Tips/tricks?

Not in the sense of the life, but in the sense of electronic games

In my extended family, a long affair has surfaced and it looks like a long marriage has ended.  I used to be indignant and vindictive about these "betrayals" and side loudly with the "agrieved" party.

Time, experience and exposure to this board have mellowed me on this topic- damatically.  I am now more likely to think- well I am sure there were reasons to support both sides....

As well as a feeling that I am no longer in a position to cast apsersions when I am indulging myself in the occiasional (a mere memory now...) illicit orgasm.

So how to act, when I am in family chats?  I fear if I am too honest, my new found mellow attitude might get people thinking and possibly suspicious- yet I am not ready to be the hater I used to be.

You can very well say it is my own damn fault for being prig in the past-  but then isn;t developing wisdom what maturing is all about?

Any others on the horns of this dilemma/

It's kind of funny you mention this... I'm generally known as quite conservative among my circles, but when (at work) the conversation turned to "providers", one guy was really saying some quite derogatory remarks about the type of people "they" are; I think people were quite surprised when I quickly jumped to the defense of the profession and chastised him for judging others without actually ever meeting one.  I'll say that raised a few eyebrows at me, but I'm too old to really care what others think of me...

As you've gotten older you have learned

1) that these situations are almost always more complex than they seem on the surface,

2) there really are two (and sometimes more) sides to the story,

3) the people telling the story are not exactly the most objective observers.

What's wrong with saying your attitude has matured as you have?  Most photographs we "call" black and white really have many shades of grey in them.

A difficuly situation to comment on due to the inability of knowing the others involved. The truly wise know when to be silent along with appearing to be ignorant of things happening around them. Sometimes the truth is not so simple as some think and being mellow can draw attention to one known for strong viewpoints and opinions in such matters. Maybe logic and compassion will suit the situation and if deemed necessary for the sake of keeping suspicion from yourself a glimpse into the past of your temper and tendencies of being "prigish" would satisfy the needs of any doubting individuals. Just my .02 cents worth, I'm sure you will handle this in the correct manner. Best of luck.
