This can happen anywhere and is worthy of discussion here.
A TBD poster reports that LE in the Maryland suburbs outside of DC telephoned him with lots of questions. The inquiry made it obvious that his number and personal information came from a provider being investigated.

Her computer or little black book may have been seized.
If LE called me like that I would ask THEM a lot of questions, but probably get no answers. It is best simply to say you have no idea what they are talking about and will not say a word without legal counsel. Hang up quickly and call your lawyer in case LE decides to visit you, based upon your address that the provider has, or a reverse directory. Go stay somewhere else for a few days if you can. If you gave up your work # and address to the provider, learn the lesson and never do so again.
LE may visit you at work with that info. They love to hassle hobbyists.
We've been debating this forever, and this is the bottom line of what can occur, and it happens to be in the same county as Ms Sexy Curves, although I am sure she is not the provider in question, assuming she destroys all personal info promptly.
Most providers keep too much info too long, and this is a zero tolerance situation for a hobbyist.
LE with a tel # can get an address quickly and pick up this guy on suspicion, conspiracy, whatever. That arrest alone can destroy his career and marriage, or ruin his relationship with his RealDoll.com. NLOL
A prepaid cell phone now can be used with any phony address.
Get one for hobbying. Get a different area code from your home if you can. Verizon offered me 202-301-or 703 without asking where I actually dwell. Use a pseudonym, first name only.
DO NOT GIVE A PROVIDER ANY INFO THAT LE COULD USE TO FIND YOU!
Look what happens when you do!! Duh.
"When will we ever learn ....?"

Scenario:  LE interviews with an agency and gets a job.  She goes out on a call and busts a guy in his own home.  She continues to bust guys and then busts the agency owner and seizes all of his records.  I do not know at this point if there are male LE involved or if there is more than one agency targeted.  I believe that LE is still stinging people.  I've also heard that LE may be contacting people "in the books," clients and providers alike. Do you suppose that LE or the media will make public the names of escorts or clients?

This is currently occurring in Buncombe County, North Carolina which is where the city of Asheville is.  Scarily enough, it seems that the South Carolina LE are also involved (could this mean FBI?).

I sent an email to TER asking them to please let people know to be careful, as I had no desire to draw attention to myself.  They don't seem to have made any effort in this regard, and have not emailed me back.

Schlong--this is what I wanted to talk to you about, but I understand your hesitancy in emailing me.  I think I would have been equally cautious.

Oy vay.
Love to all,
Anne

Sometimes LE can do some really creepy stuff.   Montgomery County in Maryland tops the list for double standards.  It seems that LE there, including some judges think they are above the law.

If memory serves me right -- almost 6 odd years ago, there was a huge scandal involving a Judge (Monahan - not sure if I spelt the name correctly) who had a hooker give him head in his private chambers (Rockville Courthouse). The irony was that the same judge was presiding over the case filed against the same hooker for solicitation.

It was headline news.  The Judge refused to step down, and the media was all over the scandal.  After what seemed like ages, the Judiciary committed forced Judge Monahan to resign.

Being born/raised overseas, I find it difficult to phantom why there is so much legislation in the US on issues of morality.

Almost, all western civilized nations don't consider adult enterainment taboo. Take for instance, France, Denmark, ... to name a few.

In the US, this could be a great way to increase the taxbase for the government, through regular medical checkups limit the spread of STDs, use LE for more productive things, and give providers and hobbyist piece of mind.   Amsterdam is a great example ;-).

Perhaps its time to lobby ...

Would it possible for TER, and some of the other review sites to put pressure on Cityvibe, Eros, Exotics, Lovings to do the following:

i.    Authenticate the pictures of the providers

ii.   Set stipulations for posting -- pictures a must (one facial, and one X-rate mandatory)

iii.  Verification that provider's SSN is correct.  Ask for business verification of some sort -- license number, etc. Thus, establishing whether or not provider is LE or an LE associate

iv.   Aggressive prosecution for misrepresentation.  Or at a minimum, making it clear in the agreement that if the advertiser misrepresent themselves  Lovings, etc. reserve the right to inform their patrons accordingly (perhaps adding a commentary below the ad)

The other lobbying effort would be to compel Congress to legalize adult entertainment (bar none).   After all, they are the BIGGEST offenders.    Who often do we hear about members of the White House indulging in questionable sexual acts  -- having ex-marital affairs, getting a BBBJ in the Oval office, etc.

I know this maybe wishful thinking ... Troy would never have been captured, had it NOT been for imagination!

I have always been..."miffed"... at your efforts to convince both providers and hobbyists to all but eliminate "screening" and "references". My main concern was safety issues for the providers...when the gentlemen have something to lose (i.e: the provider knows who he really is and where he works) he's more likely to behave himself. :0)

Someone I know (I'll call her Jill) had some business cards made (mistake number one) and had given one to another provider. The other provider got busted and they found Jill's business card in the other providers purse (mistake number tow). They (LE) came after Jill with a vengance. They had her under surveliance and everything. It was HORRIBLE. Nothing ever came of it, but it sure put a fright in Jill.

And to hear that LE is going so far as to GET A JOB AT AN AGENCY to bust the "johns"..."WTF"!!!!! WILL THEY STOP AT NOTHING?

Whats the answer? Hey, I cant think of everything. The only thing that is even remotely safe is "references", and LE will figure a way around that soon enough too. :0( I think I have an answer, but I for damn sure wont post it here! lol! :0)

Blame the "Christian Coalition" and their trained mignions for the "Moral" Laws in this country. "Religion"...HA! Priests molesting kids, pastors having affairs with the office secretary..."I Have Sinned", Jim Jones killing all those people with poison Kool aid, Jim Baker stealing millions and "doing" that ugly girl (I cant remember her name) and "GOD" knows what else. There is nothing "Christian" about any of the scandals in the past 10 to 20 years or so. EVIL...all in the name of "Christianity". How dare they pass judgement on ME?

Sable

Between TheLostSchlong and SweetSable we have the perfect balance of thinking on the screening and playing it safe issue.

Sable,
You left out one significant act in the name of religion. The murder of 5000+ people in the World Trade Center.

Not the American Christian Right, I realize, but it is a powerful example, along with the ones you've mentioned of the misguidings of religion.

What particularly steams me is that the current LE activity has nothing to do with morality, law or the mandate of a democratic majority, but only politics.
