No, that’s not a misspelling or a quote from Elmer Fudd. It’s an idea to help lower the volume of Traveling Provider posts about NC/NS occurrences.

It’s sad and I’m really tired of seeing the traveling ladies getting stood up and losing a big chunk of their traveling expenses. And like many others, I don’t like to see my own home town get a bad rap because of a few careless and/or ill mannered hobbyists.

There’s already a White List in place. I don’t know if I personally am on it, but that makes no difference right now. What I’m thinking of is adding a category of “Underwriter” to it. Hobbyists would have to volunteer for that status once they’ve made the White List.

So let’s do a “walk-through”.

Lucious Lilly from Lilliput is visiting and has 8 appt.s booked during her 2 day stay. (All of varying length).

No sooner does she get into her room and get online than she sees 3 cancellations. Not critical yet, but not good. Only one of her two appts. that evening show so now she’s 50/50.

Each provider knows what their “bust” figure is so let’s say that it’s getting close to that. She can hope to get through the visit and cover her costs. Maybe there will be a last minute booking. Maybe not.

As an alternative she might post a “UW” alert. Basically this would be a revised availability post to “UnderWhiters” which would then have the opportunity to fill in at a reduced rate. It’d be up to the UWs to research what that discount might be and I won’t make any suggestions regarding it. That’s up to the provider to figure what’s needed to cover the expense.

It would also be up to the provider to verify the White List status of anyone contacting her. That should be her comfort level that she’s dealing with someone reputable in the community.

I actually have been a “reserve unit” for two ladies that I’ve known for some while. I took no discount either and actually only had to fulfill my “duty” once.

I realize this isn’t perfect but there doesn’t seem to be anyone else offering up any solutions to this.

In discussing this with two other hobbyist friends, we thought there might be a tendency, on the part of hobbyists, to not book traveling ladies in the hopes that a “UW” post would pop up. And while that could happen I don’t think ladies are arbitrarily going to head into a town without some pre-bookings. If they do then perhaps they’d best revisit their personal strategies.

Thoughts?

It might be better to network with providers in the town you are visiting. Some providers maintain a NCNS database locally. They find a guy will double book and NCNS on one the providers. Some guys are really bad, they will book with 8-9 visiting providers and only see one them.

Basically, some guys, book with providers and cancel, on purpose, knowing that as cancelations happen, desperation rises and the lady is more likely to offer a discount.  

I now have a list of KISA (knights in shining amour) who I can contact and will fill in any spot with very little notice... they pay my full fee for a session, but will often take me out to dinner or lunch if the cancelations have been particularly bad.

I also often keep a "back-up" list of guys who wanted to book a particular time but were too late, they do get to see me at my pre-booking rate if that is the case.

Of course, this is a much newer lesson I have learned...
