Never-mind the provider costs in this economy, is now a good time for divorce?

Dear penny pinching fellow hobbyists,

A lot has been said about the hobby values to be had in a poor economy, when it comes to our providers.  But are we looking to save money in the wrong place?  What about our overhead, our wives and girlfriends with lawyers?  Why cut back on the gals that do the things we want?  Why not cut out the gals that do nothing we want?

With home values at an all time low and stocks likewise, I'm wondering if this is the best time for divorce?  Divide up the crashed assets and debts.

Save $50 on an encounter or thousands on a bad commitment?  What am I missing here?  There's got to a flaw in my math.  I was a liberal arts major after all.

Any comments?

Just wait and see what it cost in lawyer fees alone. Are you really that un happy with your marriage? If so, then this post may be  just your way of telling you what to do.
Lust a thought.

So I recommend that you take whatever liquid assets you have left, cancel and cash out your life insurance, stop paying your mortgage on your over-financed house, and go on an all-out hobby-palooza until you run out of funds! Then overdose on psychedelic mushrooms rendering yourself a permanent ward-of-the-state... This will force your wife to file chapter 7, live in squaller in a one-room shit-apartment, and work two jobs to pay for your care for the rest of your life... BUT you will never have violated the covenant of marriage by filling for divorce... Then you can live out your years in a care-facility in comfort and peace...

If you're forced to cash out those assets in order to divide them, you may be finding a foolish economy.  The value of those assets is only diminished if you sell at this price.  If you can turn over your vast portfolio of stock in Sirius in certificate form, so be it.  But if they need to be cashed in to do so, you'll lose as much as she does.
