From the article - I am not sure about this but - it was in the article - and like you I would love to hear from a lawyer with respect to case history. Preferably one who works in this area of the law...
That begs the question: how far do cops go in order to make an arrest?
All it takes is some heavy petting, Tabash said: “Any kind of sensual touching in a paid-for context is prostitution, including a body massage.”
But one prostitute advocate says the law allows cops to go all the way with the escort.
“The law has been upheld in several Supreme Court cases—cops can have sex with [a] prostitute and then arrest her,” said Norma Jean Almodovar, who has worked both sides of the law as a former Los Angeles police officer and a call girl. These days, she likes to be called a “sex-worker activist.” Almodovar is executive director of an organization called Call Off Your Tired Ethics and president and chair of the International Sex Worker Foundation for Art, Culture and Education.
This is a very old article from a few years ago.
Well, I had never seen it before. It was sent to me from another forum. Thanks for letting me know!
Elite escorts (internet savvy) are upscale (most are college educated).
Escorts are knowledgeable about what they are doing.
Escorts are doing this not just for the money.
The stereotype of pimp/escort does not fit many of the independant escorts.
Escorts usually arrange for their own safety and legal defense (either an agency or a "buddy system"
LE is coming to grips with the internet and escorts.
Escorts come from ALL walks of life - including former LE officials.
Escorts can enjoy the biz as much as the guys.
LE can have sex - and then make an arrest - how bad is that!
You can always learn something new -every single day! Thanks Kat!
realize that was legal! Most providers in the biz ask a guy to get undressed first. (The dogma has always been "if the guy gets naked, he's not a cop"). Any criminal lawyers out there want to speak up on this issue?

blast from the past! If you take a close look, the person on Mark Sullivan's (head of vice for San Diego) screen is little ole me. Yep, That article came out about a week after I got busted. They merged a small blirb about my bust with another girl named Jennifer they busted who was visiting for Superbowl touring with Miami Companions.
"Two weeks ago, the cops carried out a sting against a single alleged Internet prostitute, whom Sullivan said was apparently “very patriotic.” Through her website, “Jenni” offered a “freebie” to one military man with orders to ship out to the Persian Gulf. Since one of the vice detectives happens to be in military reserves, Sullivan faked documents saying the detective was about to ship out. Since she was offering a freebie, the plan was to bust her on charges other than prostitution, but another lucky man in uniform got there first, so money changed hands and “Jenni” was hauled in for selling sex for money".
To answer the question regarding how far they will go, certainly some have done more, but with me, the cop got naked, asked for a massage, I was naked too, then started negotiating for greek. Thinking he was safe because there had been body contact in the raw, I spoke to him but then started back peddeling when I started getting suspicious. The case did get dismissed. Not sure if it had gone to trial if I would have won or lost, but I had a very cleaver attorney who went for "speedy trial" because it was summer time, he said the state wouldn't be "ready" because of vacations etc, and it being low on the scale of misdemeaners, it would get put on a back burner. Upon 30 days, my lawyer demanded a 12 man all day jury, they couldn't produce it so that is exactly what happened, it got tossed. If the case would have gone to trial. He was going to dispute the "furtherance" issue. Meaning you can make deals all day long and all night long, but you have to prove "furtherance" or effort to collect money and go forward with the deal.....
However, as with anything, you need to hire the right attorney. The one I retained at first, basically just took my money, then told me that I wasn't being offered a plea agreement and I should plead guilty!!! Hell, you can do that without a damn attorney. So I took the loss and found another guy who actually worked for his money. He was an attorney with integrity....
I learned that different areas have different policies on how far the cops can go. Apparently a cop can get naked in San Diego, but it appears he cannot allow you to touch him because in his police report he said he "was lying on the bed next to me". NOT that I sat on him naked rubbing my "AHEM" hands all over him......

It is really nothing new, it has been ongoing for years. In fact I do have one friend who will remain unnamed here, that was in Dallas touring. The undercover cop actually got a bbbj from her, then gave the code word and the other cops came busting in from an adjoined room. Her lawyer said that in most cases the Judge or Jury will not even acknowledge what the cop did. Even if the cop got his hands slapped or paid time off for the offense she is still having to prove her innocence in a court of law because the prosecutor will not drop it regardless. This is becoming more publicized though and now is coming to more peoples attention via the media. She went to trial and still ended up being charged for solicitation of prostitution and prostitution and some other stuff I can't remember. She made the mistake of keeping all her cash in a bag in a Hotel room and they seized all of it. She was financially devastated. She had to pay the fines and do a minimal amount of jail time. At least that is what I understood her to say.
Yes, I too would love to hear a criminal defense attorneys take on this!
As per the article:
"But silence during the exchange of money won't protect against arrest. In the eyes of the law, once any exchange of money occurs, an arrest can be made".
"The entrapment defense is only available to someone charged with a crime when the crime was not contemplated by the defendant but rather planned and induced by police officers, and the defendants participation in the crime was the result of persuasion or fraud by the police, noted attorney Tabash.
When assessing whether or not entrapment exists, one need only to ask this question: was the conduct of the law enforcement agent likely to induce a normally law-abiding person to commit the offense?
In that light, prostitution is exempt from entrapment defense".
"For his part, Sgt. Sullivan sees prostitution as cycle of addiction whose only cure is arrest. "It's a problem of sex addiction, he said. "These men try out girls and use them again and again. And just like one motorcycle ride it's never enough, the men keep going back."
Sex addiction is bullshit. "Curing" the addicts who need it. Sex is so central to human beings that it shouldn't be talked about in that category.
Congress could make no law that's anywhere near as important as sex. No law will ever be as exciting or beautiful than the consentual sex it is restraining.
some things should not and cannot be legislated.
At a bar or hotel, leave $ for the bartender and $$$ for the woman(discretely) as I get up, then meet her at mine or her room 10 minutes later.
I should be ok then
It was in Detroit. Or is this just a good chance to travel and offer specials that LE picked up on? Maybe the artcle is a couple of years old, like when my beloved Raiders got thier ass kicked by Tampa in SD? Regardless, it is pretty disturbing that LE is spending so much time watching us.

No, my dear. It was when Oakland played Tampa in San Diego. I believe that was 3 years ago. That is how old that article was. It is also the main reason I keep that same photo on the front page of my website. It was my 15 minutes of fame...... LOL
And yes I know it still goes on. And by the way Jenni, you're hot! Sorry, my bad, I guess I should have read a few more of the posts before I inserted foot in mouth.

I see the name wasn't changed to protect the innocent. Not even the spelling.
