A few months ago, I was staying at a hotel that required card access to the elevators.   I was planing on having some company come over for some fun but decided not to because of the elevators.  Have any of you hobbits or providers, encounter this problem and how did you handle the situation?

I avoid getting a room at such a hotel.

When seeing a gal who has a room at such a hotel, the MO has been for her to come down to the elevator lobby.   We describe in advance what we are wearing.    When I see the elevator door open, and see her, I get on and she uses her key to take us up.

Some have speculated on plans to plant a key somewhere in the lobby like under a sofa cushion or similar spot, but I think that idea is riddled with problems as any amount of contemplation would reveal.

If she's coming to me, I just ask her to meet me in the hotel bar. If I'm going to her, there's the solution mrfisher offered where you hang around the elevators and get on when she comes down. Or, what I usually do, is "draft behind" another guest. This could be an issue if she's not staying at a larger busy hotel, but then again, those are the ones that usually require keycard access.

If it's a larger hotel, easy enough to come downstairs and get her. I went to a small boutique hotel where she was hosting, and that was a pain. Reception desk was pretty close to the elevators and booker said just wait for somebody to go up. VERY awkward waiting for somebody as it wasn't a busy time of day.

What made it worse was when I did get on the elevator, you needed a card that was coded for that specific floor. She did say the girl could come down, but she would have needed to get dressed to get me. A definite WTF moment and the first in my long hobbying career.

Usually, just go down and get the girl if she's coming to your room. If its early evening, girls are smart enough to hop on the elevator and come up to your room. Good communication is key (no pun intended).

........ a couple of years ago, I had a  3 day extravaganza in Las Vegas. First night was a 4some in a hotel with card access.  The 3 ladies met me downstairs in the bar and after a drink, the 4 of us went to the elevator like we belonged there. Because , we did.

Second night was a 3some in another hotel with card access. One of the ladies came down the elevator stepped out ,as arranged, without eye contact. She walked around and then waited for the next elevator. I joined her, again without acknowledging each other, and went up.  She went to the room and entered, leaving the door ajar for me to enter without knocking.

Third night was one wonderful lady outcall to my hotel. I just waited in the lobby for her. I knew her well, and we greeted each other like old friends and headed straight for the elevator.

Card security is only a big deal if you make it a big deal. So many ways to skin a cat.

Last year I revisited  a hotel, and alas it had changed to a card access elevator
Fortunately the hotel parking garage was adjacent
I directed my guests to my vehicle parked in the garage where under the windshield wiper I placed the key. For me this worked because I am low volume and most of my clients I met were repeaters.
I stayed at card accessed elevators years ago and the situation was awkward. I’m touring only a few times a year and hope to never deal with the situation again.

As for "card security" I agree that while it can be a bit aggravating, it  hardly is going to stop me from seeing who I want to see.  It's much worse in other countries where not only do they have "card security" but where any women going upstairs to the rooms not only has to be with a registered guest with a key, but she needs to "sign in" at the desk and leave her ID with the front desk until she leaves unless she is a registered guest at the time of check in.

When hosting I prefer hotels that do not require a key for the elevators. But that’s just not always possible. Especially in NYC.  But have never found it to be a prob. Most well established Providers know how to dress and conduct themselves not to draw negative attention.  They are going to arrive looking very nice , but they aren’t going to do anything stupid like arrive wearing the low cut mini , thigh highs and F-me heels .
And to be honest I’ve yet to stay in any hotel that really cares.
I recall staying in NY one time for 5 nights....SoHo , I think. I had beautifull guest visiting me every evening . I met the lady at the entrance and always escorted her back out at the conclusion of our rendezvous. I made sure they got to their Uber or had the doorman fetch a cab.  Never had an issue. Though I do recall toward the end of the week the bell captain smiling and rolling his eyes as I said goodbye to a young lady.

Actually I let the lady determine what is the most comfortable way for us to connect upon her arrival. Greet her as an old friend , spot each other and she follows me to the elevator as if she’s a hotel guest , meet on an atrium floor that tends to be less crowded , the hotel bar etc.....

Like I said , it’s really not an issue for most hotels.

However it is indeed a very different story for the woman. She is at risk if she’s meeting gents throughout the day and taking them to her room. I think most ladies try to avoid the security elevators type establishments. But again , sometimes it becomes unavoidable.
I’ll let the ladies address how they handle these situations.

