To what extent should a hobbyist be informed of change in appearance?

Had a visit today with a what I expected to be a beautiful little spinner with long (mid back) blondish/brown hair. What greeted me at the door was greeted me was a young spinner with a bleach blond spike butch cut. Shaved up the back of the head, almost like a military buzz cut. Then the top was a 6 inch flat top, again all totally bleached white. Certainly a huge difference from all photos I had seen. The little school girl spinner had morphed into a punk rocker it seemed.

Had I seen current photos I would NOT of scheduled this appointment. Now there are lots of fish in the sea so picking one that fits what you are looking for is easy enough, assuming you live in a well populated area.

Hairstyle may seem superficial to some, but for me it makes a huge difference. I debated bailing on the session but stayed, and had a less than great experience. Would I be wrong to bail for such a reason? Woman am I wrong to assume that is something that should be shared, since it was a huge change, not just a slightly different color, an inch or two trimmed off? Last part under photos accurate should that be a NO? It was the girl, body exactly like photos but such a drastic change in hair style changes the appearance of your face.

I agree with you that a difference in your expectations of a ladies' hair-style with what you actually encounter can impact your chemistry with a provider.

The first provider I met in the hobby evidenced a significant difference in the session hair-style compared to her advertised hair-style.

It really changed my appreciation for her; I was expecting one thing and got another.

In a small talk exchange during the session, I learned that she liked to wear wigs in her advertised images to conceal her identity.

In any event, I recently upset a new provider when I inquired about her grooming and tattoos.  She did not feel a need to update her attributes every time she decided to make a change in her appearance (in this case shaved, trimmed or landing strip).

In essence, I feel that some cosmetic differences have to be expected/accepted as a hobbyist.

bull dyke, theh STAYS anf fucks it!  I would have first asked if I could speak to the lady of the house!  If she insisted it was her I would have just bolted!  No questions, NO $$$ no nothing!

A slight change in hairstyle is not a problem, had a lady who asked if I still wanted to see her because she was no longer blonde.  Same hairsyle, just a shade darker.  No Prob!

But to expect a feminine spinner and get a "he bull" is pretty drastic.  Beyond superficial.
But you stayed!  Hopefully you learned something from it.

After having short, somewhat straight hair for 6 years as a provider, I decided to let my natural curls flow freely, and grow it out.  Although my hair is not long yet, it totally changed my look.  Clients were starting to mention the change, which alerted me to the fact that what is published is what people usually expect to see when they walk in the door.  They didn't seem to mind the change in appearance, but they did notice it.

Knowing that, I felt the need to update my website and post some photos with the new "do" on the local boards.

I think people appreciate the update.  In fact, I have had numerous emails telling me so.  I guess I was right in thinking that the hairstyle change was significant enough to warrant the updates.

I suppose if I had gained 20 pounds and didn't really want everyone to know that was so, it would be another matter....but, significant changes in appearance, in my view, warrant an update.  People want to get what they think they're getting, and they notice the differences from an advertised look to what appears at the door.

My website does have some photos with the "old" look, as well as the new, curly version.  Take a look if you'd like...

I think if an appearance changes that drastically the provider should have to update pics. A change in hair length is one thing but if a provider shavers her head or something that might be a turn off to some that should be reported.

That would certainly be a very drastic change in hairstyle, and given how drastic the change was, I think you would have been perfectly within your rights to walk out.

It would be one thing if she had perhaps take a few inches off, going from mid back to shoulder length hair, or even if she had lightened/darkened her hair, permed it or straightened it, or some combination of the above. Those changes wouldn't quite fit the bill of a drastic change.

A haristyle as you describe is one tht would some would consider very appealing, while others would find very unatractive. We ladies can't take photos of ourselves every other day, and perhaps she had only just changed her hairstyle the day before. Even still, her choice of hairstyle is miles away from her pictures, so at least some sort of heads up would be appropriate until new photos can be taken to reflect her new look. At the very least she should have said something like "I just want to let you know that I cut my hair short" when she agreed to the appointment.

