Vaccines

I browsed the archives looking for information on vaccines related to this hobby.  I already have Hepatitis A and B vaccines because of overseas travel and associated risks of bloodborne pathogens and contaminated food.  I hear an HPV vaccine has or will become available but only for females.  I am a man.

I read on a Canadian board some blurb about other vaccines for other STDs but the poster supplied no references and a Google search has proven fruitless.

So if a man wanted to get the maximum vaccination defense regimen -- other than a condom and carefully choosing providers -- what can he get?

The researchers that have developed the vaccine for HPV for women are developing one for HPV for men. The one for men is not ready as of yet.

The recently licensed vaccine is for young women.  I read a thourough review discussion of the subject of this vaccine (unlicensed) for men on Medscape. (I'm an infectious diseases doc.)  The bottom line is that it is quite likely that it works in men.  Since I am very sexually active I plan to get the vaccine myself. I'll have to pay out of pocket for it I'm sure as insurance wont pay for it, but I've decided it is worth it to not (likely) get warts or worry about getting them.  Warts and HSV to me are the worst (potentially, not always) STDs and if I can reduce my risk for warts I'm going to do it.
