Thinking of cold, flu, the simple everyday stuff. When in Dublin or Paris or even a few Midwest states like St. Paul, I'm slightly cautious about picking up a bug that all the locals have had in their systems for years, become immune to, but if I pick it up from food or airborne or whatever, I get sniffles and such. I wasn't thinking about the serious stuff, although I was partly thinking about what the Good Marquis might've been subject to back before anyone knew what a virus was.

Hence, the leprosy quip, a joke.

And no, it's not like they arrive on palettes and we pick them up at the dock. No disrespect was meant, but as often is the case...you can finish the thought.

While reading the Marquis de Sade's "Letters From Prison," I started to rethink a rule of thumb many of us have recently embraced. The notion that only patronizing providers who are native to the area where one resides on the face of it seems like a good idea. Stimulates the local economy, avoids the disappointment of dealing with travel weary women suffering from jet lag, lessens the exposure to imported viruses-- lots of benefits.

But the good Marquis ended up spending 14 years in prison over scandals regarding the women he kept at his chateaux, all French girls that had grown up within a hundred miles or so.

Surely in the 18th Century there were sufficient women who would have made themselves available who had traveled across Europe and even arrived on the trade routes from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Wouldn't play dates with a few of such imports been safer than locals working so close to relatives and employing the services of well known bawds?

So my questions are: do gentlemen feel more comfortable or less comfortable with providers in their own area? Or do you prefer those visiting from other parts of the world?

Does the possibility of multiple sessions with a neighborhood provider outweigh the potential risk of outside intrusion?

Are providers more comfortable at home or touring other cities? Does working in one's own area inhibit social life in the local clubs and restaurants?

And what benefits and disadvantages do you see in hobbling locally?

I prefer to stay local. I like regulars. IMHO, you get a lot more for your money and a lot less hassles over the long run. When I call a regular, she usually answers, and if not, I know I will get a call back that day. The out of towners are most likely not going to be that responsive, plus they will bring imported viruses!

I had one out-of-towner turn me down because she was overbooked on a three-day visit. Or maybe it was only two days. Whatever.

less travel, less carbon pollution, etc.

But I have to admit that I see my share of traveling gals, and also travel myself a bit, so I'm not one to preach on the subject.

I just hope that they don't start a carbon tax on traveling gals.

Some of us avid hobbyists live in areas where there just aren't many local gals available.  So visitors are always welcome.  That said, on the rare occasion that a local girl who appeals to me sticks around for a while, I'll visit her over and over.  I like the easy friendship that develops with a regular local gal

I'm kind of in the same boat as sweetman. When there are good locals and we click, I have become a regular, but for the most part I see touring ladies, and see providers when I travel

That was the first thing I thought about when I rad his comment and laughed.

In fact I went a bit further and thought about the range free providers vs the caged and then thought about how they might be trucked in from the nether regions...hey it was a creative comment. I like creative and good humor.

I'm not sure what's in it...but I guess that if you add water it will grow.

When it looks like this...you're done.  Then you can repeat...often

evolution -    even though we are not literally "mating" with providers the evolutionary urge is to breed with those outside of your own circle or tribe in order not to weaken the herd.   That, and the fact that they are interesting and beautiful and that socially I would not have much opportunity to connect with them is perhaps why I prefer foreign and "exotic" providers.....

Are there providers from West Africa touring your area? Fucking Ebola, man.

the opportunity for repeat dates is much higher with a local lady.  Also, sometimes touring ladies are a little less GFE because of the stress of travel, being in a strange city, etc.

But, I have seen traveling ladies from time to time, especially when I have developed a friendship through TER or another site.

Sometimes I really like someone and want to see her again. With someone dropping into town for the weekend, that ain't likely to happen.

you may run into them when you are with your significant other.   When you travel or they travel from another area, you are less likely to ever run into them again.  I think that makes a lot of men feel safer
