This is the most rediculous use of LE time that I have ever heard of. Is it really illegal to sell vibrators in Texas? (I was going to say something about sheep lol, but I wont)

On another board, I spoke up about LE and not heckling them for doing their jobs.... in this instance, however, I stand against them.  This is a pure joke!  What that lady had was a "sex party"... they happen everywhere, all the time.  I can't believe some idiot really believes that an end must be brought to the selling of sex toys!

To Dave543... I stand corrected!

afterall, all those horny housewives could melt them down in the kitchen oven and fashion dildos out of the plastic

these are scary times we live in people, scary times!

Seriously,

This woman should insist on a jury trial.  Maybe Oprah could go to Texas again (like she did for her own trial) and broadcast her show from that town and get an update from the accused criminal each day of the trial.

Even little old ladies and Bible thumping Republicans won't convict her for peddling bedroom toys.  Eventually, whoever set her up (according to her, some influential dickhead on the Chamber of Commerce) will be revealed.

Hard to believe this is actually true.  (maybe need to check for urban legend).

In my younger days, I had the great misfortune of getting more acquainted with the judicial system in CLEBURNE, TX!  I was pulled over and searched for no reason.  I didn't realize you could actually say NO in those days.  Well, they found a roach in my ashtray.  I use that term loosely; it was hardly more than a piece of charred rice paper.  So Officer Cletus took me straight to jail with an overblown "Just Say No" speech.  Did I mention this was on Christmas Eve?  FUCKING CLEBURNE!  Not counting the $300 I lost at the track earlier that day, that little piece of charred paper cost me $1500 and 1 year's probation.  CLEBURNE!  PATOOEY!
This dildo story is no urban legend...she just had the misfortune of getting more acquainted with the good people of Cleburne.

That's unbelievable.  In the 21st century yet.

an e-mail.  Their e-mail address as posted on the cities web site is non-functional.

That's God's country thereabouts.  Closest you'll get to heaven this side of Houston.  If the good Lord had intended women to come with vibrators, He would have so equipped them.  It ain't NATURAL I tell you.  I mean, if a woman can do with a double-A battery and plastic what ONLY God intended a man to be doing, if that ain't SIN, if that isn't DESICRATTION of the holy temple that is a woman's sacred body, IF THAT AIN'T HERESY (can I get a "hallelujah"?), then brother, what is?

And may His blessings be upon all the Good Protectors and  Servants in the greater DFW metro area.  Amen.

Yeah, the link to their ordinances is nonfunctional as well.  Not surprising, as it seems their brains are all nonfunctional too.

Don't forget the sodomy laws were eliminated in the US over a Texas case within the last year.

Hopefully, good sense will prevail.  I suspect there are lawyers salavating to defend the women in court.  We can only hope the case is broadcast on Court TV. Just think, demos of pocket rockets, flavored condoms being passed for the Jury to taste, discussions about the correct shape for Butt Plugs, evaluations of the viability of various lubes, ... for the good people of Texas (and the nation).

I was always sad tht congress didn't have Monica re-blow Bill in the floor of the senate so America could decide for itself if anything terrible had happened.

The sad but true of this is that she'll probably be acquitted.  Let me explain...

In order for this law to be overturned by the US Supreme Court, and thus become the law of the land like the previous Texas case, she has to be convicted.  And, that conviction has to stand through the appeals process AND she has to have the will to plow ahead through the years it will take for this to reach the Supreme Court, and the Court has to agree to hear it.  In other words, if just one person--the prosecutor, the trial judge, one solitary juror, one appeals judge--if just one person does the right thing and acquits or dismisses, then the law stays on the books.

That's the sad reality of the appelate system is that someone has to fall victim to years of serial injustice before an unjust law gets fixed.

My scenario.  She is convicted but gets no real penalty.  She appeals the conviction (and appeals, and appeals, ...).

Never underestimate the stupidity of people that live in this area.  Just when you think that good sense will prevail, they will manage to suprise you.  Keep your chin up.

It's really pretty straightforward. Stop voting for people who run on 'family values' or 'moral rectitude' platforms. Work against them. Find out their churchgoing history, and treat it the same as you would a prisongoing history. Campaign against the re-puritanification of this once-free land. Work for civil liberties, not hate and religious oppression. Refer to Southern Baptists as "members of America's Taliban" in everyday conversation at the corner store. Have the strength of your convictions. Simple, really ...

...and interviewed the accused woman and her lawyer.  THe stance of CNN was clearly that this was absurd and even pointed out that the Narc squad should be doing better things!  I didn't see how FOX covered it (they tend to veer toward the 'Fair and Balanced' extreme right!   Some good will come of this-the law will be struck down!  Meanwhile, we have other TExas exports to deal with!

turned Ms. Webb in to the authorities because she didn't get around to explaining how to use it and the wife ended up chipping many of her teeth.
