I know what it is , but I don't understand its point. I've been hobbying for 15 years and never had a provider ask me to give a "fake" review in return for some discount. Perhaps this comes about when negotiating/bargaining which is something I never do? I stick to well reviewed providers .

To be in the good graces of hookers, so they will show you good time..

I have been asked to write reviews many times, and I have obliged, but it was never a fake review nor was it an over the top review.  I write my reviews more like an accident reports. Matter of fact.  If you have ever read my reviews you would know.

Shilling is a part of human nature. Some people just have it in their DNA.  It's not just germane to P4P world, but you can also see it in corporate world.  When I used to work in my W2 job,  I came across many folks, a lot of them mid level managers, who tried to schmooze their way to success.  If you have a good leader he can see right through it. Usually such folks have poor understanding of the subject matter so they have to compensate for  it by kissing ass.

Some people like to write. A shill post (or ANY post, even this one) is such an outlet.
.
There is logical discourse, ethical discourse, emotional discourse, ... and other justifications for communicating "shill" (or any) info.
.
Some just want to be Good Samaritans.

Do you mean writing glowing reviews or do you mean endorsement posts in the forums?

More the fake ones. Specifically the ones where someone just signs up to leave a two line review and says everything wsa 5 stars... Then they are never heard from again in that forum.

Regardless of which definition you apply the concept is the same. To kiss up to someone garner favor.

Great pitcher !! I always think of him more as Red Sox pitcher, although he played for lot of teams including Phillies and Baltimore..  That 2004 was one heck of an ALCS.. I am sure you agree  :D

That is easy to avoid - stop giving free VIP days for writing reviews. Most of the bullshit reviews are from folks trying to get free VIP so they can do research without paying.

Fake reviews might be by the providers themselves.
.
On the other hand there is the general phenomenon of simping. The irony is that most chicks are disgusted by simps. Better to be a bad boy that a simp if you want her respect. Chick logic.

I actually got lost reading this because none of what's been written comports with why I would "shill" on TER. First, if and when I shill, it won't fit the actual nefarious definition of the word, it would be simply as an advocate for a girl who provided great service that I think other guys in my area would appreciate, and for whom I otherwise can only write an AMP review.

In other words: to me, the logic of shilling is to get the word out to fellow local mongers about a hooker that's got me hooked!

No?

Shills are regular hired folks in some businesses, such as circuses and horse-racing (called touts there).  They are hired and paid to direct customers to the business -- advertising expense of a personalized kind.  Another word for shill, these days, is Influencer.  Nothing new about the practice, nothing special to this business/hobby.
.
Please understand and keep the distinctions between a shill, who is hired and paid (perhaps not overtly or visibly, of course), a simp who is not paid (but hopes for favor), and an enthusiast.

and when it comes to pussy, a lot of the shilling that goes on here is to keep a girl the shill likes in his town, so she won't leave and go to another venue.  There is always a market for the "new girl", but girls that stay primarily in one place will usually see business slow-downs for one reason or another (sometimes because there IS a "new girl" in town that everyone wants to see.  Touring girls, especially, will oftentimes extend their time in a city if business stays good.  If she has regulars that want her to stay because for them, because "she's the one", shilling and networking with other mongers is a good way to help keep her business brisk so she will stay longer.  It's not really complicated.

No, LOL, I don't think that's just you. A review is best (when time isn't of the essence). Read more carefully:

I hear you. I thought it was pretty clear by my "if I shill, it won't fit the actual nefarious definition of the word." It would definitely be from an enthusiast's perspective, wanting to give a tip about local talent I think worth visiting, i.e., not the run of the mill. Tables turned: I would want to know about some these girls without the surprise element.

"Shilling is usually about self-interests." The guy you think is trying to keep a girl here, if I read the same 'review,' I would interpret as trying to spread the work while she IS STILL here. There are girls I've been seeing for years and who aren't going anywhere. They landed here in a rotation, got a solid base of regulars in what must have been a short time, and have no interest in going from city to city anymore. I don't know how they work that out with their agency, but they clearly do. I know of four of the top of my head who fit this scenario.

I'm more concerned about the ones I know will be moving on who I think other mongers would like and, equally, who I think deserve a "biz bump" while still here.

I'm still undecided about shilling, although I think I actually did it a couple weeks ago before I had a label for it. See the link.

a "soft shill" because you are promoting the girl in response to a question from the OP.  Responses like this don't have to be on Fridays.  I prefer this kind of promotional help because it's not as "in your face" as the guys who start the Friday shill threads trying to shove a new girl down our throats, or more correctly, shove US down HER throat.  Lol.
