  They are not in any position to give advice.  For those that do so it is most likely advice slanted in their favor.  You are far better to up your rates and keep the wear and tear on your body down.  Thus keeping yourself healthy.  Not to mention keeping a classier more upscale clientelle.  Thats my 02 on the subject.

I think that its great that you went to the trouble to do the statistics.  I also think its great that you were trying to lend a hand to someone who asked for it.  I think what has happened is that there are so many men who are constantly telling the ladies how to run their biz, often times giving advice in their favor and not the lady.  However, your post was not the case.  But I did find some variables missing in your data.  Hopefully your friend who is in the biz can give you more info.  Anyway, your post is appreciated and I think sometimes we ladies tend to be tightly wound ( I know I can be at times ) and then don't see that some men like you are not trying to hurt but genuinely trying to offer help.

PS.  wouldn't that be great if we could get an MBA in Hoe-ing!  LOL

I thought that his analysis was as honest as anything you read here and you are right, from the left coast, EROS doesn't play that much into the decision-making by experienced hobbyists. How someone runs their business is ultimately up to the person. I believe that touring is best accomplished in places where ladies have an opportunity to standout. In places such as LV and LA, few other places, that can be harder to do for many reasons. But you take, places such as Boston, DC, and Chicago, a lady with better than average looks and a half screen of good reviews goes home with several grand after expenses; not bad for someone who talks dirty to old men... LOL

Case in point. I had a date with FL Provider (whose makes Chicago a regular stop), she was quite candid that her dance card fills up and she still makes time for herself to hangout with some friends she's made. Her average stay on the clock here is 4 days. She's has made 5 figures on most most stops (don't ask, I am not telling). So from a pure numbers perspective, he might not be blowing smoke up your ass; but I forgot, you might like that....Then, again, he might be the biggest ePimp in America... LOL

That one is willing to take on the risks, it's quite possible to operate under the radar in the internet age as a sponsor for men and women who want to indulge in the carnal arts for a fee... let's say that having an offshore presence, layered corporate structure, numbered swiss accounts (sounds very James Bond-like) and a stable of talent wouldn't be all that difficult.

Sites such as TER and EROS are fringe players, though I am sure TER has been challenged in a few states for being something other than a messenger... but take some of the better known FL sites with the bodacious tatas... and other leeringly pleasant avenues... Just add water, live-cam events, 30 minute to your door service as a guarantee and you might be a candidate for ePimp of the year... At the very least, you'd be able to  quit your day job.

I think it would be better if we put more effort into legalizing and decriminalizing the trade.  So many online put so much effort into working with the ladies as it is, why not put that effort into making the trade legitimate?  It can be done despite what cynical notions some may have.  Its a matter of educating the public.  Maybe we can get some statistical information from Trustno20!  GRIN

Although many of you ladies are quite astute in the profitable operation of your enterprise a large percentage seems to chronically run in the red. This poses a baffling paradox to many men figuring that conservatively you could be netting three or more times as much per week as an average secretary gross. When a gal such as you balks at a nominal $20.00 per month (or less) for access to speedy search features affording review histories and contact data for screening verification with hobbyist’s prior providers along with a “Private Mail” system to use to your further benefit the question of priorities does enter a gentleman’s mind. When you further have a hissy-fit over possibly not being able to access the discussion boards under an alias on a sight that is already affording a discernable percentage of your business cost free; it smacks not only of penuriousness but also elitist and narcissistic.

that we're all familiar with the saying, "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus."  This is soooooo true. Men and women will always think and rationalize differently, and until both genders realize this and learn to accept the difference of opinions with some decency and respect, there will always be feuding "among the ranks" (so to speak).

I thought it was thoughtful of this gentleman to make an effort to help his lady friend and do some statistical marking. I also think there are some men who think they know a lot more about this business than they actually know or will ever know. Some are modern pimps and -- if done properly and accepted by ladies and treated right -- that's okay. There are always going to be exceptions to the rule in any business atmosphere, whether you're a doctor or a provider. Please keep in mind that many providers are highly educated women. Maybe some of those ladies make a lot of money and some do not make as much as you think in this business. Maybe some are in this profession because this business allows them some flexibility from the nine-to-five timeframe placed on the majority of the middle-class population. Perhaps many of these providers want to obtain more degrees, venture into artistic venues or take care of their children and spend more time with them. Who knows and quite honestly who cares?

This is a business of fantasy. If done well, both hobbyist and provider profit from it. When people try to analyze it to death, it is understandable because they want to know the "whys" and "why-nots" of this business, but it can also destroy relationships and fantasies between providers and hobbyists.

TER is a great place to post opinions and create stimulation within the community. However, sometimes all of us -- at times -- become annoyed at someone's topic depending on how our day was spent and what is transpiring in our work situation, family lives and so forth.

I think any information about marketing is good, and statistics is helpful and I encourage it. Just don't be offended if we don't take that advice. Gees! I sound like my mother.

then again - what do I know.  I too look at markets and marketing data but from a different perspective... and I too have looked at data - like TER reviews and anomolies and how they play out in a ladies overall performance...  curious...  I too was once asked by a stripper to check out a club for her that she was thinking of working at... I came back with an assessment of client turnover, price, % of the take that the lady would keep - and overall establishment structure (important for visibility of the girl).  in the end - she had to make the call - depending on how she felt that she - individually - would do in that climate.  In both instances - the fate of the individual is not determined by the stats....  but the overall trends can be assessed.  Clearly And CURIOUSLY there are some underrepresented markets....  correlate that with the number of TER reviews... and voila - instant market decision info.

but in the end - it is the individuals call.  yes, we may not be escorts - but we do know them and for the most part care for them.  I personally have never told a lady to lower her rates.  What I have noted however, is that if a lady complains that she has no business at whatever price - market would suggest that either the presentation is not making sense - or her rates may be too high... but that does not say she should lower her rates- it just means that she should look at her business model.
