I'm typing this as Channel 2 tells the story.

9 customers were arrested who showed up during the arrests!
26 suspects in handcuffs.   A "tip" was called in and the police found evidence of all the operations being linked.

Chinese and Vietnamese interpreters were called in to work with those arrested.

The pictures show "regular homes" in residential areas with wooden signs outside.

Not very clandestine operation that's for sure!

I wonder how many gang shootouts the police had to drive through in order to make the prostitution arrests....sigh....

rarely does LE just "go after" a prostitute... usually it is one of the following:

1) NOT a low profile activity - that is - it is obviously a site of prostitution - which is why folks need to move around some... or have a secluded site.

2) Someone pissed off a rival (another escort or agency) - and the rival has dropped a dime.

3) Neighbors are upset... about something - and call LE to investigate....

4) In the case of an agency - ex - employee or customer is pissed... and call in a report...

or at least that is what I have observed... just is never a random event.

When a report is made, the police HAVE to investigate. They have to determine if it is a legitimate report or not, and if it is then they have to take action.

see people coming and going from a residence. That is what happened to several of the trick pads in the San Fernando Valley.  They started out as drug investigations. Once the Narcs determined it was only prostitution, they turned it over to vice. One trick pad was taken down because one of the neighbors called to police and said people in the apartment were running a fencing operation and receiving stolen property.

how fucking dumb can you be!   In a "below average" community you put up a cheap wooden sign done by a sign painter that says "massage parlor"  "beauty shop"   and then you have tons of MEN showing up.   8th grade education decision.

So the "anonymous tip" could have been a next door neighbor just tired of seeing all the "high end car" traffic around her house.

It's like the bank robber who writes "this is a robber" on the back of HIS deposit slip and gives it to the teller.

In Chicago, the vice unit routinely goes after girls, especially on EROS.  They don't need a reason - their survival depends on making arrests.

But it seems these guys work once a month, round up everybody they can, and then spend the other 29 days drinking at the bars all day.  

parent caught his kid perusing Eros online and decided that LE needed to do something about the "problem...?"  and that parent stays at it long after his kid is in college or otherwise has left the nest... just something to do....

Then you don't know anything, and are only guessing from what you percieve to be happening. I was an MP in the army and although I do have some disagreements with laws and policies of many kinds, I hold police in high regard.

All the police bashing I see gets under my skin sometimes. Imagine trying to live without absolutely NO police at all, ever. A police officer does NOT instigate an investigation of any kind unless he/she sees a crime FIRSTHAND. A police officer is told by superiors where to go and who to look for at different scenes.

I am not going to argue against Magnum's claim because I don't and never did work on a vice squad, but having been in the police line of work in the military I have a pretty damn good idea of what goes on.

I know allot of people in LE.  I'm in the legal field. So its not perception, its first hand knowledge - but I don't know everything that's going on of course.

Chicago cops are far better than State cops - those are the guys who think they are in the military.  Bunch of A-holes.

It is simply NOT true that cops are reactive only - investigating only when they see a crime first hand.  The vice unit is set up to actively go after people.

What they SHOULD BE doing is going after pedophiles on the internet, and leaving consenting adults alone.
