The article is comparing two totally different totals and the comparison is thus bogus.  The correct comparison would be to show NOT how many ads were on Backpage before it was seized compared to the other leading escort sites post FOSTA, but how many ads there were on the other leading escort sites a year ago compared to today.
That's the only way to know if other escort sites have actually replaced BP's presence.

the linked article as well as associated embedded links seem more opinion pieces than fact. Also, while I'm not privy to Marinus' White paper, my first reaction to their article was that it read like an ad to attract LE to use their analytics in locating/combating sex trafficking.

"So, where are all the supporters of FOSTA now that basically everything that we critics predicted has come true? "
Right where they'll always be until someone actually demonstrates harm has been done.

it is the escorts who will face more violence and deaths on account of not being able to properly vet clients.

Clients will still go on about the business of finding gals one way or another, and in most cases our problem will be having  some sub-par sessions and maybe some outright ripoffs.   I'd rather that than be murdered by a psychopath.

FOSTA has made escorts too desperate or stupid to do proper screening or are murdering psychopaths more likely to come out of the woodwork and target escorts?

Yes a percentage of providers relied on TER Whitelists and P411 oks for screening, but if those methods are diminished, an intelligent provider will find other means.

Not stopped those ads (indeed, they've increased)
Enabled greater censorship of the internet.
Enabled wasteful and dangerous lawsuits against internet companies.
Made it more difficult for law enforcement to track down and arrest actual traffickers.
Put many, many people in grave risk of injury and death.

Fab resume. We knew that from the beginning. And another point: push the independent escorts to the pimps.
