Upgrading cell phones?

My regular cell phone seems to last a year or 2 before it needs to be replaced.  My hobby phone gets realitively little use, most of it's life is spent sitting turned off in it's secure location...  I'm wondering if I should upgrade my hobby phone on a regular schedule?  Perhaps match it to my regular phone's schedule.

is to make and receive phone calls. As long as your hobby phone is functional, I see no reason to replace it. Unless of course it is from the 90's lol

when I decided I wanted to use my phone for other things it wasn't capable of doing it. Now I have a fancy phone that does everything yet I still do things the same way.

A cheap little phone that does nothing but send and receive phone calls will last forever. Less things to go wrong with it so don't change. Depending on the type it may not have GPS in it which was the case of my much older cheaper one.

and email, both of which are very useful to me, why bother?

I have a nice Motorola flip phone (Trak) but it's so much bigger & than my new regular cell.  I could not just discretely swap them in my belt holder as I do now when heading to a meeting.  I can run into friends at the local eattery & the don't know when I'm out the door I'm gonna get another lunch!  LOL.
I'm not in a rush to swap but think I'll do it.
