This topic has come up 100s of times here. This is not a new "peeve."
As fish said, a lot of free websites do that. The websites charge a fee for access. The providers get nothing out of this fee.
The providers are either unaware they are locked, or don't know how to unlock them.
I checked to make sure it was how I wanted it to look. And I check it often, to make sure no glitch has come up. For instance, this past week, I checked and saw my videos player said, "Videos Unavailable." I freaked out and contacted my website host, and found out the bandwidth had exceeded the allotted amount. I had not received their 'Warning' email, and so I paid an additional fee and it was back up within minutes. (Sorry, my nickname is "Gabby") but my point...do provider's not look at their own websites, to make sure all is well? If not, why not?

Ladies....I have been having a slow burn about this for awhile and since its the end of the year (thank goodness) and we will soon be into 2017, lets start off with a little change that will help everyone.

What am I talking about?  Well those of us hobbyists go onto the city board of our choice here on TER and we come across your posting.  You tell us a little about you, mention a tour date, seem to want us to come visit you.  We click on your link, find hopefully a profile.  Alls good.  We then click on your link to your website hoping to learn more and see some photos which will stimulate us to contact you.  And then all of a sudden we find out its a password access site.

I mean really!  Its like we are getting all revved up and then you hit us with the cold shower.  What is the bloody point.  Look, I realize you might want to have a section of your website with more personal intimate photos that are password protected, but jeez, even general photos are often password protected.  Doesn't make any sense to me.  So give this a real think those of you who have this system.  You're not helping yourself and you sure are frustrating those of us who would like to consider spending time with you.  Me personally, I just click off and never bother to look at the post of a provider who does this.  Now is that really the way you want guys to respond???  Out with this anachronistic behavior.  Come on ladies, show us your tits!

Couldn't agree more. As soon as I see password protected or register I move on too. In the providers defense I think some may not even be aware of it. The website itself may be set up that way and they need to unlock the pictures.

One more hurdle to clear.

Keep it simple, a few tasteful recent pics, rate info/contact, some bio, a few ground rules, likes and dislikes.

MfSD>>>>

that is protected and requires that the provider give you permission to view. I do not waste the time. These women have gotten bad advice on how to market their services in a highly competitive industry.

I'm right there with you.
A site to promote her business and then it's exclusionary. Makes no sense.
The other irritation is Secret Benefits link popping up all the time

Agreed. Those websites are doing more to hurt business than help it. I leave the site as soon as I see the pictures are blocked. Photos make the difference between me calling or not. I love twitter accounts that show what a woman looks like day to day and are always current. Photos photos photos. Showing your outfits, your style and personality. Sometimes I just want a woman to wear thigh-high black boots and a little school girl outfit. If I see she has a fair amount of photos wearing clothes like that, I know I can request those kinds of outfits. If I want elegant, and classy, the photos will show that's how that girl likes to dress. Looking at the photos is what is going to sell me, so I couldn't agree more. Those websites suck

If during my verification process, a potential client gives me provider references, and any of the provider's websites are password protected, I will not use the provider as a reference...thus, I must contact the potential client and request another reference = a time waster and a pain in the ass for the potential client and myself.

No professionals like time waster .All professionals want to make money....A lot of time professionals not helpful references process.Professionals don't like money going somewhere.I wouldn't waste time on professionals need password access or permission access websites.Bad way to market business and run off clients.

Yeah, it's like Macy's putting a curtain up in front of the display window.  Sort of defeats the purpose.

Very often, the free websites that gals use have a default that requires password protection for their photos, and often the gals don't know how to override that.

Someone once posted on here how a gal might overcome that PW protection.

If anyone knows, it might help the situation if they post it here again

I own a small business and I am a sole proprietor (repairs and service). I use Weebly. It is drag and drop and has templates to choose from - an easy website to create your own website, or, for a small amount of money, it can be set up for you and you can easily update it by yourself. No password protection. You get a free blog available to you, which also can easily (one click) be set to post to a twitter account, or a facebook account when posting. The good news is that in this industry, you don't want to be easily found like a business like mine. All the websites for the ladies are direct link from TER, or P411 for example. You dont need ongoing SEO maintenance. I think they charge $8 a month (paid at once).

