I’m not horribly tech saavy, so looking for advice/opinions. Do we get a vpn given all the changes going on with internet privacy et. al?

VPN, download tor and google (now while you can) dark web engines

and suscribe to ladies websites for pre-screening. Time to go EVEN MORE vanilla so yea... u will see more pics of my workouts and my dinners haha

As mentioned above, download and install the TOR browser, AND install a VPN. I use Express VPN and it's always on; it's part of the startup sequence on my laptop. You can also install TOR and a VPN on your cell phone, too.

Use TOR + VPN.

Here is my elementary spiel (taken from my twitter s while back)

“If you’re using the Tor browser, you’re surfing anonymously. Your activity is being sent through a series of servers called Tor exit nodes. Your internet provider (Comcast, Verizon, etc) can see that you’re using Tor browser and might try to block the connections. You can use bridges to get around that. The TOR website can explain this better. Anyway, using TOR, your service provider generally can’t see your activity. Tor is a bit slower than regular browsers because it’s going through multiple servers. Your activity on TOR appears to come from the last server it used as opposed to your real location. Keep in mind: Tor browser is not the most safe as far as malware. Also because the servers are hosted by random people, they have the ability if they wanted to to see your activity. Also, in some ways.. using Tor on a personal network and logging into your personal accounts defeats the purpose. If you REALLY want to be anonymous, use TOR browser from a public location and never log into anything (your personal gmail, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) That doesn’t mean it’s not helpful to use anyway... just saying.
Onto another thing: VPN. It allows you to connect to a server securely. While you’re browsing, it will make your internet provider think you connected to only one IP address or site. After that connection, they can’t track your activity. Your activity is going through the server you connected to. VPN services are faster but most of them tend to log your activity. Which again kinda defeats the purpose... For the most anonymity, go all out and use both VPN and TOR. VPN first then TOR so the internet provider doesn’t see the Tor activity. Just keep in mind, this will be slow browsing.“