Nearly all hotel garages are under TV surveillance.   If a guard sees you leave a key card like that, he/she will direct an officer to snag it, and leave you in the lurch.

And that's the best of what could possibly happen when you think about it.

Some hotels are even requiring elevator users to show their room cards to enter the elevator lobby and elevator car (mostly LV, I think).  No more "slipstreaming" onto those elevators behind another guest. You will need a real key card or a real guest to get you in and up.
.
Some hotels have public access floors for restaurants and bars, conference rooms, meeting rooms, services (hotel business or security office, business services (copiers, printers), pool or sports center). It can be less awkward to meet there, instead of the lobby. "Hello, Security Office? Mind if I wait outside your office to meet up with my hostess? Great. Thanks."
.
I have previously proposed lowering your key card out the window on a long piece monofilament to your client waiting below.

these are very often locked from the stair side, so don't count on that.  You could end up having to walk all the way back down again to get out of them.

As for your story, I'm glad it worked, but I never believe any story that involves an uncle, aunt,  or grandparent.

Instead, say you went out without your key, and your wife won't come down to get you because she's watching her favorite show, so she told you to just ask someone to scan the elevator for you.   Now, that's believable.

When traveling, I try my hardest to inquire with the hotel as to whether or not ther elevators require key card access before booking. In the event that I make a mistake, I discreetly hide the key card by the elevators and provide them with very explicit instructions to help my guests find it. Or, when the location of the hotel permits, I arrange for them to meet me at a neighboring bar or coffee shop where I can pass them a copy of the key and we can walk up separately.

Most or all hotels I stay at have "Elevator Security". So for me it's the norm. But I enjoy meeting my dates at the bar before we adjourn. But I'm the kinda guy who get antsy and I hate waiting in my room I need to be around people so I'll hang out at the bar and people watch. Some can't been seen walking through the lobby of a hotel with a hot babe so I get that. But that's my situation, but I don't know your deal.

Better switch from the 4 pound test line to 100 pound test.  You wouldn't want the line to break and lose her over the side just as you're about to pull her in over the windowsill.
.
And do NOT use a gaffer's hook to land her! It could ruin your session. ... And her's.

Everything 4 and 5 star where I host is unfortunately key card elevators.  It was too awkward for me picking up my guests, not knowing what they look like.   Not the introduction I prefer.  I found that going down to a 3 star and getting best room kind executive suite with 2 rooms is more comfortable for me.

In my 'limited' experience, I got tight with the lady and when it was time to meet it flowed smoothly. Sometimes they picked me up at the airport if I flew in. Sometimes they left the door ajar when they knew I was on my way to their hotel. If  was staying at a hotel and they were coming to see me, like in LV, they'd call or text, I'd go down to meet them, have a drink or two and blend in like every other couple there. The point is, if you feel like you're doing something wrong, it'll show.  Who gives a fuck what other people think? You mind your own business and conduct yourself as such, you're good to go. Though, if I was asked how they should dress I would say 'comfortable'. They don't have to be dressed to kill cuz i was already attracted to them and their groove. I saw their sites, read their reviews, and talked with their past clients. Plus, they read about me and checked my references. Being comfortable in how you meet, when you meet, and what happens after makes for a great fucking time...!

Funny Story.

A provider that I booked a session with had decided to book a hotel as her Incall location without staying there before.    The hotel ( as it turns out ) required that you have a key to go up the elevator ( which she didn't know before booking the room ).    She ended up sending me instructions on how to get to her room by walking up 4 or 5 flights of stairs after finding the hotel stairway that you reach after walking past several Convention Rooms on the 2nd floor.    She apologized to me that I had to take a route like that to reach her, but she herself had to figure out how to get to her room without having to go downstairs to get me.

As for yourself staying at a hotel that requires a key, I'd think that it wouldn't be too much of a concern if you just go downstairs to meet her in the lobby or elevator.

Never been an impediment.  Just make sure to go down to the lobby ( or outside the hotel) to meet (incall or outcall), and just walk back up.  In other words, just act normal, and no one will bother you.

Set up an appointment with an agency I know and trust. The face of the girl I picked was blurred, but I had the rest of the description memorized.  5'3", 115lbs, early twenties, shoulder-length brown hair, nice little body.  The hotel was one of those that needs a key-card for the elevator, so the booker told me she'd come down to get me and she knew what I was wearing.

