Condoms are not birth control?
In my limited experience with providers (less than 10 so far).. 2 have already told me that they do not use any birth control.. They figure why mess with hormones and they always practice safe sex, so who needs it..
I was shocked by this.. My little guys are still, theoretically, viable.. so the posibilities scare me to death.. and both of the providers are quite active as well..
Is this fairly common? I woulld have expected exactly the opposite.. To be so active with multiple partners would seem to be russian roulette.
I have no idea. It's not something I look to discuss with providers, it's really none of my business, and not why I am with her. BTW, 2 providers who don't use personal BC is not a representative sample of the hobby world. However, I would think that most providers who can still get pregnant would also use some form of birth control. As we know, condoms are not 100% fool-proof, they can break. I myself had the chop-job years ago, so I don't really worry about getting anyone preggo, but of course, still use the baggie.

It was very predictable that someone one would assume the worst because of this simple question.. no one said the two were representative.. but it does represent over 20% of the providers I have seen.. and no the 1st question is not.. "Do you use Birth control".. why would you assume that?.. I didn't say that.. and it's not a stupid question.. just a question.. In both cases they are providers I have seen many times.. sometimes I wonder if the point of the General Board is to find ways to criticize or for information.. so chill.. I asked a question.. and the answer does matter at some level.. I would not cancel any appointment if I found that there was no birth control in use other than condoms.. but I wondered if the practice was fairly common.. that's all.. get over it..

I agree that birth control is a very valid concern to anyone with "active swimmers" and my experience mirrors the OP's, but with a much larger sample size.
To answer the OP, yes it is quite common for providers to rely strictly on condoms for birth control, the why is beyond me as I have had many condoms fail over the years. Personally I can't imagine taking even a small risk of getting pregnant by a "john" if I were a provider, but yes it is a lot more common than you would think, AF's idiotic comments not withstanding. I have no idea what the actual percentage is, as I don't ever come out and ask, but judging by the reactions of the ladies who have experienced "condom failure" with me, I would have to say that 20% is a rather low number, I think the actual number is much higher, which I agree seems incredible in this day and age.
BTW I am often accused of being "mean" myself, but I try to direct my ire towards idiots and morons, not people asking legit questions. The OP's question was as legitimate as any I can think of.

You seem to fail to realize that there are varying degrees of probabilities. Condom fail rate is different from birth control fail rate.
Also nothing is impossible to know. You'd be surprised how much info can be learned indirectly. Reasonable estimates can be drawn.
I make a living (not related to birth control) taking advantage of the differences in probabilities.

My assumption is that all providers are on birth control, if they are not, they're stupid. Condoms break. Had one provider say "Now hammer me really hard, I don't care if the condom breaks, I'm on birth control." That one made me think...

I had a question.. I keep seeing both of the providers that told me they take nothing,. and know that it IS their problem.. hopefully.. One has told me that BBFS may be OK with me because we are so close.. no way ! .. I don't get snipped because my wife & I never had kids and I kept thinking I might get divorced and have a kid.. Hell, with the revelation.. it still might happen.. yes Condoms ARE birth Control. but other methods are more reliable.. My parents used condoms and had 6 kids..

Thanks for the support and the honest answers.. I will never ask a provider about the subject.. but in my case.. after many visits.. both volunteered the info.. I was only mildly curious.. I knowabout plan B.. and so on.. but that can't be good for a woman.. but probably better than a pregnancy..

If kids is not something you want in your personal life with your SO/wife, why don't you go get sterilized, so you won't have to worry about impregnating someone.
That's something you can really control. Whether a hooker is on BC or not, unfortunately you can't control.
The copper causes the egg the inability to attach to the uterine wall, preventing pregnancy.
Three nice things about it are 1. the lower costs in the long run, ($1,100 for insertion, which some insurance companies will pay for 100%, vs. $3,600 of monthly prescriptions over ten years based on $30 / month prescription,) 2. No hormones involved, and 3. You don't have to worry about forgetting to take a pill. (Missing a dose brings the risk of getting preggo.)
Makes for a heavier and longer visit from Aunt Flo, but better than a ten month + lifetime visit from an unplanned child.
It takes ten minutes for the GYNE to insert and doesn't involve a lot of pain. Suggested for ladies who have born children in the past. If you haven't given birth, ask you doctor of any risks involved. (I.e. IUD Becoming Dislodged).
Probably not a good idea to not be on some kind of birth control if you can help it.

