unless I'm mistaken, this SW stuff is already criminal.  I'd like to give them a safe legal place to ply their trade.  And in so doing remove the drugs and the pimps etc.  I cringe every time I read a story about drug addicted prostitutes' bodies dumped in ditches by serial killers.  It's another one of those stories that just shouldn't happen.

What a waste of time and money.  Still, I guess there are more trafficked girls on the streets than anywhere else.  (Not that this will solve that problem anyway.)  Oh, well, at least if Vice is wasting its time (and our tax dollars) this way, the women of TER will have even less to worry about.

Good!  Get the streetwalking side of this hobby to disappear.  That would be a big step in making this hobby legitimate and maybe one day legal.  Streetwalking, trafficking, child coercion and drug addiction will forever keep this hobby from being respected by the public.  Clean that shit up and we just may get somewhere.  We then have to fight back the conservative religious types, the radical feminists and those that would overblow the STD issue.  Smaller hurdles methinks.

with your opinion of "Good!  Get the streetwalking side of this hobby to disappear."

Streetwalking is just another form of the hobby. It's like an escort is a restaurant, and  a streetwalker is a steet hot dog vendor. The street vendor has just as much right to be in business as the restaurant. Now I am all for getting rid of pimps, coercion, trafficking, child involvement, etc. And those things are probably a lot more prevalent in SW than in escorting. I am also in favor of "cleaning up" certain areas. SWs shouldn't be out in front of schools, or family residential areas etc. But almost every city has "red light" districts. Some of those ladies are independent business women just like the escorts, and there is a market for their servieces just like for the escorts. You would be surprised to know that some well reviewed TER ladies actually SW on the side. No, I am not naming names, (and none of the ladies I reviewed do, so don't go looking there) but I do know this for a fact.

I'm in agreement with inicky that the one positive is maybe if they concentrate on the SWs they will leave the escorting side alone. However I wish they would just concentrate on busting the pimpss, and traffickers, rather than the SWs and the Johns.

I guess it all depends how well the hot dog stand is run.  You'd rather not see a sign that says "Cocksucker Joe's Red Hots - it'll make you shit your pants!" on the side of the cart as you're out walking your 8 year old daughter.  If you have SW's hanging out on your sidewalk in leather skirts, stilletos, fishnets and calling out to guys "Hey you got some money in your pocket?  'cuz if you do then I wanna fuck you" then most people would think of it similarly.  I understand that SW's provide good instant sales.  That can be achieved with legal brothels that fit in with the surrounding community when presented discreetly.  That's my .02

I screwed up the quote thing.

Dear Perfectstorm:
Because of the fact that would be the most blatant form of prostitution, it would get the most coverage from the mainstream media. It is a quality of life crime and hardworking people that have the collective ear of their local politician will be intolerant of such activities in their neighborhoods. However, because these big cities don't have some one like the gentleman who produces John TV, they are coerced to coalesce with law enforcement on a sporadic basis because in the grand scale of crime that happens to be one that is the lowest on the totem pole.
Henceforth due to the loitering and soliciting that these otherwise disenfranchised women are subject to perform, they often are the eyesore of their community along with other low level crimes and narcotics activity that has long been a constant in minority communities like the one in Brooklyn that was alluded to in the piece.  This will always be an issue in big cities with high unemployment rates and even more so in places where a lot of residence receive public assistance and who happen to engage in high drug use.
With respect to women that would perform in our demimonde, the tactics are a bit more resourceful and crafty because 9 times out of 10 I would say that our women would certainly be a bit more well educated and usually go about conducting there business more discreetly and professionally. They are also more sensitive and attune to what new techniques and laws that are on the books and make adjustments just like male criminals when law enforcement gets wind of a trend of how they do certain things.  Henceforth nothing will change,in the urban centers with respect to street level prostitution except now the girls will ride in cabs instead of being on the street and pimps from time to time will move to preserve their assets and their revenue.
