Curiosity Question- how long after a tooth extraction before oral sex is safe?

I've seen wait a few days after dental cleanings, and minor dental work but a tooth socket is open for weeks.  Anyone know?

Bad practice. You'd be no better than a provider who knows she's menustrating and let's you dine.

Well, I'm not a dentist but I do play one on TV. Kidding. Anyway  it is an open wound and should be treated as any other open wound.  Just thinking about a guy DATY on me with a hole in his gum is kinda gross, sorry.  Perhaps you should ask your dentist lol!!  I would refrain if I were you, also....do not drink hot beverages or use a straw. You don't want to end up with dry socket. That is a killer.  Hope it wasn't your front tooth!!!

When I had a tooth pulled over the summer, it was nearly a month before I attempted oral sex.

By then, the extraction site was healed.

I would wait until after you have the stitches out or they dissolve as is the case with some newer stitches-a week at least. The socket is not technically "open" for weeks otherwise you would still be oozing blood.

Everyone has their own comfort level with this sort of thing. I actually read a post by a provider who provides mouth wash for her clients as she prefers that they don't brush their teeth right before an appointment.

.....now, was this just 1 tooth, or did you get dentures?....take them out (the dentures) when you heal...i've heard a few providers say in regards to older gentleman performing daty, "once you had gum, that's the only way you'll cum"....true story...

Looking for info for a provider getting wisdom teeth out-

interestingly- the couple dentists I polled hadn't encountered the question before.  Volunteered lots of info available on socket healing but no one knows how long the open socket would be susceptible to STD germs.

The standard reply was "Geez, no one ever had the balls to ask that one before!"

...on whose tooth is being extracted and who was going down on who.

If your tooth is being pulled, I imagine a blow job would be safe immediately after the procedure. Ask your hygenist -- I'm sure she'll tell you.

Lex is correct in that it depends.

As an actual dentist, there are so many variables. Esepcially so when it comes to wisdom teeth.

Are the teeth erupted? soft tissue impacted? full bony impacted? how impacted?

Will a flap need to be laid in order to remove?

The correct answer is the extraction site needs to be fully covered over by tissue. Not granulation tissue. This will only fully be determined by follow up visits post surgery

So there are no quick answers. This should be addressed with the surgeon before the procedure and again at the follow up visit.

And the answer will be a much longer period of time than most here suggest.

And yes, dentists 'get' the hobby. :)
