The nervousness at getting caught or running off the road heightened the experience. Driving over the Vincent Thomas bridge in Long Beach in the middle of the night, with the view of the city lights and less chance of running off the road was, I was told, awesome! I had fun too. Long ago in a faraway land, I got some road-head (thanks for the term Ciara) driving from LA to Las Vegas.  Of course, it was in the busiest spot on the trip.  I never go through Barstow without thinking of the experience...which is good, because so few people have fond memories of that place...