Hairstyle isn't superficial at all. Just ask any anthropologist. Long before women started using materials to color their faces, they were grooming their hair in braids, with beads, with all manner of materials for aesthetics. It is a woman's "crowning glory".

I appreciated the link (and invitation) to view your Internet site.

You are an amazingly beautiful woman!

Although I know you are located in the Minneapolis market, please consider a visit to Florida.

I believe you would enjoy (and do well) in a visit.

Note:  I also enjoyed the natural look.  A very rare treat nowadays!  Best Wishes!

I totally understand your issue.  Hair is a very important attribute with a paid date.  I love shoulder length hair. I even like a bit of hair down there.  If someone showed long hair and then ended up looking like a dike.  I would probably not go into the session.  Sometimes I ask prior if they have a strip or patch of hair on the vagina area.

Preferences is what is paid for.  So, yes you should have been informed.

The profile page for each individual review should be available to view.  Right now, the profile page filled out by the first reviewer of that provider remains as long as the provider continues to be listed here on TER.  (Unless measures are taken to change it by the provider herself, which is not always easy, and TER is not always quick to change it.)

I mean, we have to fill out a new profile every time we right a review.  Why can't people view it when reading reviews?  That would ensure that the information on the profile page would be current for that particular review.

By the way, in the past I have written this on the "Suggestion and Policy" board.

Definitely you should have been told. I have grown my hair and cut it and ALWAYS mentioned the change on my website. Hair length/color can matter to someone.

..."Sorry, but I can't feel sorry for someone who walks in, sees some bull dyke"...

I doubt if her hair cut suddenly turned her into ..what was it you called her...a bull dyke.

Granted, a hair cut can and does change the appearance, but to go so far as to say it changed her sexual preference..a little overboard don't you think?

I do get your point though and do agree on the principle, but upncummin, why the outright misnomer (bull dyke)? Maybe it's just the way you get you point across.

but there will never be any agreement on where it is exactly.

The case at hand would seem to have bounded over that line by a hop or two at least, so I would have no qualms about you tossing her a few twenties and saying later.

I, myself would have stayed as the physical side is subordinant to the performance and personality, but I know that many guys put very high store in the physical which is their right, especially in a business like this.

Question:  Was your experience ruined by the hairdo, or was her perfomance really lacking, or some combination of both?

When she opened the door she was a brunette.
That was almost 3 years ago. I'm glad I didn't bolt. BTW, she stayed brunette only  a short period of time.

I don't book a lady for her hairdo, but rather for my perception of who she is in terms of personality, character and stuff. If she shows up and her hair is radically different, she's still the same person -- no biggie.

HOWEVER, because my analysis of correlations to pricing indicates that pricing tracks appearance more closely than performance; I think it is safe to say a substantial part of the market pays for appearance. That being the case, I think a provider DOES have an obligation to inform clients about substantive changes in appearance. Her failure to do so, IMO, negates any agreement to undertake a session.

known that a haircut alone does NOT turn one into a bull dyke.  However if you try that hard, and go that far to try to look like one, I thought it would be nice to compliment a job well done....Mission accomplished!

I would still bolt!

You take this stuff way too seriously, LB  :-(

Change of hair color or length, weight difference of 20#, cosmetic surgery, or photos over 6 mo. old all should require either new photos or a disclaimer in the ad.

There are a lot of insightful responses already given on this, but I had a little different perspective to add.  I, too, believe that the performance and the way the provider makes me feel when I am with her trumps her looks/appearance in most occasions.

Occasionally, however, I will book an appointment to satisfy a specific yearning at that time (i.e. a busty bleach blond co-ed, or a worldly, sophisticated brunette in her 30's).  I guess what I mean to say is that, from time to time, the fantasy that I am engaging in has a visual component to it.  If the visual is too divergent from the initial fantasy, I probably would be a little disappointed (even if I ended up having a great time).

