I'm curious why many of the various boards of this nature use message boards instead of forums?

I find message boards hard to use, as replying to different messages don't promote a linear thread, and can make it hard to make sense of long threads at times. (just try clicking on "view all" and see how confusing it gets)

Another advantage to forums is they sorted by most recent post date, regardless of of original thread creation. In the case of a message board, once something falls off the front page, (like a particularly hot thread that many people are replying to) it's gone for good. In some ways message boards aren't as user friendly as forums, and can be daunting to new members. (even though message boards are the older standard)

Why do so many erotic boards stick with message boards as opposed to forums? Especially one as large as this?