The websites for providers are stupid easy. One page for about me, a second for a gallery, a third for etiquette, a forth for contact page. It automatically switches to a mobile page if you go to it from a mobile device. Once its set up, all that would need to be done is swapping pictures, or adding new galleries. They are quite simple to maintain and to use with a little practice. You can add a calendar and so on

And will close down sites if terms are violated. Weebly is one such platform: https://www.weebly.com/terms-of-service

The type of site Mr. Fisher mentioned is freeware specifically designed for escorts. It's not the highest-quality (if it's the platform I think it is, it contains ads). For some reason, galleries are password-protected by default. It wasn't always that way; I think that a few months back, the software suddenly changed without notice. So a lot of girls weren't aware that their galleries were no longer public...

I do agree that most girls should look over their sites... seems obvious. However, TBH, I can't remember the last time I've looked over mine (but I did check it when it went live, and do update it from time to time).

True, most of these password protected sites are to benefit the hosting company and not the lady herself, but not all. What I find ironic are the women with password protected sites/galleries who also have P 411 profiles or Eros ads complete with pics. Try to explain that one. lol

I have to confess, I am with the consensus here, I am LAZY, if you want my money you have to make it easy for me. If I have to "join" anything, other than TER or P 411 that I already belong to, but if I have to join anything just to have the slightest idea what you look like, I am simply going to move on to the next lady. I am not going to be "mad" about it, actually in 30 seconds I will have forgotten all about it, and you for that matter. (the generic "you" of course)

Some photos can be cropped or taken in a way that they're not so revealing. Hair worn up and not shown at all, cropped shots of body parts only (an ass, a torso). (While I can be paranoid, I'm not so paranoid that I really think someone would recognize me from a pic of my ASS.) That's pretty much what I did. I had 3 pics thus taken that were public.

Then, in my protected gallery, I had photos that gave a better idea of what I actually looked like. Full body shots (cropped at the chin), styled hair, clothing, etc.

Some girls show facial pics or raunchy nudes in their private galleries. Some girls want to cultivate a members list for marketing purposes, i.e. newsletters

GaGambler501 reads

Having a public and private gallery is fine by me, but if I can't get so much as a glimpse of what you look like without "joining" something or contacting you directly, I am moving on.

There is another reason other than laziness I am not reaching out to a provider to get access to her pics, by reaching out to her either I am interested in seeing her OR I am simply a time waster, BUT I doubt one in ten providers meet my minimum standards for looks, which means the chances are 90% I will NOT be getting back with her to book an appointment, and I really don't like being put in the position to have to tell a woman "You aren't hot enough to fuck" I get more than enough of that in the sugar bowl

Many do not have website designers or webmaster so or their own web design skills. Many use those template websites, create them and then leave them be. Some will go back and look at them but have no idea how to make any changes. Some providers have websites they don't even know that they have. There are websites created by scanning the Internet for ads and photos, without the providers knowledge or approval. Many of these same providers that have locked photos on their websites, have photos available elsewhere on ad malls and such.

As to your question, "why not?" Simply because not all providers are "up" on the business end of this business.

We're trying to sell ourselves after all, why put clients off when you're trying to attract bookings? Very strange.

She seems to make it a habit here of white knighting for stupid marketing ideas time after time. They deserve better.

...password-protected photos.

VOO-doo mentioned it on the Newbie board in a post about a different subject:

"When I had to establish a new persona due to a stalking issue, I had no public photos... they were all secured in a password-protected gallery."

You can protect photos from being copied without having to put the behind a password protection website.  There are ways to do this.  But when you make potential clients jump through lots of password protected sites just to see a photo it seems to me that you are marketing against yourself and driving business away.

as mentioned in Voo-doo's post in your link, and Tori's post above, and despite how many people might say it's poor marketing, it must be working for those ladies. However, this topic keeps coming up on the boards here because of all the ladies that don't even know that their photos are locked, or don't know how to unlock them.