but the side effects, IMO, are way better than what a hormone will do to you. If a period lasts longer - meh.
There are warnings for women who have not yet given birth, such as dislodgment. But that's within the first year of insertion I think, then the risk is much lower. If it gets dislodged it can damage the wall and cause infertility. Of course, I'm sure the percentage of risk is low for that.
OP talks about how common birth control is and you post that iud has no hormones, fully addressing the reason why some use it over hormone birth controls. Anonymous tard then assumes it's a drug when iud is a device.

gals (not necessarily providers) who got pregnant while on the pill. I know not every provider is on birth control besides condom use... It was freaky, when I was looking for cuddle time, she excused herself to the bathroom. Thought nothing of it but she was gone longer than expected. I mentioned it & she explained she tested condoms post play. Presumably would have taken emergency measures if necessary.
Personally, I'd be in favor of redundancy of Birth Control... but not up to me.
Even if an accident happens, there is emergency birth control. We know about all this stuff so don't be concerned about it. We've been dealing with preventing pregnancy since before you came around. BC messes up some people's body and causes high blood pressure, stroke, acne, all kinds of lovely problems. Let her worry about her contraception. I can totally understand not wanting to be on hormonal BC, though. It can have some pretty rough side effects.
I have never heard of Lybrel but I am on the Depo shot and also do not get a period =) Some people have side effects with the Depo but not me and I don't have to remember to take a pill every day.
I couldn't imagine myself relying solely on a condom. We are all human and human error or too rough of play could potentially lead to a broken condom. I would rather have the extra back up just incase.
What other ladies are comfortable with is their prerogative.

Regarding hormonal birth control (bcp's, etc) there are a variety if medical contraindications obviating a health care provider from prescribing them. If a lady has a history of DVT, phlebitis, stroke, family history of abnormal blood clotting or stroke there is a much higher risk of complications. Sorry to say, smoking unfortunately potentiates that risk. Even some diaphragms with estrogenic chemicals in the ring result in systemic absorption and risk
Personally, I give it very little if any thought unless it is obliquely discussed. Certainly not upon first meeting! Lol

Really, it is up to the individual to decide what kind of birth control is best for her, if she wants it or needs it.
Personally, I do not take hormonal birth control because the side effects outweigh the benefits. It kills my sex drive, makes me breasts hurt all the time, and makes me super irritable. I however do know how to use condoms correctly (i.e. squeeze out air bubbles and put lube in the tip!). I also have always had a super regular cycle and know if it's late by a day. And I had to have an ovarian cyst removed when I was a teenager, which means that one of my ovaries isn't firing on all four cylinders. I'm not saying these things make it impossible for me to become pregnant, but it makes me less likely to become pregnant, especially if a condom is used correctly.
I also keep a pack of Plan B on hand, just in case something breaks or slips off, so I can take it as soon as possible (that's only happened twice in my life). I have been sexually active since I was 16, and I have never had an unplanned pregnancy. That doesn't make me better than anyone, just educated, in touch with my body, and quite frankly lucky that I function in the way I do.
But if all else fails and I draw the short straw in life, I do know where my neighborhood Planned Parenthood is.
And if that comment offends any man reading this, may I suggest not having sex with any woman who is pro choice? (or not having sex with any woman who's stance on abortion is unknown to you). Or, at the very least, don't have orgasms inside her...perhaps stick to bjs
I am dumbfounded that you actually ask and expect to be told the truth. Providers are in the business of telling lies, they will give you the answer they think you want to hear. Luckily you are just one of dozens they have sex with that week. The chances that the child is your s is slim. If however she is not on birth control and she gets pregnant and chooses to have your baby, well I would say you are screwed. Luckily that does not happen very often.
This whole thing is one big fantasy (more palatable than lie for the more sensitive) with barely modicums of truth sprinkled in, at least the first few times any hooker sees a trick.
