I wish they would stay fucking still as they did under the old interface - kept their place in the order based on the time of submission of the OP

That and a tree view of each entire page of each board would go a long way to fix at least the appearance of this dogs breakfast TER has given us....

Then for a limited time....view the boards and don't be frustrated.

Then...when they switch over...just stop participating in the boards. If only we could get everyone to do that....and the post counts go in the shitter...then they'd get the hint.

Too many chronics around here though. Would never get that to happen. Some of these people need the boards like air.

and that is that since the boards are not a profit center for TER, but in fact are a maintenance headache. they don't give a shit of they are easier to use or not.  Look at the crap they're putting their own mods thorugh with this interface....

And of course the board addicts will keep posting the same shit over and over and over again til the lights go out forever.....

Not getting this complaint at all.  This is how *most* Forums work online.

Also... this style also helps lower the amount of "duplicate threads" as well as making it easier to follow an on-going debate/conversation between multiple parties.  In other words, topics that are most commenting on/replied on are pushed to the top.  WHy is this so hard to understand?

You guys actually prefer to hunt and peck through MULTIPLE pages to continue on conversations/debates that you've had on topics on this forum?

I totally agree with you.  A LOT of forum use this messaging bumping (ie. adultdvdtalk.com and jerkoffzone.com) without complaints.  Makes on-going debates easier to view since you don't have to go through mutliple pages.

I prefer it.  Give it time and I think you'll agree

The only thing that bumping a post to the top after a reply does is turn train wrecks (which we are very good at creating) into cataclysmic train wrecks. Meanwhile, any dumb SOB unfortunate enough to try to create a new post while a few train wrecks are in progress gets shuffled halfway down the page 5 seconds after his post is written.

Pecking through multiple pages to continue a discussion? Give me a break. This board isn't quite that active. It usually takes a good 3-4 days for most posts to get bumped off the first page, usually long after any meaningful discussion has long since concluded on its own.

*MOST* discussion boards suck wind through a straw, precisely because they employ the same format that TER just adopted. This is one of the only forums I participate on anymore precisely because it DOESN'T follow that format.

The comment that concerns me here is what you so eloquently quoted as “yew want fries wit dat?" Stop and think for a moment what you just said. It would not be any less racist than if I were to quote in broken my poor Spanish "Desea fríe con eso".  We all have to keep working to improve issues with racism in this county.

Comments made even by accident, which form an opinion or connote that only black people are at low paying jobs taking orders at McDonald's or for that matter Wendy's and Burger King etc. Today, Ebonics as part of discussion forum posts is improper.

Regarding belonging on the P & R board that is pretty hard to do once a thread has become active with lots of posts. After all, the only way it can be moved is by moving the OP, which in this care would be unfair.

I could also, as perhaps you are suggesting, copy the link and start a whole new thread on the P & R board. Personally that is not my style and would never consider that. Mainly because the drama on the P & R board is way more than I want to digest.

So you and I have hijacked this thread unfortunately. So I will leave it as we can certainly disagree and also respect each others opinions and view on subjects. Thanks

Again....  you seem to perpetuate this (as well as others) already.  How would making the topic move to the top make that much of a difference?  Sorry, I'd rather have one thread of a debate rather than 10.

That's not my experience.  I don't come here every 5 minutes, so for me jumping around trying to keep up w/ board debate/conversation in the old way was HUGELY annoying.  Sorry, again I highly disagree.

I'd rather have all of the most commented topics at the top.  Why?  Because it makes sense, because this is where most people are talking, and hence this prevents duplicate threads from appearing.  Again, agree to disagree.

Simple solution would be subscriptions - as most boards also have - when you post you can choose to subscribe to the thread through email or through pm  - then a link to the thread gets sent to you every time a comment is made. Going through pages to find a thread you are interested in or posted on is time consuming. A simple subscription option would make it much better.

Thank you but NO. My mail is already full of useless crap I instantly delete without readin. This solution would just make a bad format even worse. God help us, I hope the folks at TER don't read your reply. They'll jump on it.

How about just leave the g/damned post where it started, so I can go right back to where I know it was. Most threads resolve themselves naturally in a day or two anways. Further discussion just becomes a rehash of points already made.

This thread though, is a perfect example of why this disucssion format blows chunks. Here we are 4 days after the original thread was posted and its back ot the top again. Everything that needs to be said has pretty well been said, but there it is, like a booger you can't flick off your finger, just taking up space and burying newer threads. On the classic view, this thread is over nd done with, and that's how it should be for most threads.
