Hopefully your ATF is as considerate of your issues as you are of hers. You seem genuiine, so I feel that just the card to convey your regrets is adequate. I do not feel that monetary compensation is necessary as your dilemma due to weather was legitimate. The airline doesn't pay you if your flight is delayed or cancelled. Need some opinions here: I live in a smaller town and drive two hours every couple of months to see my ATF. Living in the Northeast, winter weather can be a problem. Yesterday, on my way to see said ATF, heavy snow brought traffic on the Interstate to a near standstill. I wasn't going to make the appointment, called the provider, and told her I was going to have to cancel. This was about 90 minutes before the start of the appointment. And I'm not talking about a little snow, but whiteout conditions, can't see the road or further than the hood of the SUV. It took a couple of hours to get clear while moving 5-10 mph. even So, I wanted to send my ATF a gift card to compensate for part of the lost fee. This was a two hour incall for $600, and she was on her regular tour of the 'burbs around her home city. Any thoughts on an amount I might consider sending?
Considering the circumstances (you're a regular, she's on tour, the weather, etc) she shouldn't EXPECT anything. That said, my first question is always if she set up things just for you, but you make it sound like your appointment will be (pardon the characterization) one of several during her tour. This loss is part of doing business.
That said, as a minimum, I would send enough to make sure you covered her expenses (hotel, some travel incidentals, meal, etc.) and maybe some extra. You might book a dinner date for the next time as an alternative, but cash is always good. I probably wouldn't do more than half of your session fee.
It would be different if she had incurred extra effort and expense to come for you.
Considering the circumstances, I think anything you do for her would be above and beyond the call of duty. The weather was an act of God. No one can reasonably expect you to kill yourself to keep an appointment. Cancellations due to circumstances beyond anyone's control are part of the cost of doing business.
Still, it speaks well of you that you want to make it up to her. If I were in your place, and I could afford it, I would give her her full fee. Other than that, I dunno, I can't recommend any amounts. Just put a few extra dollars in the envelope or get her a special gift next time, knowing (as I sure she will) that you don't have to do either.

I think it would be very sweet of you to send her some sort of gift if you choose to. I suspect though, that she knows the drill when it comes to dealing with Mother Nature. When I see the snow flying, I pretty much know taht chances are excellent any appointments I had planned that day won't be happening. I certainly don't like driving through the snow, and I don't expect my gentlemen friends to either. So I'm pretty sure your lady friend understood.
