But providers will complain about such things to a subset of hobbyists.

Obviously, such things are done in complete confidence and so you would hopefully never hear a hobbyist say: "Tonya TahTahs was just telling me ..." any more than you would hear a provider say: "Johngaltnh was just telling me ..."

But the OP didn't just invent the phenomenon. He is phrasing it generally and using an alias for the specific purpose of protecting the confidentiality of the provider(s) involved.

Either way -- my real point here, not to get bogged down in details -- is that the OP was trying to be helpful and was NOT trying to attack provider's rates.

Believe it or not; just as not all hobbyists are sexperts; not all providers are economic experts. He was just trying to be helpful.

My point was simply that he shouldn't be excoriated for that.

Why don't some/all traveling ladies research their venue markets better so as to be able to compete with the *local* talent. So many of them don't adjust their rates to reflect current geographical market rates. WHY? And they end up having limited/no interest within that region.

They wonder why there is no interest, sheesh.

Stupid is as stupid does.

You're basically telling them NOT to come to your town.

Though, you posted under an alias, the ladies won't have the priviledge of meeting or commenting to your one-sided fucked-up self.

Yes, I'm being a smart-ass.

I have that luxury being single and can drink when I'm off the clock, so to speak. ;)

Cheers, mother-fucker! ;)

Why do you care if a traveling lady doesn't research to your satisfaction?

If you think the rates are unreasonable, don't contact her?

If they are unreasonable she won't get business.  End of story.

No reason to hide behind an alias either.

you should stick to your "local talent". I can undrstand why you used an alias, cuz calling the ladies "stupid" ain't gonna get you laid.

I wouldn't go that far.  I imagine most women here would rather be with a guy who pays $300. an hour and calls them "stupid" than a guy who only wants to pay $100 an hour and calls them "the most intelligent beautiful woman I ever knew"

Traveling can be expensive.

Hotels in big cities where your likely to get more business are usually going to be more expensive than in your home town, depending on where you live.  Maybe your income is not up the cost of living of the area.  I have no idea but there a lot of factors to consider.

We do have expenses and overhead depending on the location.

I had to laugh at this one...yes indeed, call me whatever you like behind my back as long as you happily pay my fee

If you don't like our rates....don't bother us.

Oh "no interest"? There is plenty of interest....maybe no one is interested in you.  Damn you're arrogant.

Ummm Khori! You and I will have soooo much fun! ;)

We'll cuss each other out right into each other's arms...and.....well......you know...

I'll "tude" you MP!  I give what I get..BETTER!  HAHAHAHA!

Like why do you even care?

Are you getting yours?

Are they getting theres?

In the grand scheme of Economics 101 of the provider only who cares?

Like, why do you even care. I don't. It doesn't effect me in the least.

A lady can put whatever price she wants on her time and we are free to respond or not.  Her bank balance is her problem, not mine.  Travelers or not, I have seen ads for ladies whose rates were, in my opinion, excessive.  As we say online, NEXT!  I've also passed on rates that were too low (if its 'too good to be true, its cause it isn't true!).

Personally, I doubt I would use a traveler but thats because in Vegas there are so many local ladies available who might be more hospitable as I might repeat sometime.  Whereas a traveler isn't all that interested in developing return customers.

and can command higher rates based on their appearance vis a vis the typical locals. Performance is often up to par but sometimes not -  as with all purchases, caveat emptor. Read the reviews!

in my area (DC) there is a shortage of really good looking talent (in my view, yes, I know, to each his own...) with a high degree of professionalism and experience.

$500-600/hr is no problem at all for me if the appearance and performance justify the donation.

And if you've been around any, you realize that these donation levels are not out of line with the few civilized areas of the US.

If you're in podunk and accustomed to dropping 200-250 and hr, I can understand that quality talent may be out of your reach....

"in my area (DC) there is a shortage of really good looking talent"

I looked at the websites of 3 DC agencies and I was floored with how hot these chicks were.  All at less than $400/hr!

If the pictures are accurate, I would have to say that you really have it good in DC.

several local agencies shop the pics so hard that they are totally unrecognizable.

The rest just shop out the muffin tops and the ink.

But you're right - the local agencies have much better talent than the local indies for the most part.

We are loaded down with MI(would not)LFs and B(too big to "B")BWs lol

if you worked for a company in an area where the pay was good, and your boss sent you to another area, where the economy was not the same as where you are permanently located,  for business you would of course request that your boss only pay you what the average local worker gets in the area you are traveling to...right?

Of course whenever I ever see a post by a client bitching about any ladies' rates  I always figure it's because he wants to see her, but his broke ass can't afford her.  So he has to post his little bitch fit on the boards to try and shame the ladies into lowering their rates so he can save up to get his dick wet.

