The latest rage in beauty standard: a thigh gap

the thigh gap has been a "thing" for, pushing 50 yrs. Pretty much since the latter 60's when women with curves were considered attractive, moving into the 70's with the 'twiggy' look, and gaining super traction in the 90's when the whole 'heroin chic' thing got legs.

Unfortunately, this look is largely incompatible with any women who isn't naturally tall and thin, OR any women who has any kind of muscles mass in her legs (other than the bare minimum needed to hold her upright).

who knew. Oh brother! The idea behind it was that if you had a gap in between your legs you were having sex with everyone in the neighborhood(for free). It's crazy how things change. I honestly don't care lets see how many women are going to get surgery to accomplish this look. Oh boy, not for nothing but Wiki isn't a reliable source. Would have failed a student of mine if he used that as a reference ;-) just saying.

I like thighs especially thick ones(to an extent).

This is probably one more thing, that will encourage U.S. males to question their sexuality.

'cause......

wait...what? I don't get it.

I'm really hesitant to even ask, Vern, but can you explain what you mean?

They are claiming that something(thigh gap) that is not feminine, is feminine. It's like saying up is down.

If you are raised to believe this, you will.

the size of this gap. I never knew till now just how important this is to me.

Hoot Gibson.

Back in the 50s and 60s we had all kinds of gaps:  missle, credibility, intelligence, etc.

Too bad this one tarried too long.

be the person who measures the gap? It's always been around, but usually only thinner women have been so blessed (blessed? lol)

Any suggestions on the measuring device I should use? And btw, does bow-legged count? I don't think it should. I'd imagine most of you, especially the women know I'm kidding. You'd be surprised!

On a more serious note, I'd hope women have enough positive self image to improve their bodies in more traditional ways. But this is usually directed toward younger, more vulnerable types. It's sick how society and the media prey on a women's low self esteem to create unhealthy images of what a woman's body should look like.

... but Boob jobs are still ok, right?