I just dont see the photos on the website thats locked. I have to look at other ad boards like TER ads, Euros, P411, Twitter...something. If they have no pictures I can see anywhere, I look elsewhere. I am all about being safe and discrete, but even if your face is slightly blurred out, or half your face is chopped off, I still have to see your outfits and your body...if your hair is long or short...

Password protecting = BS. Blurred faces, cut of heads = perfectly acceptable and expected. There simply has to be someplace to see you.

You saved me the trouble of quoting myself.

Some other reasons might be: she's a party in a court proceeding (divorce and/or child custody, or something else), or she just has something at stake (a job or scholarship) and would rather lose some appointments than take the risk of being recognized.

As per munchmuffin's post, I wasn't afraid of my photos being copied. I was afraid of being recognized. First, by the person who'd stalked (and outed) me. I didn't want him to know I was working under a new name.

Second, by hobbyists. All it had to take was ONE hobbyist saying that the new provider X = old provider Y. My stalker read the boards, so if that happened, it would have been all over for me. I password-protected my photos for about 2 years, and finally came 'out' when I felt enough time had passed without issues.

(I had good reviews, good business, and a great reputation under my old persona. I'd been doing well financially, and took a big hit when I had to go 'underground' as it took quite a while for my new persona to get going. So there was no ulterior motive).

It's not always about "playing hard to get" as Tori put it. However, I'll say this: the clients I saw during that period were most reliable, respectful group of clients I've EVER had. I experienced ZERO flakiness, cancellations, soft scheduling, etc. Even in session, I was given impeccable treatment - much better than I'd ever experienced up to that point.

Many clients said that my precautions made them feel more comfortable scheduling with me. To them, I seemed like the type of girl who dabbled VERY safely, selectively, and discreetly. That is attractive to a certain type of client. (And, generally, it's not the type of client who NCNS, or pushes boundaries, or overstays).

I wouldn't do it again unless truly necessary because it is NOT advantageous, moneywise. To me, it stands to reason that a girl would not sacrifice a significant portion of potential income, unless there was a compelling reason for her to do so. Yet, clients always seem to resent seeing that login box on a girl's gallery as if it's a personal affront to them

...too.  Why didn't you blur your photos or just show your body and not your head?  It's hard to believe that a stalker could recognize a provider from only body photos.

VOO-doo256 reads

For one thing, even a body shot would be recognizable to people who know us well, or see us often. The clamor for accurate pics being what it is.

In my case, pics were sent to family/friends/employers. (Did you know that it's possible to unblur photos? Well, guess what. It is. The face was not 100% sharp, but the features were reasonably clear.) But, even without my face, the combination of body, hair, and the type of things I said on my sites/ads - just really general stuff like interests (i.e. music of Chopin, cycling, scuba diving, macrobiotic fare), location (NYC), international travels, etc. - canceled out plausible deniability.

Also, stalkers LOOK for us, obsessively. I changed my hair color and style, and took photos in different outfits (all cropped at the lips) - but, I still didn't feel comfortable putting myself out there. Whether or not I was recognizable to him in my new photos... I certainly *felt* recognizable. I didn't want to take the chance. Had I not protected my images, I wouldn't have been able to sleep.

And why take the risk? I mean, I wasn't extremely busy, but I still did fine with password-protected photos.

Even without a stalker, for some girls, the risk or fear of exposure is too high for their personal tolerance. If they can afford to take precautions, and it makes them feel better... why not? Private sites are not a deal-breaker for all clients, regardless of what's posted here

VOO-doo457 reads

When using my new name, site, photos, and hair.

They wrote to me saying, 'If this is XXX, I'd really love to see you again.'

If I didn't trust him to keep his mouth shut on the boards etc., I played dumb.

I still don't advertise on TER because I used to be somewhat active here, and I know that some lurkers and posters have a dearth of free time, and an overabundance of concern with our lives and businesses.

