When AMP shuts down, where do they go?

I'm new to this and to TER.  I went to a place in NYC a few times and had a great time with the same girl 3x and a dud (for me) 1x.  A week later, I called and the usual mamasan voice said, "We're closed for renovations, call next week."  A week later, no answer at the main number or the unpublished number.  A few days later, the main number is out of service but the unpublished number still works and goes to voice mail.

What do you think?  Raided? Shut down? Lost their lease?  Simply decided to move?  But most importantly for me, How do I find the one I really liked and had a good time with?  I've been looking at other web pages for her pic with a new name, but haven't found her anywhere.

If they were raided is it likely that most of the staff were immediately deported?  (Or worse for them, put in jail?)

How does this (shut downs, relocations) work?

I left a couple of 'innocent' voice mail messages asking for a new number but had no reply so I stopped calling.

(I'll have more newbie questions in due course.   Thanks for your advice and info on how this works.)

Answer all of them.
You may want to post a 411 on the NY board about the AMP in question.
Many times, they reappear under a new name, in a different part of town. If they are closed for renovations they are telling you they are moving or closing.

and after laying low for a while, they will usually turn up somewhere else, but maybe in another city.

I got close to one Korean AMP worker whom I gave my phone number too.

Every so often she would call and warn me that the last place got closed down, and would contact me with her new location.

Unfortunately last year, she called with the same message and I never heard back from her, so I'm afraid she is deported now, or something similar.

I'd known her over ten years, and it's a real bitch.