I have also booked multiple hour dates that have included some public time.  I have been fortunate that I have not yet had a lady show up appearing drastically different from her description and pictures.

Typically, a hair style change (shorter cut, grown out, new highlights or a color change, bangs, etc.) is not that big a deal.  If the lady, however, shaves her head to a crew cut/flat top and bleaches it, she might want to rethink her marketing to better target the hobbyists who might be looking for that.

I recently had more than 10 inches of my hair cut for Locks of Love charity.  But because I did not want guys saying what you are saying...I did make arrangements to have a photographer come over RIGHT AFTER my haircut appointment.  But then I had to wait until he gave me the photos, so as to post them.  I did relate to him I needed them ASAP. But I was able within a day get my new photos up.

But not all women are on "top" of their business as I was.  It's summer time.... a lot of women tend to cut their hair this time of year as to be cooler.  Now as far as color goes....they sell it in the stores and kids change their color all the time.

Bottom line is she should have said something to you about this hair change when you made the appointment as I do with my clients.  But again not all women are "smart" when it comes to their business.

You admited she was YOUNG so why are you surprised that
1.  she changed her hair color
2.  she cut her hair
3.  that she didn't tell you of the change
4.  didn't have new pics taken

Realize not all ladies operate their business the same.  There are rip offs, bait & switches, etc so still yet another example that we all do NOT operate the same.

If you didn't like what you saw when you entered, you have asked her about her hair and if you didn't like it then you should have left!!!

Again remember.... you said it already.....

she was YOUNG.

and I am NOT a bull dyke or a he bull.

They need 10 inches to be able to make a hairpiece for a child who has cancer so we had to cut my hair short.  But my hair will grow back .... theirs will not.

You obviously have the little head speaking and thinking for you.  May I suggest you use the one that has two eyes, two ears, and has a brain.

To answer the question mrfisher,

The experience was not ruined, but definitely threw me for a loop when I walked in.  I was not expecting to see a mini Brigitte Nielsen (ala Rocky IV), that was what was going on in my head, not the picture of the tiny spinner. My response actually surprised me. Her performance was not impacted by the hair. It was just a shock to me, and being a newb, I thought I would throw it out and see if I was right to expect to be warned.

...who has a great website with wonderful pictures of her.  I selected her based on my TER search results and the quality of the reviews written about her.  I had a fantastic time with her--at the end of the appointment she relaxed and had an extra glass of wine with me before leaving.  She told me that she was planning to get her pictures updated on the site.  she had recently quit smoking and had gained a few pounds as a result--healthy with some curves, not overweight, just not a hard body anymore.  She told me that she had recently received an email from a potential client that was eager to see her because she had great abs (something he picked up on from the pictures on the site)!  This was prompting her to update all of her marketing so that her reputation would not be affected by some disappointed client looking for 5% body fat.  She felt that it was in HER best interest, business-wise, to be clear about her appearance.

OK if she looked like a mini Brigitte Nielsen, I'd have done her..that woman in her prime was one smoking hot babe...all 6 foot plus of her.

I am not there for the hair color/style... for the most part.

For me, it's the extra age/pounds which make a bigger difference. I do not mind older or ever slightly rubenesque... However, I do believe in truth in advertising. Some of this can be forgiven if it isn't too much of a stretch.

that are not a close representation of her current look is lazy and unfair at best, and at its worse is msleading and misrepresentation. That's the way I see it anyway.
If you want $200 to $400 an hour, your pictures better fuckin' well be accurate.
If she doesn't look like her pics, just say "you don't look like your pics" and see what she says. If you decide not to stay, don't.  And tell her why, IF YOU DECIDE TO STAY, then try to enjoy it, and forget about the difference in looks.
On a related note...
The way I see it, the WK hobbyist who give the woman a partial fee then leave are fucking it up for everybody. They are placating their own inflated sense of chivalry, and MORE IMPORTANTLY contributing to the continuation of this crappy situation. Just like givin' beer money to an alcoholic.