These are the same guys with the "do me whore" attitude that bitch about screening, and driving to see a lady, and ladies that don't work when is convenient for them, etc.

They are the guys that want the ladies to be a "sure thing" but if the lady charges more than he can afford then he puts her in the same category he puts those "uppity bitches" in the bar that won't blow him in an alley after he bought her $2 well drink and said he wanted to fuck her...bitch must be a fuckin' dyke....

So I read the OP's post as basically saying:
"There is this bitch I wanna fuck that came to my town on tour...
But my broke ass can't afford her...
so she's stupid!!!!
...and I'ma make a post telling her so...
but with an alias just cause I am not just a whiny bitch I am also. a fuckin' coward.
...but my post will show her,and she'll be so ashamed she will lower her rates for me."

As for the ladies not lowering their rates so that you personally can afford them...
that doesn't make them stupid, that makes them astute business women that don't don't want your cheap broke ass acting like a bitch ass Neanderthal at her incall.

I live in a city with a cost of living index well below the national average and correspondingly low incomes.

What has surprised me, after perusing the ads frequently over recent years, is that so many traveling providers come here for weeks at a stretch even when there's no major convention or such happening.  It appears they're losing $ both in competition with locals & each other and in travel/lodging costs.

Here to take a break, perhaps?

It just occurred to me that maybe there's enough interstate business passing through to make a difference...

What the original poster is talking about is providers who tour and get insufficient bookings because they have failed to properly evaluate their value within that market or that market's provider carrying capacity.

If I were to hypothesize; I would guess what prompted the post is that he booked with such a provider; more than willing to pay her fee, only to have her cancel due to insufficient bookings.

He's not pissed because he couldn't afford her; but rather disappointed that he couldn't see her.

THIS, I believe, is the issue at hand: a hobbyist with plenty of money for what he booked, disappointed that he will now have to see someone else because a traveling lady failed to do her homework. And when providers fail to get sufficient bookings and thus have to cancel, they DO complain about it.

What he is saying is that providers who get insufficient bookings for their tours should stop complaining and instead re-examine their rates for that tour and match them more closely to the venue.

Average price in my venue (Boston) is $250-$300; yet most of the traveling ladies I see charge more than that. But, in THEIR case, it isn't a problem because they are so damned good they are a bargain even at a price above average for the specific market. MANY traveling (and some local) ladies easily command above-average prices because they have above-average attributes! (Attributes can include superior beauty, superior performance, superior intellect, accommodation outside the ordinary, being a porno star, etc.)

But what can go awry is a provider who usually charges $250 in a market comparable to Boston flying into Boston and expecting to charge $400-$500. It just isn't happening.

When she tries to do this; she is trying to sell at an above-market price for her attributes. This lessens her bookings. Ultimately, the trip is either a loss or barely breaks even. Maybe she doesn't even have enough advance bookings to justify the plane tickets and hotel; so she cancels the tour.

THIS, if I understand correctly, is what the original poster is saying.

And I think it is a reasonable point.

I believe some posters may have jumped the gun a bit in sort of knee-jerk assigning nefarious motives to the original poster.

Yes, as buyer and seller there is a sort of dynamic tension. But there is also symbiosis. We're all in this together.

The way I interpret the original post is actually intending to be HELPFUL to providers' total bottom line rather than hurtful to their rates.

You captured most of my intent.

If you eliminated your claim of my 'booking and having been cancelled on' you would have been ABSOLUTE.

If Johngaltnh captured the essence of what you said, then I would say it came across a lot clearer in his post.  Yours came across as an angry rant to a lot of folks who replied to your OP.

Just an observation.

I've seen providers announce that they decided against touring a city due to lack of interest, but I don't see how that comes across as a complaint. If you can give us a link to a provider bitching that she either cancelled a visit or was disappointed in the response because the guys in that city are too cheap to pay her rates, then I will be the first to concede that she is either economically illiterate or a prima donna. I'd like to see an example. I don't have access to the providers only board, lol.

But providers will complain about such things to a subset of hobbyists.

Is to post "sheesh" and call the people you are "helping" stupid.

I mean, who would disregard the advice of someone that calls them stupid?

As for your ability to glean the information you did from the original post I have to assume you are either psychic or you know the user behind the alias.

No where in the original post was there any mention or indication of him being cancelled on, instead he spoke to the obviousness of no one being interested in seeing the traveling ladies.

Not "no one except him", and he was therefore disappointed.

But since according to your reading and his agreeing with you, he is holding himself up as an advisor trying to help the ladies be more successful let's do some math.

If a lady in her home town gets $400 an hour for appointments and can get on average one client a day for five days she can, staying at home earn $2000 in five days.

If she then travels to another city for five days, she has to earn that same $2000 as well as money to cover travel expenses.

