I surely hope you've ONLY been musing about ESCORTING in THIS depth. If this level of subtlety and thoroughness is your usual pabulum, you will shortly end up being Donald Trump’s mortgage banker, if not outright owning the whole banana.

I just recently received an E-mail, from a legitimate program, inviting me to audition for a European t.v. show which promises to be so big, it is thought to cross over to the states. The program, will highlight and glamorizes the lifestyle of the escort her clientele and the amount of money she is able to make. I for many different reasons declined, but wanted to know how does the hobbyist and providers alike, feel about the exploiting of such topics, I mean it seems to me a program like this could leave the whole community very venerable by so much unnecessary exposure. Its like the purple elephant in the middle of the room, A t.v show like this would be worst than flashing a red flag in front of a bull. Oh I am sure the provider that makes the program, would prevail, by an increase in demand,& and eventually not having to work any more if it lead to bigger things, but at the same time I am sure the over exposure, would surely lead to her demise if she was not so sucessful.

second verse the same as the first, etc, etc.
The idea is interesting but not for this hobby.
She had worked as a sex surrogate for a number of years with licensed psychologists in a clinic, while working on her Ph.D. . Subsequently, she had published numerous self-help type sex books based on her experience.
She also appeared on many national TV shows that claimed they were interested in exploring the subject of sex therapy in a postive manner. Yeah, right! Every time the lights went up, the vermin would attack. She found she was only being invited to be the metaphorical punching bag that everybody teed-off on.
The list of slime-balls on whose shows she appeared are names with which we're all familiar. Invariably, she was the easy mark for insults and put downs from the other members of the discussion panels or by the hosts themselves. The favorite ploy was for the host to introduce her to everybody, and then immediately put her on the defensive by asking her if sex surrogates really weren't "just whores." How's that for a positive discussion? I've got the video tapes to prove it.
Don't expect to be treated any better, regardless of how they pitch the show concept. There are few industries with more unscrupulous snakes than the entertainment industry. They will say and promise anything. In fact, they lie so often, and to so many people, they see it as normal. And to think they had the audacity to call her a whore.

Hi, I'm new on this site & these forums. I found this thread rather interesting.
I am from UK originally and have watched a show where they unveiled what goes on underground in escort/massage activities. Some people are interviewed by their own clients without even knowing it and over a period of time. They'd show how some people are resorting into being providers through struggling to make ends meet. Like this foreign provider was given citizenship because she genuinely confided into his "long term client"(one of the program investigators) why and how she came into this job. They were good in this case, they hired a lawyer for her because apparently her life was in danger, she had to pay a large debt to her boyfriend in a Mafia in her country of origin. They protected her and paid off the balance for her but I don't think that no matter how your relationshp gets with your clientelle that they need all that excess detail. It's your personal stuff and they might just be backstabing you, good for this one, she fell into a kind private investigator. They caught a lot of people unaware but these were really nice cast but again most of these providers did what they had to because they had issues. I think you made a wise decision by refusing the offer if you are looking into carrying on as a provider. It sounds good but kind of scary too.
Good luck!
People who participate in these types of programs better have a tax return that matches the income shown on the program or they will be getting a little visit from the IRS.
A few years ago HBO did a reality program on parents who take drugs. One scene showed a father sharing drugs with his child. A few months later he was arrested and sent to prison.
Better to remain discreet IMHO.
Not a good idea in my opinion. While such a show would be tittulating [pun intended} and a ratings sucess, it would bring down a rein of terror from the "good, moral" citizens. Remember that much of what is euphmistacally called "escorting"/"hobbying" is illegal in most ares and SEX is a favorite target [in almost any form] for the right and even some of the left. [if there really is a left in this country]. And, as we well know, most of the weight would come down on providers who magically lure us innocent guys into their beds!! [l0l]
Reality TV shows tend to be exploitative, can you imagine how they would present a woman in the sex industry? Or her clients? I find it hard to believe they would be interested in glamourising an escort or her clientele. It would be easier and appeal more to a mass audience seeking ever more titillation to present the escort as some kind of lonely, vulnerable woman out of her depth and her clients as sad, desperate men.
Can't imagine there would be as much interest in confident, stable women who've made a conscious career choice or men who are perfectly happy, balanced individuals who enjoy seeing escorts and don't have any deep-rooted issues.
Ratings are much more important to producers of such shows than honesty or objectivity, IMHO.
Knock down the phony Hollywood glamour of the biz, and know what you'll find?
The REAL glamour of the biz!
And there IS real glamour, but it won't last long for the sort of person who would agree to a deal like that. Carrie's middle paragraph says it all.

Any hobbyist who would consent to be part of such a program would be a complete moron (much like the people shown on the HBO docu-mercials), in my opinion (of course).
On the one hand if it could be done in a way that showed the more sensitive, tasteful side of the hobby, then who knows, it may be a good thing. I can't imagine that ever being the case though. If it's for entertainment it will, best case, come off as a bunch of idiots pissing away money (like on HBO) or worse, portay everyone invloved as degenerate scum. (ala "Sweeps period" on your local news stations.)
