He contributes a lot of posts here, though. They do make good reading.
My dear Mr. Fisher, not knowing it was against the rules, posted an ad for a provider friend on the Boston board. Why she couldn't post her own ad, I have NO idea.
Anyhow, he did it, and now the thread is removed and he is unable to post anywhere on TER.
Is this permanent? Does he have any recourse? Can he plead his case to the powers that be? ("I claim cluelessness")
Anyone have any experience with breaking the rules on TER?

Send a PM to Staff...you may also need to send him an email...or 2.

I think TER should give a warning, first, to the accused. People do forget the little things. That's ridiculous.
Hugs,
Ciara
Mr. Fisher - so sad.... please pray to the gods... and see if he can be reinstated.... so sad. At one time or another - if you post enough... you will break the law.... it is human nature.
Dear TER Gods,
We are certain that Mr. Fisher is surely very very sorry for his transgression! Please have mercy and let him come back!
My fellow white knight be smite! I don't know if they'll re-instate him, but it doesn't hurt to write staff and beg for mercy.
One thing for sure, GD will really miss him..
Although my social politics are often the antithesis of mrfisher's I sincerely hope for his pardon and swift return.
I take solace however; that the administration of the TER rules is non partisan, and I would hope that equal public fervor for forgiveness would ensue if an otherwise minor transgression were committed by those less than overtly PC.
He contributes a lot of posts here, though. They do make good reading.
Mrfisher's contributions have been both prolific and meritable.
I know of many in this community that would like to contribute more but have been reticent to do so for just the reasons of cyber dog-piling and keyboard pugilism that you, mrfisher, several others and I engaged in recently.
It is contributions like mrfisher's as well as converse ideologies that will stimulate and invigorate this forum, whereas mob rule by any faction will only stagnate it.
Now; in respect to our censured brother.
ATTICA...ATTICA...ATTICA...ATTICA!!!!
For starters, you don't get 'banned' for posting an ad for a provider, at least not on the first offense. If he were banned, he would not even be able to log in. Moderators cannot ban members.
Most likely, Mr. Fisher has simply been temporarily moderated for his infraction by the Boston board moderator. Being moderated, his posts will only appear after they have been approved by the moderator of the board whereever he submits a post.
He should directly contact the Boston moderator. Contacting admin or staff is pointless, as they will merely defer that type of correspondence to the moderator who took the action. For the most part, TER stays out of the business of moderating the discussion boards - leaving it up to the individual volunteer moderators to enforce the TER posting guidelines.

I took the news as given by Bev. Banned is not what's happening here. It's possible that Bev really doesn't know anybody who has really been banned.

I had the honor once of being banned from the boards, due to mistaken idea that I had made a post that was inflamatory about one of the board monitors. I simply sent an internal email to the mod and all was forgiven after I had explained my true intent... it sounds like MF just made a simple bad call in judgement and if he admits the error of his ways should be considered for reinstatement.

First I ask is he banned or just moderated?
(To the best of my knowledge if banned he cannot log in under his user name, or just cannot log in at all)
I suggest that he (and you if you wisth ) write to Thirsty ( the Boston Mod) explain that it was a mistake and request to be reinstated.
me being from JOISEY I read the Boston board often and note that mrfisher is a frequent contributer to the Boston (and other ter boards too) and that he never insults any one nor is
he rude and never causes trouble of any kind. His posts are informative and fun.
Therefore if you and mrfisher ask thirsty in a nice way stating the good mrfisher has done on the boards there is a good chance thirsty will put him back.
Thank you

What's the world coming to? This is the equivalent of going to a federal prison with rapists and murderers when you got pinched for jay-walking. Most of the rest of us get moderated for excessive flaming or, in my case, little smart-aleck posts (like this one).
Like the others, I highly doubt he was banned. Probably on a time-out until the Boston Mod decides to set his posts active again.
for any of you who are here for the first time. I think the rest of you know the difference between moderated posting status and an outright banning.
My take on mrfisher is that he's a pretty smart guy. He knows the difference between being moderated and being banned. I'm sure he also knows that he can't post an ad for a provider even if he is her man. ![]()
Generally speaking, I moderate someone to get their attention. Once they contact me, I know I have their attention and I usually moderate them (unless the Mind Your Own Business rule has added to their time in purgatory.)
Thanks for understanding.
thirsty
What can I say? It's the only thing that worked on NYC.
In addition, wouldn't mrfisher or his lady gotten a faster answer and resolution by email, PM or a post on the appropriate regional board rather than here?
thirsty
I started a thread on the Boston board (that has been taken down)requesting that mrfisher be reinstated .....stating i thought he is a good guy and did not intend to break the rules and was just trying help a gal etc. etc.
so I may be me ( MAIN NUMBSKULL) who is the unintentional cause for mrfisher being put in purgatory.
So I say to all, especially mrfisher, I AM SORRY.
Flame me if you wish
Thank You
While Mr.Fisher is a very intelligent man, he really *doesn't* know the difference between being moderated and being banned. He just called me up and told me he'd been banned. I reacted (or overreacted) from there.
And NO he was NOT advertising for me! I'm wise enough to advertise for myself!
I'll be sure to let Mr.Fisher know that he's only being moderated, and explain what that's about.

Uh oh! I believe the escort in question is not my good friend Ms Beverly Fisher, it was ME! I hope Mr Fisher's association with me gets him out of purgatory soon. Thanks for trying Mr Fisher!
To post my own ad! I think Mr Fisher, being the knight in shining armour he is, came to my rescue to validate me as a princess! hehe
then what was his violation? Did he reply to your post that contained the ad or did he start a new thread and posted a separate ad?
I assume the latter but your post has me somewhat confused...
I wonder if our gallant White Knight will have a tinge of Black Bart in him upon his return from this experience.
What in the world ? SOmeone musta had bad soup!!
This is crazy !