So, say she spends $400 on airfare, and stays in a hotel that is $100 a night, as well as eating out three times a day while on the road for say $50 a day for the five days that's now $1150 in extra expenses, not counting cab fares, internet fees or any other associated costs of traveling. so she would need see three more clients in that same 5 day period to just break even. (I am averaging low on the costs as well).

Now, a lady probably isn't going to want to go to the hassle of traveling to just break even so if she wants to earn a bit extra to make the travel worth it (minimally) she would see at least a couple more clients, so now have it 10 clients in a week instead of 5.  She now is working twice as much to make approximately $800 extra.

Now, if her regular rate is $400 an hour, but the going rate in the city she travels to is $250 and hour and she takes the original posters "helpful" advice and lowers her rates to be competitive, that would be $150 per client less that she earned.

So, if she saw 10 clients, instead of that earning her $4000 it would now bring in $2500...so, instead of coming out $800 ahead from the trip she would now be $700 behind.  to make up that $1500 difference in her regular rates vs her lowered rates, she would need to see another 6 clients at $250 and hour.

If she does that she is now seeing 16 clients instead of 5 at home, to earn a grand total of $800 more than she would had she not traveled.
Which would equal about two hours worth of her time at her regular rates.

So, she is supposed to do slightly more than three times the work to earn an extra $800 which would translate to two extra appointments at home, for spending four hours in airports, a couple hours traveling to and from airports, and maybe 6 hours or more on flights, as well as the inconveniences of traveling.

Yeah, I can see a lot of ladies jumping at the chance to work three times as much to not even cover their time and efforts to get to the location they travel to...that will go over really well.

Thank DoC they have Mr Bitch to look out for them, and offer his helpful advice in such a non-offensive way, I mean they otherwise would never be successful in this business.

I can see how his advice (well if calling someone stupid can actually be referred to as advice) was really just altruistic and trying to help the ladies...work a lot harder to make a little more is always sound business advice, and certainly benefits the ladies more than the client right?

Remember the scenario is a lady who usually charges X, but charges X+Y while on tour in a city where, compared to the local talent, she can usually get X.

Just due to sheer novelty, she can probably charge somewhat more than X, but maybe not X+Y without a significant loss of volume.

His complaint was the lady charging X+Y and thus not being able to make the tour due to lack of bookings.

Well, using your example, the lady shouldn't tour because in her case it isn't economically wise.

Some ladies (who usually charge high rates) tour because the population willing to pay high rates is distributed rather than concentrated. In that case, touring makes sense as they essentially have a nationwide fan club anyway. Even charging the same rates they get to meet new people and they come out ahead economically.

But if you normally charge $200 in Chicago; don't expect to be successful at charging $500 in NYC.

If charging $200 or $300 in NYC works you too hard and doesn't recoup enough to cover expenses; but charging $500 gets you only one booking and still doesn't cover expenses -- touring isn't economically wise. There are lots of ladies who don't tour for that reason despite great success in their region.

This would work differently if a lady who usually charged $250 in NH decided to charge $400 in NYC because of cost of living differences. In NYC she could command the $400.

It's important to know that not all providers can command identical rates consistently. As an extreme example, a 92 year old lady in a wheelchair might not command the same rates as a gymnast who models and has a PhD in astrophysics.

In interpreting the original post; it isn't that I'm psychic -- I just try to put myself in his shoes because *at first blush* I interpreted it similarly to you. But then I looked at it again and had some insight.

You know I admire your chutzpah and smarts!

but I am basing my math on the original post in the thread:

QUOTE:
"Why don't some/all traveling ladies research their venue markets better so as to be able to compete with the *local* talent. So many of them don't adjust their rates to reflect current geographical market rates. WHY? And they end up having limited/no interest within that region."

He is specifically saying ladies "don't adjust their rates" to be in line with the local talent.
Nothing in his post mentioned ladies that charge more on tour than they do in their home towns.
I took his comment of ladies not adjusting their rates to mean just that, that they charge the same in the tour location as they do in their home markets.

Had he said ladies shouldn't raise their rates on tour in such a way as to overcharge, I would have agreed with the sentiment (if not the way he worded it).

Oh, and don't rule out the fetish market for a 92 year old in a wheelchair...a guy with an immobile granny fetish would probably be willing to pay top dollar for that.  *grin*

Why in the world would a provider spend the $ (hotel/travel/food) to come to your city only to make LESS than what she could make at home?? Doesn't make any sense to me to leave home and have the extra expenses only to make less money.

I travel a lot and don't drop my rates. I will offer "specials" for extended dates if the market rate is much lower than what I'm used to at one of my home bases.

It just might be the price you pay to have a fresh face in your city. Guess it's up to you as to if it's worth it or not. In my experience, it's worth it to a lot of folks.

local ladies charge the same amount they will compete with others with similar rates...