Obviously, this was something very frightening to me, and I hope you can now see why I (and other providers who fear exposure) might feel more comfortable with all photos private

I edit out all identifying marks, even going so far as to completely remove my tattoos, etc. Despite that, I've had several people from my personal life recognize me. Proportions and body shape can be more identifying than you'd expect.

All reved up.  I will never join anything just to see photos, so I just move on.

Just as I do.  I have no problem at all if you don't want to show your pix without a PW. I hope you have no problem if I don't see you.  I'm lazy and the extra step is a killer. Just as an ad here is if it has no pic right in the copy. I will just move on. Lots of tuna in the sea. If that was your plan, you succeeded.

I have wanted to see someone bad enough to register on a website and none of the times I did, was I ever granted access. I've registered on a few ladies sites over the years and never once have received an auto generated email with a password or a password from a provider. Not even a typed response from the provider asking for references. I use P411 and have 25 okays, I never have an issue getting dates unless the provider actually calls the girls and they don't remember me. I never seem to have an issue getting verified, but have always had an issue getting access to see locked photos on a website. I don't bother trying anymore. If it has a 100% failure rate and my name and info are "out there" each time I try it, I have since given up ever trying again

checking for new updates. So asking for the simple introduction or email first seems logical.

I've seen my content on other ladies' ads (who have publicly "dissed me" in the past by the way lol). And some are still doing it!

I am constantly rewriting stuff, and it is getting pretty exhausting writing for other people, especially people who have told others they're smarter than me - but still steal my content lmao!

There is one who took a bunch of blurbs from my ads and put them all over her agency girls' sites! I had to rewrite everything.

Do I want to spend the time running around and chasing down other ladies to take my stuff off their site? Or should I just take the ten minutes it takes to write new content? Over time, however, it just drives me nuts - and I have also considered locking my site after doubling my regular base. By then, I won't really need to rotate in new clients but 1-2 per month. At that point, I will probably want to week out the wankers anyway lol!

But really, I can see why anyone would get exhausted if their content is really good.

It's just easier not to worry nor look at the sites. Just roll your eyes, talk a little shit about them, tell yourself you're smarter than them, and move on. That's the only way to cope with things that drive you nuts.

Lots of fish in the sea, and there are great ladies at all price ranges and styles. We are very lucky to be living in this world nowadays!!

xoxo and Merry Christmas or Festivus (for the rest of us)

telling me the about a "cut and paste" incident. She being a highly rated gal, has a unique and risqué writing style. It seems another highly rated local gal c&p a big chunk from her website onto the transgressors Ad Board post one week.

When the victim lol checked the transgressors website, she found that she copied two long paragraphs word for word onto her own website. The victim wrote the plagiarist an email asking wtf. Crickets. And nothing changed on her site...

Imitation is the purest firm of flattery... but can be as annoying as hell ... I don't have that problem ... lol

with playing songs I'd written live was, people recording it and then copying them, and copyrighting the songs under their own name.

What that means is I write a song that is close to my heart, and if I decide to go live with it, I can get slapped with plagiarism when I was the one who had written the song. People say, "I wish someone would steal my song - I would be so flattered." I had a guy say that on a date back when I was on match.com.

I didn't get laid because I told the guy he was stupid for thinking that, and that stealing art isn't "flattering". It's a downright evil, lazy, and selfish act.

As far as my writing is concerned, the other girl (especially if reputable and high end) can come back and say that I stole her content. Hence, why I continually change things up, since here we can't really copyright our material. lol!

A new sector I will be introducing for 2017 will require full screening before even reading it, except for a small blurb and a picture explaining what's inside. The reason is, I have something I want to start that has been brewing over 2015-2016 in the sensual domination arena, but not quite. However, I don't see anyone else doing it high and low, so I don't think it actually exists yet. Do I want to blast that publicly all over my site, and have other people take probably 2 years of brewing, planning, testing, and work? No.

It will be password protected to the nines and back lol! If someone stole it, I would not be flattered. I would be PISSED. lol! So I understand why some ladies protect their sites. After a while, it just gets old.

lmao!
