After the second or third crazy excuse I gave my Dr., I got a 'knowing look' back. I spilled the beans, and we talked about the hobby. I left more educated, and now get tested more or less automatically every three months and am pleased with the arrangements.

One excuse that works well if you don't plan on using it too often is "oh Dr, i went in for a massage and before I knew it she had her lips on me....should I get tested??"

I used it twice before I fessed up.

the testing and results will wind up in your medical record.

If you EVER need to apply for medical insurance, the new insurer will request your permission for access, as well as a list of pretty much every doctor visit you made & why. You can be rejected for even having something like this in your record. Even if the company you work for has everyone fill out an application for a group policy, these types of questions will be on the application. How would you feel about the persons in the HR department perusing your application with THAT in it.

There are also multiple other scenarios in which your medical record would be viewed or viewable, including to a spouse.

Not free and not cheap, but they do a full battery of STD Tests and use top labs for the work. Results take 3-5 days usually. They also provide optional PRC DNA HIV Testing which is supposed to be more accurate (cost is higher around ~$360 I think). Regular testing is  around ~$250 or so.  Confidential service, no name is given to the Lab, just a number (and the lab techs look at you 'funny' when you give them only your number  ... LOL)

I have used this service a few times:
www. localstdtesting.  com
You have blood drawn at "labworks" or "q lab".
Payment & results are over the phone.

It is $630 for complete battery, which includes
Herpes 1,2
Hepatitus (two types)
HIV,
Syphilis
Gonorhea
clamydia

If I remember right,
test is valid 3 days after contact
all results 5 business days, some are back in 48 hours.
Rather expensive to use on a regular basis.

Too bad there's no way of knowing the providers results!
