a provider friend took a call on advice from another provider. She usually screens.  She didn't--opting to go with the other provider's recommendation.

The guy hurt her badly. Days in the hospital.

My first instinct is to find this guy and tune him up.

She's too embarassed to report it to the police.

Any advice for her or me?

The regular cops and vice don't work together. She shouldn't fear them. This guy should be in jail!

The police generally would be involved already in an assault and battery.

World of difference between a dude ripping off a lady and the lady choosing to remain quiet vs. a serious assault that required hospital care.  Seek out a female detective or female ADA if it makes her more comfortable but she has to realize that this guy probably did this before and will likley do it again until he is stopped.

I undertstand your desire to kick ass.  However more often than not such action either is  ineffective in the long run, or worse gets the revenger in a heap of legal woes, or worse of all results in a horrific outcome.

I'm saddened for your friend and I hope she recovers soon.  If you can, be her friend and try to give her the courage to report this terrible crime.

If she was victimized, she should go to the police.  They can't get her in trouble for something they have no evidence against.  She is the victim and not the enemy to them and they will assist her with her problems.  Secondly, if she doesn't report this she is being stupid by putting the rest of the girls at risk.  That is the bottom line.

I would not take matters into your own hands when you weren't there to see what happened.  She could've tried to steal his wallet for all you know.  What I'm saying is best not to go beat some guy up when your not even sure what the real deal is.  Could be walking into a trap.

For all you know, this guy is a kung fu loonie or has a gun or is on meth and crack and could not feel a kick in the nuts.  CALL THE COPS....  NOW.  Please...  Smokey the Don't Do it, al43....!

This, as noted unanimously, is a no-brainer. The PD doesn't care about your friend's line of work, they care about catching criminals. Enough said?

Although a lot of people are saying "just call the cops", it is not always that easy to do.  With lots of women it is more than "embarassment" to report it. The process can be very humiliating, take up a lot of your time, there is fear of retaliation from the assailant or his friends, and the worry of future harassment/fallout from cops.

However, it doesn't have to be that way.  If there is an outreach/networking/advocacy/discussion/anything group for sex workers in your area, suggest that she talk to some people there, or with other women who work.  They can hopefully provide her with contact info for police officers who are not going to judge and harass her and will help the process go through as smoothly as possible.  She does not have to go alone to speak with the police, have her bring a friend or advocacy group person with her.

Even if she never decides to go to the police, it is a good idea to go to a sexual assault (or regular assault) centre and find out if there is an additional exams she should have done (did the hospital know it was an assault/sexual assault?).  I know in Canada, this medical documentation is important if you eventually decide to charge someone and/or if she wants to try and get compensation for psychotherapy/physiotherapy as a result of the assault.  There is usually a time-window to have this done, like 10 days or something, but once it is done you have a year or two to decide if you want to go to the police.

The problem with responding to violence with violence is that it just puts you and her at a greater risk, unless you kill him.  Some part of me thinks killing him is a good idea but the legal consequences would be pretty devastating so it is not a good solution. There are police officers out there that are actually interested in helping women, including sex workers, you just have to find them.

are you living in the same world?
Hate to explain that the police are axactly not very good at finding harmful criminals. just the easy ones.
If I had a dollar for each vice cop who called my phone.
But with a simular incident. I now have a busted face. A police report and no way for detectives to contact a individual who gave a false name and changed the cell number.
Ask for more then one reference amd just chalk it up to the game.
Sometimes you win...and unfortunatly sometimes you lose.
The gamble we all take.
Keep your head up and try your best to be safe...

Just so we know who to watch out for so it doesn't happen to another one of us.  This is something that is really scary to providers but so prevelent these days.  It's going on in LA, OC and IE right now.  A guy is holding girls at gun point and rapeing them.  In London there is a serial killer murdering providers and now this.  The more info we get form the community the safer the rest of us are.  I hope her a fast recovery and that she is in my prayers.

that there is enough to go on to get him - reco by a friend...etc...

But on to my concern... Dudes ?  What gives?  While some (a few) providers have really made me mad - for the most part what they made me mad about was certainly not the sort of thing ya hit someone over... I think that the worse I have done is give a ho-ho review...  I do not get it.  I really do not.  Can anyone here explain it to me?

Once in a strip club a dancer accused me of putting a hickey on her - I didn't but she had gotten me to spend on the champagne room... then she pulled all sorts of clock running techniques to NOT dance for me... then when she does dance and I nuzzle her neck she jumps up and yells you are hurting me and you put a hickey on my neck... I told her that I did not - and that she should go check... she did - no hickey... I was 1) Hurt by this accusation and 2) shocked by the way it made me feel - and 3) alarmed that she seemed to be trying to set me up.... was she?  I don't know - all I know is that physical violence between two individuals is abhorrent to me...

This dude should go to prison - and become bubba's bitch.  No questions.... I think that would be the absolute best punishment - and probably the only thing he will "get"!

WRT the issue that he will do it again - that is a certainty - the real question is will he ramp up the activity to include murder?  PLEASE - stop him now.

WRT the dancer... I still go to that club - as this gal is the only one there who does this sort of thing....  she still trys to get me to have her do a dance or two - I won't... I am polite, but if she sits next to me, I tell her that I am waiting for someone - yea...   her name is Selma....  Salma Hayek yea, that's who I' m waitin for - Salma Hayek.... and who knows, maybe one day she will actually show up!

But this is one bizzarro dude who does not get the violence thing....

GRRRRR this pisses me off. Go the vigilante route -- what he did to her should be done to him, with interest.

forget about her embarrassment. She absolutely needs to report this incident.  If the last girl he whacked around reported him, he probably would never have smacked your friend around. As long as he gets away with it he'll never stop.
