I would suggest other, less expensive countries to vacation in if you have a taste for asians. Japan and S Korea both are rather pricey by American standards. Thailand, The Phillipines,, Vietnam are a few countries that come to mind that are much better mongering destinations.

In this hemisphere, Costa Rica, Panama, and Brazil are just a few of the countries that come to mind. Prostitution is legal in all of them, you can get by, even without speaking Spanish, or in the case of Brazil, Portuguese, and they are a lot closer than Asia. Or even closer yet if you are from NY or the area, Canada has some fantastic women as well.

I have traveled and enjoyed quite a few English providers, but am looking to expand my horizons. Any suggestions on international vacations with the following criteria:

-not speaking local language is not an issue
-hobbying is not highly illegal/tied to mob activity
-not super expensive

I was thinking S.Korea or Japan, as I've got a craving for Asians these days. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Unless money is no object, stop thinking about Japan. Traveling/vacationing there is ridiculously expensive. Prostitution is legal in Korea, or was the last time I was there. And the prostitutes you encounter in Seoul will all speak English. However, I would not go there just for sex. Much better places to spend your hobby dollars.  
If you travel to Korea on business anyway, then enjoy. The women are gorgeous and very hospitable.  Do not drink something there called Soju.

Now if you want a rice liquor that will knock your dick in the dirt, try Chinese Maotai, it comes in at a little over 100 proof, but will kick your ass faster than any 100 proof vodka or whisky I have ever had.

As for Korea and Japan being mongering destinations, I agree with you completely.

Most people who don't drink  Soju don't drink it because it's too strong for them. That's why I told him to "not be a pussy" and that even women drink it and enjoy it. I personally drink the stuff myself, and I rather enjoy the stuff. Maotai is a different story, that shit will grow hair on your chest, or maybe on your tongue? It's some strong shit.

I agree with Thailand, having just been there.  But don't discount Hong Kong either.  It is quite legal there as well.
