This reminds me of when I was a stripper and all these wanna be Femme-Bots would come and audition but they couldn't handle how spicy the salsa was. I would tell her keep away. Tell her to find some sugar daddies and serve it up. They seem to stagnate around weekly newspapers. The last thing I would ever do is advise any woman to join an agency. I think its sex slavery. (Bomb away agency mafia) If you care at all for her, keep her away. Agencies screen terribly, and will work her to death. She should make 100% bottom line, because she is the bottom line.

A few weeks ago, a very dear female friend of mine answered an ad for an agency here in the Northern NJ area which was soliciting women to work as escorts.  Naturally, she was promised huge amounts of money, which was hard for her to disregard.  Her next call was to me.

From my exposure to agency girls, I know it can sometimes be tough for them.  My friend is quite experienced sexually, and while she seems to have no problem becoming sexually involved quickly in a relationship, once in such a relationship, she places considerable value on fidelity.  I think she could eventually develop the emotional distance required in this vocation, but I'm not sure how long the process would take, nor what emotional price she would pay in the meantime.

I refused to give my friend any direct advice since, not being a woman, I felt I lacked the standing to TRULY make such an offer.  So,  I simply tried to paint as clear and un-biased a picture as I could of all aspects of the business as I have seen them.

I did  suggest my friend call an independant provider friend of mine (they know each other) to get a provider's input first hand.  The answer my friend received was basically to go ahead if she thought she could handle it.  I was hoping she'd be given a little more in depth view of the business from an insider's viewpoint.

At this point, I'm really not sure what would be best for my friend.  If I hadn't been asked for advice directly, I'd have minded my own business.  But my friend did ask me what she should do.  She's about thirty, is attractive and has a rack that stops traffic, so I'm certain there'll be a market for her.  I'd just hate to see her be hurt.

Can you ladies offer any insights I can pass on?  Thanks.

I too have always been involved in a relationship that was (supposed to be) monogamous prior to becoming a provider.  I think that if she sets boundries for herself (no romantic relationships from the hobby) - Mine goes even further, to no romantic relationships at all while I'm a provider...if she identifies and stays true to her limits, she will find it much easier to stay focused and happy.  I have found that I truly enjoy the variety without the obligation, but that has come over the course of a year and was, for me, just a matter of breaking bad habits...I was just used to THINKING that I wanted more, when truly, what we have and give is quite often enough.

"She should make 100% bottom line, because she IS the bottom line".

Amen.

This is one of those occupations where you really don't know if you like it until you try it. Starting with an agency to get her feet wet isn't a bad idea. After a couple of months, if she truly likes this business, she can go independent and then put out the cash for the website, photos, advertising, etc.

Now, as for the emotional distance required, I think that's the easiest part of all. Unlike Hollywood movies, most women don't fall in love at first glance, or on a first date or hobby session.

It's very easy to have a session with a married man and know he's going home to his wife that night. You don't feel jealous or hurt, or judgmental about his fidelity. If a provider did feel this way, she would last about two days. (Again, she wouldn't know unless she tried it.)

Sure, we read stories on this board where a provider falls for someone unavailable and there's a lot of pain and anguish on both sides. This is pretty unusual, though.

So, since your friend is mature and has some basic information, I'd say tell her to go try it out and see what she thinks.

Since you don't provide a PM link, I wasn't able to thank you personally for your response, so I thought I'd post this reply and hope it finds you.  I passed your response on to my friend, along with the others.  She and I are very grateful for your taking the time to offer your insight.  I think my friend's going to pass, but no matter how it works out, thank you for your help.

I never fail to be impressed by the neat people who frequent this board.

Emotional distance is something that even after a number of years, I still struggle with.  I don't want to cut myself off emotionally, especially if the sex is really good. I know that leaves me open to heart-break, but anytime anyone gets involved through any variety of circumstances, heartbreak is a possibility.
I am looking for a wealthy, generous, sexy and adventurous man, and I find that my pool of clients is more likely to meet this criteria than the men I would run into any other way....so if I were to try to keep emotional distance in my work, and forbid myself to become involved with a client - and forbid myself to be involved in a romantic relationship elsewhere as long as I am a provider -  I would be giving up on the possibility of a relationship that would really fulfill me. However, I do agree that when I am not involved romantically with anyone, my work and my life are much less complicated.

Regarding your friend, I'd let her read everything everyone is posting and make her own choices.  I could say, go try it out, you can always quit if you don't like it, but it's not that simple.  Once you see something, you cannot forget it; Once you learn something, you will always know it.
That's life!  I'd rather take my chances learning things I wish I did not know than be an ostrich with my head in the sand.

I would tell her what you know about the industry and let her make her own decision.  What alot of women in Europe do is post on a board and then meet a couple of gentlemen at a pub (one at a time).  Then maybe move on to an appt with one, then another, then another.  This let's the gal take things at her own pace one step at a time to see if she likes it and allows the guys to meet her without more than the cost of a couple of beers at stake.  Usually works well for everyone.
