Good things about themselves? One provider who posted a new Ad on Eros recently got a review on the other board. When you look at the profile of the review based on his YahooID. The profile was created 6/13/2004 (yesterday) LOL. Part of self promotion?
Why is it that, whenever there is sad news about a provider,Or whenever a hobbyist adds a bad review to the boards, you will see some providers/agencies promoting themselves by adding links to that direct post. When does self promoting becomes too much? On another board, you see agencies/providers adding links, and some with pictures of themselves or ladies, included in the posts. How does one link coincide with the intent of the post? How do hobbyists and providers feel about this type of self promotion?
I don't think it's a matter of ladies being insensitive, it's a matter of habit. Here on TER, a lady can post her link with any post she makes. Now if her post was along the lines of "Well, that's too bad...look I'm available", then I'd agree wholeheartedly with you. BUT, I doubt that is the motive of the majority of ladies here. I guess I'm just a crazy optimist!
Yes I am aware that a provider can post on any link she wants But, my question is, when does it become tacky? What is wrong with just leaving condelances, and leaving the links and pictures out of the posts? I think what I am trying to say is, what is wrong with being respectful? Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to speak with some providers and hobbyist friends who felt the way I do. But maybe we may be in the small minority I know when someone passes away, I will offer a sad commentary to the post, but why would I want to place my link or a picture to the thread? The conversations that I had with other's this weekend, just had me wondering the same.
If someone is able to contribute to a post, I of course would encourage it. When I personally contribute to a post I intentionally will not add my link. Since it the discussion I'm interested in. The only exception of course, is if I'm announcing my travel itinerary to a city.

I checked the threads on the Boston and National boards that refer to the recent murder of a provider.
The National board thread has NO such links embedded in ANY posts (as of the time of this post).
The Boston board has only two such links - one web link and one embedded picture. The embedded picture is from Friends in Boston and it is huge. I find their huge pictures to be annoying but they do it ALL the time, not just in that thread.
And again, none of this violates any type of posting rule.
the original post was about being tacky, not about violating the terms of posting.
I think he's right on target when agencies or providers advertise themselves on a thread related to a sensitive matter like murder. It is classless. While they may not have viloated a TER rule, it's certainly a violation of common decency.
This reminds me of a funeral I was at last year where an insurance salesman that was attending the funeral was taking advantage of the occasion to ask people if they had enough insurance should something similar happen to them. Sure, he mixed his sales pitch up with offering his condolences, how sad he was, etc.. but it's freaking tacky none the less.
Also, re-read Thomas's post, and then you will get the gist of what I am talking about. There is a big difference between being respectful, and just being down right tacky. How is it that you have a person who is dead, but yet you have people advertising (yes a link added on means they are advertising, even if they are not openly admitting to it) in the same thread? I think that you are just being insensitive.
Many are downright desparate. There is a famous board that serves Chicago and many hobbyists and providers use for making connections... fine. But there are few on there who respond to every request, no matter the part of the city or the type of request. One in particular, posts for almost every opportunity. I had considered seeing her before I realized that she would see ANYBODY... Now, repectfully, a provider can see anyone she chooses, but most of us would hope that you are "selective" otherwise you are just a HO (albeit, well paid).
