Hi members and providers,
Whereever you look the economy is BAD.  Job market is tough, and job security is low.  May be I am just a cheap ass, but with a 6 digit income, things are still tight.  I was expecting a rate drop in the industry after xmas and new year but it didn't happen.  Is it a good news or is it bad?
Hope you all are doing well.

Make love, have fun and no wars!!!

A week after she asked that her reviews be removed she asked that they be put back because her phone had stopped ringing.

A few months ago a provider that I have met had her reviews taken down and later put up again. She indicated in a private e-mail to me that her business dropped during the period her reviews were down.

We may have a two-level market here. Providers with good reviews on TER seem to have as much business as they care to handle. It is possible that not all providers without reviews (or with poor reviews) are doing as well in the recession.

In any case, prices (with very few exceptions) were not showing any signs of dropping for providers in Los Angeles with good reviews on TER as of the end of December. I expect to do another survey of TER profiles the end of this month and will report on the LA Discussion Board.

I would love to see prices drop as much as the next guy but it is comforting to know that positive TER reviews are the driving force for the market demand (or for some of the market anyway).

This empowers consumers to set the standard of quality and will keep the providers motivated to provide excellent service if they want the best ratings to keep coming in.

I don't mind premium prices as long as superior service comes along with it.

come visit us in canada! our prices are lower than the states and the price is also in canadian dollars. save lots and have a great vacation to boot!! dana

I met one new provider shortly after her first 2 good not great reviews in TER and she stated that she was getting as many as 200 calls a day because of the reviews.  I have also seen a few instances where a new provider after a couple of reviews raised her rates into the top echelon provider range.  I think that TER and the internet in general have helped raised provider rates by making a more efficient marketing engine than when there were just classfied ads in papers like the LA Express.  Of course with the additional exposure I am sure the providers have a higher profile with LE and any weirdos in general.  I suspect that you are correct about a two tier system.  Many hobbiest's will not want to pay top $ to an unknown when they can arrange an appointment with well reviewed provider for the same $.  I have seen at least one case where a provider tried to raise prices faster than her support base and ended up with problems.  Also I know providers who do not want the high profile created by placing an ad on the internet and operate on a referral basis only.  Their rates are lower than average found here for good service.  Sorry this got so long.

I have seen prices drop with quite a few providers.I've seen some adverstise they are naking their outcall rates, even while traveling, the same as their incall rates.I've seen some offer "winter specials" and half hour specials that were very reasonable. And I have personally been offered some very nice deals in an effort to get my business. So at least around me,things are slow enough to cause some ladies to negotiate.I think this is smart.I learned long ago in business that I would rather have 10 customers at $ than 2 cutomers at $$.

However,I am talking about escorts in the $200 - $350 an hour range. The high end ladies at $500 and up have not dropped their prices at all nor do I think they ever will for various reasons.

It's best to see if some of providers offer discounts to members on the boards.  Mention that to a provider and see. Otherwise, it's tough times and if a provider doesn't have another job it is highly unlikely there will be a drop. Our bills don't get any lower then the next persons. Good Luck.

Gasoline prices came way down recently because people were driving less. If hobbyists visited providers less often, providers would have a "price war" to attract business. Ah, but the little head always wins out, doesn't it.

My guess is that the economic downturn is hitting our fav rip-offs in San Diego, Bridgette and Austin, more heavily than legit providers. There has been a big drop in tourist and business travelers, as indicated by sharp declines in hotel occupancies. Since these are their "target" populations (and yes, I do mean target) for B & A, there must be a commensurate fall-off in their bookings. After all, it's not as though these two can drum up business among the locals.

Combine that with a predictable fall-off in their web businesses (these two put the dot in "dot.con"), maybe we should take up a collection for them. Hey B & A, can you spell "revised business plan."

It's because the market for services is an inefficient one. In Europe, where it's mostly legal, girls work a lot harder to make $40-$50K a year (Spain or Germany), unless they are truly high end or super high volume (like in Amsterdam's RLD).

I once ran a discussion board on Delphi. I asked the group if $300 was a fair price for sex. Not one escort answered the question. It wasn't meant to be a trap, just an honest question. But therein lies the rub.

The market is inefficient for a couple of reasons. First, bad economy or not, there is still a great amount of wealth in Los Angeles. Second, a lot of women treat the gig as more an adventure and not a job (or a business). The truly successful ones, and the more familiar female handles for the most part here are fairly successful...FF, LL, Ashley, Nicole, Jacqueline, et al understand this concept well, although some would not think of themselves as businesswomen. They are secure enough in themselves to understand that they are providing a service which is not strictly limited to equipment rental. Finally, we're pretty sexually repressed people. Remeber just a couple years ago when the GOP impeached and tried to remove prehaps the best President of the previous century because he lied about getting a blowjob from an intern (something which has surely never happened before in DC)? If the rest of the country wasn't so f**ked up sexually, the Republicans not only wouldn't have gotten the impeachment on, they would have ceased to exist after the next round of Congressional elections.

Decent service is available at $120 and quality service starts at around $150 in this town, you just have to know where to look. Many escorts asking $300 will negotiate their rate to $200 or $250 if you ask with courtesy and respect.

It could be worse, you could spend part of the year in Vegas like I do, and look at an average of $100 more per date for less service. I don't even play there for that reason alone.

Permit me to barf.

And then indulge me as I trot out the names of Harry Truman and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.  And, even as a liberal Democrat, I would yield to my conservative bretheren if they were to march out the name of Ronald Reagan, who, in his first term before the onset of Alzheimer's disease clearly impacted his work, was one of the single most effective Presidents since the Civil War.

I am afraid that Bill Clinton squandered more opportunity to actually have a great Presidency than ANYONE in the past century, with the exception of Lee Harvey Oswald.

And it most certainly WASN'T because of Monica Lewinsky.  It was because his own lack of courage prevented him from admitting it, making nice by cow-towing to Hillary once in public, and then moving on.  He FED the Right-wing feeding frenzy for his scalp, by continuing to dish out more and more absurd lies.

The only reason any provider will ever drop her rates, realistically speaking, is if the phone isn't ringing. Theoretically anyways, since I don't give out my phone number :) If a providers rates are not changing, or are going up, you can assume quite simply that that is because she has enough business that she is living comfortably.  The basic truth is.. whatever price the market will bear!  Even in times of depression, sex always sells... the porn industry has never been the one to flop or fail.

I will add for myself... when I see grocery prices dropping... when my mortgage drops... when gas prices drop... when my basic living expenses drop, maybe I'll change my rates. I have yet to see these things happening.  Our EXPENSES are staying the same, so is it such a shock that our prices would?
