This seems like a perfectly reasonable use of an alias to me.  Supposing that he has a change of heart, this would be a bad time for "hobbyist X" to say that "provider Y" is off his list.  Instead of bitching about an alias, why don't you consider that it's the only way this could be said without outing the provider (assuming that he's reviewed her).

Besides, ego_check has more posts under that alias than a lot of the posters here, so it's not like he's an unknown.

I hate to turn in my mangina badge, but EC has a point.

Some gals I've met have turned me off by constantly assuming that they are my one and only and I didn't like it.

Fisher,  it's not the post itself...I have no problem with that.  Its the approach that, agree or disagree, there is going to be an instant, inane, aggressive, irrelevant (OK I'll stop) comment from the OP that takes the thread from a discussion of what he originally intended to something totally different.  If the post was truly made for the purposes of talking about this point everything would be done to keep it on track, not derail it.

then his statement "I have to dump her" is grammatically correct. If he has already dumped her than you would be correct in your suggestion that he change his wording to "had to".

All that aside, his real point is a valid one. You don't have to be all studly to get tired of a provider who wrongly assumes that you "belong" to her. It has happened to me on many ocassions, and I "had" to dump them, and I will "have" to dump the next one that tries that kind of crap with me in the future.
