A fishy smell is NOT normal in a PH balanced vagina.  Bacteria can take over in an alkaline environment and cause an infection.  There are many causes for a vagina that is normally acidic to become alkaline.  She could have a reaction to condoms, sperm, scented douches, soaps, over washing, sprays, powders, flavored lubes, hormones, client fingering ass to vagina without washing hands, double penetration without changing condoms.

She has BV.  Bacterial Vaginitis.  I would tell her in a tasteful way (she is a human-being) She needs to stop providing until it's taken care of.  She can see a doctor for a anti-fungal and antibiotic.  Or if she is reading this; she can take matters in her own hands right now.

*Probiotic supplements everyday!!!! (will keep UTI's, BV, yeast away!!)
*Using a turkey baster or empty douche bottle mix half 3% hydrogen perixode with half water and lie down in a bath tub and empty in to vagina and hold it then release.  Smell will be gone first time because the bacteria cannot thrive in the oxygen.  It can safely be used on the inside as well as sitting in baths of hydrogen perixode, epsom salts, ACV.  Dry completely off and can use a blow dryer on cool air to dry.  Sleep naked.  Nothing tight, no thong panties except for dress up!

To me (no pun intended).   If it's not, then I would suggest you do what I do.  A co-ed shower is the standard opening with the agency girls I see.  When booking an independent girl, I tell them at the time of booking  that I will want a shower before we start and would like them to join me.  If the problem is a simple hygiene issue, this will usually solve it. If she smelled fishy, there was probably a medical problem, and you should have let her know nicely. The last time I went down on a woman, her crotch smelled a bit musky, like sweat, but the vagina was fine. Some additional facts about pH imbalance and BV.  

1.  With either a pH imbalance or Bacterial Vaginosis, hygiene has little to nothing to do with the "fishy" odor.  In fact, even if she were fresh out of the shower, once activities began the odor would return.  This is generally why many don't notice the problem until several minutes into the appointment.  

2.  The pH of the vagina is a sensitive and easily thrown off.   Semen, her diet (excessive sugar especially), a heavy menstrual cycle, douches, bubble baths, etc. can cause a pH imbalance.  

3.  There are several over-the-counter products that provide IMMEDIATE results for the imbalanced pH - one example is a product called RePhresh $18 at local pharmacy, Walgreens, Wal-Mart etc.

3.  The symptoms of a pH imbalance are very similar to those Bacterial Vaginosis - including the strong "fishy" smell.  For this reason, it is important that she see her doctor if the over-the-counter pH remedies do not resolve the issue or if the symptoms return right away.  Generally, if it is merely a pH problem, there shouldn't be discomfort, pain, abnormal discharge.  

4.  It is important to understand that neither a pH imbalance nor BV results from poor hygiene.  Therefore, there is no justification in shaming or assuming the provider needs to shower.
