Movember (a portmanteau word from moustache and "November") is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of Men's health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers; and associated charities. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com.[1] The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health."[2]

As for raising money, people can sponsor men like those running events where you get 25 cents per mile walked. I've sponsored 2 friends with $1 per day for not shaving. I don't think it'll help them get laid, but maybe I don't want them to :)

I thought the whole no shave November thing was some stupid idea someone came up with in here, I saw the post a little while back. Only, now I find out it's a stupid mainstream idea. Ok, if a guy decides he doesn't want to shave for a month he should at least trim himself, otherwise it just makes him look like a dam bum. So what is the idea with this no shave November anyway? Is it a charity thing? I hope it's not because of the Red Sox winning the World Series, although that is a very good Baseball team, they look like a bunch of thugs.

Anyway, just looking to see if anyone knows what it's supposed to be about.

Ask for donations, set up a Non-profit and donate 2% of the donation keep the rest.

I must be living under a rock. I always just assumed a certain population were doing it for the whole hunting thing. That's funny, I mean not the whole men's health thing but that I never heard of it before oh well, I've been called an absent minded professor before so I guess it goes along with it. Duh!

Not related to hunting but those hipsters sure turn into lumberjacks in NYC when they do it.

Just check yourself this month and you'll be helping out the cause, after all, I'm sure you want to keep those BBJ's coming, instead of having whatever it is that gets chopped off when men have manly issues and then the equipment falls apart. No bueno.

I understand that in this case it may have helped but wiki facts can be fabricated or changed by anyone without any verification or substantiation so I don't reference it. The Scientist in me will not allow for it. I do see however, that for something trivial like this it could be a good tool. Thank you for your response, I find it funny that for as smart as I think I am sometimes, I can be quite stupid or uninformed.

I've thought a good fundraiser for them would be for people to sponsor women not to wear a bra for a month, but it's October, maybe one of the summer months would be better.
