Who are ... THEY? Today I have determined to “set my mind to seek and explore by wisdom concerning all that has been done under heaven” to determine … Who THEY are?
As a preface, I have not undertaken the writing of this article flippantly or with nonchalance because, THEY will know. In fact, the subject or subjects of this writing might be considered by many as unapproachable. Others might ask, “Why take on such an ominous task? Why even embark on this sojourn?” I can only respond that this trail has been set before me and I must see to what end it leads … or something like that.
Who are THEY?
It is probably easier to prove that THEY exist than to actually identify who THEY are. I can cite many of the characteristics THEY possess but couldn’t show you any one particular individual that THEY know or THEY actually communicate with directly. You have often heard people repeat the things THEY say, such as …
THEY say, “Exercise is good for you.”
THEY say, “You shouldn’t smoke.”
THEY say, “It is not good to go swimming right after you eat.”
THEY say, “It is not good to fool Mother Nature”. Or, was that a margarine commercial?
Anyway, as you know, this list goes on and on. Because, THEY are omniscient, THEY know everything. THEY know that I am writing this article. THEY know that you are one of two people who will read this and I am not certain THEY approve. THEY prefer to have their opinions expressed and revered rather than be the subject of question or discussion.
I believe … though I cannot be certain … yet, I am positive, I think maybe … that THEY are ubiquitous, i.e. omnipresent, i.e. universal, i.e. everywhere. Wait, should that be … i.e., i.e. or e.i., e.i … oh … hmmm.
Further, I believe that THEY have knowingly and with malice aforethought infiltrated the very fiber of our society. I believe that THEY have gained their influence, their dominance through the most unlikely of sources … our mothers. YES … YES, by duping our own mothers with their philosophy and then THEY used our mothers as unwitting puppets against us and THEY spouted tenets like …
THEY say, “This medicine is good for you”
THEY say, “Shots don’t really hurt much.”
THEY say, “Spinach will make you strong.”
THEY say, “If you cross your eyes they might get stuck.”
THEY say, “You should go to bed early and get plenty of sleep.”
THEY say, “Don’t pick your nose or your brain will fall out.”
As little children we obediently minded. Okay, sometimes we minded.
Yet, surely your eyes have been opened? The subterfuge THEY have perpetrated is so obvious? How long can THEY get away with this? What? Just a moment my wife is trying to tell me something. “What’s that? … Oh … Why?
“Well, uh okay.” My wife said I have to go now …
Why?
Because, THEY said so.
I think I know you!!! LOL It was one of those late summer nights, I slowly walked through the darkness through the corn husks enjoying the evenings breeze rushing through my hair, when I heard the whispered words... "If you build it, 'THEY' will come!" And I knew...I just KNEW I had to do it. So I did! :P:P:P

Its a weighty question that is tackled philosophically by Heidegger. Its a bit heady, but for a PhilosopherDad, no less King, this should be child's play.

Doctors smoke, drink to much, take drugs but tell you not to do it. So they are a they
Policemen tell you to behave, don't speed, shoot people or piss on bushes. But they do so they...well, you get the point.
I always find out that when I work backwards and find out who "they" is it's always someone who doesn't do what they recommend or command.
Or rarely. Exception:
"They" say don't cheat on your wife or you'll get caught and then divorced and you'll be broke.
That "they" is fucking right on!
