Why is CL so bad? Its a public nuisance

I see your point but many of the providers who advertise on CL are not "professionals". Let face many are "lazy" for a lack of a better word. This is not all of them, one of my ATF advertises on CL because she like quanity over quality and she believes that she is not good enough for VIP status.  I give her a pass because her services are professional and not typical of CL girls in my area.

Typical, a CL girl meet you at he door and tell you to take out your dick and feel her up (LE Check), hand the money and she will count it in front of you or excuse herself to the bathroom., where in many cases her "partner" is hiding in there.  Then with the TV blaring, and the phone ringing throughtout the session.

With CL erotic services gone, yes another escort mall will it only anount to the street walkers going to another corner...whereever they are I am not going.

An interesting article..

So if the Craigslist erotic services section is shut down, what is next?  Of course if CL is gone, then Eros will be next, then TER, then anything else related to prostitution.

So CL haters, be careful what you wish for.  If CL disappears, then the calls to shutdown will proceed to the next target, and so on, and so on, etc...

If  that cesspool site gets shut down, another lowlife site will fill the void. LE makes busts on that site all day long because the users are stupid, and uneducated.

If CL is shutdown, then the discussion by those who want to stop Pay for Play will focus on the next largest site, etc. etc..

In the short to medium term, whatever is the next largest site will become the focus.   It will take a long time before another "lowlife site will fill the void", as you eloquently put it.

The users of CL will disperse to other existing sites.  Some of the people who previously were on CL will come to TER, thereby (in your mind) lowering TER in terms of stature.   It will take at least 6 months I imagine for any site to rise to CL's prominence.  By that time, all the users who were on CL will not go to that new site because they are happy where they are now.

When these other sites grow, they will become targets for the people who wish to engender a sense that every single erotic site is bad.   Remember, according to those who do not know better TER is just as bad as CL.  Basically TER and CL ERS support the exact same thing, namely Pay for Play.   To the average person TER and CL ERS are equivelant.

So, be careful what you wish for.

If they close off the shallow end, the deep end will get more crowded, and that's not a good thing.

Following that analogy.   And more people will drown because they cannot swim in the deep end.

C'mon, you know it had to be said..

Look, advertising for prostitution has been around for years before the first TCP packet was transmitted, and will exist in many forms forever.   To single out a specific advertising medium because it is the most popular and wish it to be gone is simply a bad idea.

I would rather CL stick around because it keeps other's focus off of other places like TER, etc..  Plus CL is a tool that used correctly is actually a rather nice place.

But of course since the alias above has either had a bad experience with CL, or is incapable of sifting through the bad ads, he believes that everybody should avoid it.   Perhaps we should ask him for advice on where to eat dinner tonight?

I agree with luv_women on this wholeheartedly.

Why is LE not going after local newspapers?  I would bet there is a higher % of murders per-ad from newspaper classifieds than craigslist?

Prostitution exists, it will always exist.  CL actually helps remove it from the streets, actually, and it's the responsibility of each individual to be safe.  CL also offers "amateurs", non-pros and low-volume UTR types to connect with men who are interested in what they have to offer than seeking out the services of a "well reviewed" high-priced pro.

The media is fueling this, they are the most to blame.  Everyone is out to make a buck, fighting everyone who is out to save a buck.  For every person who rails against CL and their "Erotic Services" section or whatnot, take note on what their incentive is coming from.

Although who knows if the recent tragic events would have been different.

What consenting adults do shouldn't be against the law even if money is exchanged. That way CL would be protected.

Craigslist will win because of free speech constitutional issues.

No, actually if this were to go to the Supreme Court, CL would probably lose.

When I started hobbying in the early 80s, there wasn't an Internet. So we used ads in the back of newsweeklies and magazines. CL, with its insanely low prices and easy-to-use interface, has put a lot of these pubs out of business. But I'm sure existing online pubs will see a business opportunity and take advantage of it. And, yes, other sites will no doubt be built to try and take some of the business as well.

As to whether "we all swim in the same pool" and whether more CL providers will migrate to TER, my guess is that you're talking about different types of markets. So, in fact, we don't all swim in the same pool -- some people are looking for much higher end experiences than you'd typically find on CL, others are looking for extremely low end experiences that you do. CL tends to attract newbies and low end business, while TER tends to play more to the middle market. I don't see that necessarily changing any time soon, even if the CL erotic section were to get shut down for good.

The same law applies to everyone in the hobby regardless of your financial status. Anything negative that happens to one happens to all.  LE never bother with going after Internet providers and hobbyists until recently because they had street walkers to justify their existence. Not that the street walker have all be disappeared LE is working CL. If and when CL is gone they will move up another notch and eventually affect all of us in one way or another. The law and society are against us.  Things will never change until prostitution is redefined and the act in private is decriminalized.

Of course this must be limited.  After all, sex is dangerous, unlike cigarettes, alcohol, sugared breakfast foods aimed at children, etc. That's why they can be advertised and erotic services must be stopped.

My 16 year old receives the NRA magazine (don't ask)which advertises assault weapons capable of chewing up a whole block of front rooms.

Beer commercials are the back bone of sports.

Cigarettes are....o what the heck, this is is all too easy.

We all understand the deal: it is OK that 40,000 Americans are killed by drunk drivers, that tobacco is the single greatest health danger, etc as long as no one is coming to climax, it is all OK.  But just one climax and watch out.

I guess that's what you get when you "put it all out there" and CL is the worst. TER is a slicker version of CL and Eros is a little better. A little more discretion might be the order in both posts, ads and websites...yes even reviews. If the bigoted general public and the bible thumpers had little to discuss around the water cooler, then we would n't be pushed into the  spotlight every other month or so it seems.

But then again you guys want more and more "out there" chit chat and ads and reviews, and the ladies capitulate and give you what you want. As someone has already said...be careful what you wish for and get as this seems like it might come back to bite you in the ass.

I don't think you have much to worry about with all the advertising boards being shut down. Policing the internet is next to impossible. I don't believe that the government(s) are going to give up the vast amounts of resources (i.e. money) to eliminate a victimless crime. There is a difference b/t girls working off craigslist and what that sick bastard in Boston did.

What will most likely happen is this asshole's face will be plastered on all the TV entertainment/news (mostly entertainment) networks, he will get convicted of 1st degree murder (the evidence the police found in his apartment is pretty damaging) and he will get life in prison or (hopefully) the death penalty. Then, he will disappear, the networks will go for the next ratings get-ter and it will be forgotten in the short memory American interest seems to possess. Craigslist will still be around, the skanks will still advertise and nonselective men will see them.

By the way, not all girls that advertise on CL are nasty crack-hos. For some reason a provider I had been wanting to see (well reviewed on TER) advertised on CL when she visited a place near me. Awesome time, quality provider, would repeat. I do look at CL, but I only see someone off CL that is TER reviewed and reviewed well. However, those ocassions are few and far between.
