that his maid found him and there were sleeping pills around him. His family said he was battling with pnuemonia and thought he was getting over it. It's entirely possible it was accidental.

He had money, stardom and probably most any gal he wanted.  He did Naomi Watts and Heather Graham, among others.

He had a Manhattan apartment - probably not a walk-in closet that most New Yorkers call an apartment.  

He got to have butt sex with Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain and have the intelligentsia proclaim it it a work of art.  If any of us had sex with a another dude in a tent, we would get throw outta the campground and lose all KOA privileges for like a year.

His housekeeper and his masseuse found him dead, according to the report I read.  HOUSEKEEPER AND MASSEUSE!!! How many of us have a housekeeper and a masseuse?  His private chef and manicurist were apparently on sabbatical.

Lots of people committed suicide today for better reasons.  Don't moan this Joker!!!!

Not to piss in your wheaties but....It was not his apt or his housekeeper or his masseause. It was the apt of mary kate olsen or whatever her name is. It was her housekeeper and the 'masseause' was ordered in.

It was NOT The Olsen's apartment, that was corrected recently in the news.

I can't believe how heartless some people can be. Money doesn't buy happiness, and playing The Joker and another recent role he was working on an actor must go to deep dark places in their heads. Places many of us dare not venture.

He leaves behind a young daughter, and a piece of work that was only beginning to blossom.

Show a little sliver of respect.

May he RIP.

His family has stated he had pneumonia, and he had been working nearly 22 hours a day ... that's rough on anyone regardless of their bank account.

Having a background in theatre I can only imagine the strain and stresses he was under, let alone the places in one's mind you must go to in order to pull off the roles he's done.

He had mentioned in a recent interview that his prep for the joker role had left him with a case of insomnia for which he was taking ambien.....if he did have pnumonia and was taking ambien an accidental overdose would be easy....how sad and chilling will it be to see his version of the joker (which I have been told by old friends at Warners is nothing less than brilliant) and think that the role might have contributed to his death

This is really sad..although as some are probably learning he was not surrounded by sleeping pills as was previously leaked. That there were prescription pills in his apartment and one of them were sleeping pills. No one has learned how he died but his family says that he was not the type of person to take his own life. Either way its a very sad day as he was a brilliant, and sexy actor. I send a prayer to him and his family.

28...Good God!  When I was that age almost twenty years ago, I was promoted..nice raise, social life active, worked out 4+ times/wk.  Most professional atheletes peak at that age...this dude was a star, but had GF problems that caused him problems in his personal life.  This is the worst possble age to die... :( ...

I doubt it was intentional.
He did an interview about his super busy schedule and insomnia and how his Dr. prescribed Ambien

Its possible, although really difficult, to accicdentaly overdose on sleeping pills

But I bet he just had some undiagnosed rare medical condition and maybe the Ambien was a bad choice.

Even sleep apnea can be fatal if a person is deeply asleep enough

But him and not Britney or Amy? Thats amazing

Im sure one or both wont live til summer
