I heard that the hobbying governor of New York was once a prosecutor that went out of his way to ruin people's lives, beyond his duties as a prosecutor. Heard some he prosecuted were found later to have not committed the crimes, but this happens everywhere now and then.

Didn't know if this is true, if this is the case then maybe he is getting bit in the ass for it, poetic J

Dayum! I so much hoped he was a better person to bring attention to the hobby. As it was, he ruined a lot of hobby-lives while he hobbied on.

Depends on which side of the table you sit.  Many of those prosecuted only did things everyone else was doing. The problem with this defense is that j7ust because everyone else is breaking a law does not make it lawful.  White collar crime, especially in the corporate world is harder to identify and many "innocent" persons get caught in it.  I used to have a test for employees that spoought to find out what the threshold was for what they perceived as acceptable conduct.  It started with taking something form the company trash and moved up from there in small increments. It was an intersting exercise as there seemed to be an almost bright line of acceptable/nonacceptable behavior.  As each year passed I noticed in the responses though the line seemed to move up a small amount as to where the behavior was unacceptable.  The reality was that except form taking it from the trash, each question involved a criminal act.  In talking aobut the results over time, the reason it was moving was it was what everyone did in the company so it seemed acceptable. I finally had to develop a company policy with a hard line and it was very low in the range.  Spitzer simply found the actions unlawful and went after persons and let the judge and jury decide.  While a good number of lives in corproate were hurt, morality and judgment should have played a part and if it had they'd not have crossed the line.  They ultimately were hurting those who bought from the company, the company suppliers, the investors, and many employees who had to get cut to make up for the losses or maintain the bottom line.  He brought a sense of justice and reasonableness back into the corporate world though it was a t a cost and corporate America has had to adjust to a new way of doing business as a result.
