And in addition to Happy Father's Day have the consolation of knowing that 80% of the women who live separated from their children's fathers have a lower standard of living than the fathers do...and that nearly two thirds of the women in America who are owed child support don't get a nickel..

and 75% of the fathers in American that complain of the visitation they get with their children only do so after being prosecuted for being scofflaws...

and it looks like my divorce situation:

1.  The assumption is that both mom and dad are adequate parents.
2.  The kids spend 1/2 time with mom, 1/2 time with dad.
3.  There is no child support in either direction.
4.  At the end of each month, each parent totals up the $$ spent on behalf of the children, and each parent pays proportional to their gross income.
5.  The kids live in an environment consistent with their father's lifestyle when with dad, and with their mother's lifestyle when with mom.   The lifestyle's are usually defined by the education / skills they bring to market. In my case, these skills were well defined prior to marriage, and not negatively impacted by the marriage.

And ... it's immensely fair.

One other note:  if the above occurs and you don't pay you're fair share of expenses:  shame on you, and you deserve what comes to you.

Off soapbox.

I'll just say Happy Father's Day for those of you that are, and the ones that aren't, I hope your Fathers are happy and healthy.

For the cynics out there, remember, "Wherever you go . . . there you are!"

Lovely sentiment, HPG. But then, that's you..
Happy Father's Day to you.

Much love,

A student went to his meditation teacher and said, "My meditation is horrible! I feel so distracted, or my legs ache, or I'm constantly falling asleep. It's just horrible!"

"It will pass," the teacher said matter-of-factly.

A week later, the student came back to his teacher. "My meditation is wonderful! I feel so aware, so peaceful, so alive! It's just wonderful!'

"It will pass," the teacher replied matter-of-factly.

and not all kids tied to their dads by alimony.  I am truly thankful for my children who always manage to surprise and delight me in most unexpected ways and at most unanticipated times!