So, a couple of minutes later the elevator opened, gal saw me and waved me in.  She was cute and friendly, and looked just like her description.  Normally I exchange names when I meet a new girl just to confirm, but we had to be discrete in the hotel public areas and I had no reason to suspect she wasn't who I thought.  To be honest, she was so cute most of the blood in my brain was already being re-routed, as well.

So we got to the room and she apologized for not having the clothing request I made. Wait, I didn't make any request like that.  So she called her booker, and then told me "you're in the wrong place". If we hadn't figured it out, I'd have been in the really "wrong place" in a few minutes.   So we hustled back down to the lobby, where we found MY girl waiting and another monger lurking way off in the shadows.  My phone is blowing up with my booker trying to reach me, so I let him know we got it all sorted out.  Had a good laugh all around, but now I want to meet that other girl too.  My guy told me later (he knows her booker) that the two agencies had booked two different girls who looked very much alike at the same time in the same hotel by coincidence.    No real harm done, just made for a funny story.  Fortunately the elevators were off in a dark corner away from the desk so nobody noticed.

or otherwise concerned about appearances, meet outside the hotel to pass on the extra key card, then head up a few minutes apart (the host going first). If the provider is hosting, it gives her a minute to change back into something sexy.

Personally, I'd never agree to a "find the hidden key" or "just just jump on the elevator with a stranger" plan. I met a gal at her apartment incall that had gated parking. She suggested that I time it right to just follow another car in. What could go wrong??? I think the lack of preparedness in understanding how her client arrives, parks and gets to her room discreetly is my biggest pet peeve.

The 'follow the car' scenario happened to me in San Diego in 2000. I wasn't driving at the time and quute literally had to run down an entrance ramp to an underground garage before the overhead door closed. I made it, but it was close. Never again!

Waiting inconspicuously is an art form that takes time to master. It requires acting, a bit of courage and luck and appropriate dress and behavior. It will not work in areas where there are few distractions. It works best when you both have already met in some way beforehand.

It's pretty easy to figure out which hotels are good or bad because as a provider, you can just ask another provider or even a client what are some good hotels in the area you are going to. In the off-chance that it does happen (as it sometimes does) then either meeting someone in the hotel lobby or bar is the best option. Drafting another guest can sometimes backfire as sometimes it will only let you go to that guests floor, and what are the chances they are on the same floor as the provider?

I think if a provider is really professional she will usually avoid hotels that have this problem!

The lobby bar was not very busy so that would have been obvious too. There is always a solution to the issue though. Some of these comments made me laugh too.

One time in Bangkok Thailand I invited a lady back to my hotel.  I used my card to open the back door and to stay out of site, we used the stairs to go up to the 8th floor.  The problem was when she was leaving.  She started going down the stairs and when she got to the bottom, the door was locked, which sure seemed strange to me!  I think she knocked on the door till someone on night shift opened it.

Most hotels in other countries want the lady to at least show an ID and then to call your room.  If you want to be sure of the location, then call the hotel and have them connect you to the room you have the number for.  It's good to use hotels that have the doors open to the outside!  The hotel at home has 2 back doors to choose from.

The craziest hotel security was this;
When the Taxi driver got us to the hotel, they had a big hydraulically operated iron blockade at the drive entrance, with a lot of concrete walls.  Security had to come out and search the Taxi, front to back and underneath, then they lowerd the iron blockade and we drove in and up to the front hotel entrance.

Then just inside the door, was an x-ray machine and a metal detector.  After going thru that check, then was allowed to walk the maybe hundred feet to one of the check-in desk.  They gave us a personally labeled key-card, to use for the room and elevator lift.

There was some very nice beautiful T-queens around, but never tried to bring any of those ladies back to this hotel.

Generally, just communicate with your date. If traveling with colleagues and she is coming to you, just tell her. " In a hotel with key cards and traveling with colleagues so need discretion".  She will generally dress a little more conservative ( at least on the outside) and you can arrange everything in advance. By and large, the hotel staff does not give a flying fuck what you do as long as it doesn't make there job harder. She will know how to,handle and a little advance planning is key. If you are that worried about colleagues, just jump in the Uber and go to her.
